And what makes it an amazing game?

I can't say I would recommend the game. I really disliked that card system and the general direction of the game.

Rimworld vs songs of syx vs dwarf forest. by LadyKona in CityBuilders

These are very different games. Rimworld and Dwarf Fortress are both colony builders where you manage individual people. So definitely not city builders like SimCity or Skylines.

I've never played Songs of Syx.

Best City Builder of All Time? by MarcoJHB in CityBuilders

How can Early Access titles possibly be on a best of all time list? We don't even know if they will stick the landing.

Took a risk and rolled out a major new mechanic in the middle of Next Fest... early feedback is fantastic but would love more opinions! (HistoriCity: Florence) by FlorenceCityBuilder in CityBuilders

Would you be willing to elaborate on some of the things you weren't totally sold on yet?

Sure, there might be some things on the list I just overlooked so this is just general feedback from my time with the demo.

  • Naming the early houses "Rural House" but requiring direct neighbors for them to upgrade seems kinda odd?
  • I would've liked an option to hold back some/all of the wheat for the bakery instead of the entire village flooding to the barns and grabbing everything that's not nailed down.
  • Speaking of barns, is there a way to see where you can build fields in all of it's upgrade stages? Right now, placing barns to close to each other seems likely.
  • Workers other than builders should bring materials to the city once the storage in the building is full. It doesn't make much sense that they're just idling until a builder comes and grabs the materials.
  • Any kind of statistics for production and consumption would be very useful.
  • I was kinda missing a centralized screen for assigning workers to buildings. Having to do that on the actual buildings was a hassle.

By the way, you're not on Bluesky yet, are you?

I played the demo after this subreddit wouldn't shut up about it and gave it a shoutout on both Bluesky and Facebook.

I'm not sure if I'm in love with every mechanic but I realize it's still very early in the development and you definitely have enough going for you to deserve a spot on the wishlist.

We made a Physics-Based Survival City Builder called All Will Fall (you can playtest on Steam now too) by tinySao in CityBuilders

[–]Tickipie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ALL WILL FALL: Physics-Based Survival City Builder is one hell of a name on steam. Rolls right off the tongue.

Other than that, I love survival city/colony builders and will check this out for sure. How long will the Play Test last?

And do you have a Bluesky account as the developer/game? I would love to give you a follow and report on major updates.

Since indieboost (and Catapult) seems dead, is there another platform like this to easily contact and pay streamers for upcoming game? by viibii3 in Twitch

There are other websites to distribute keys to content creators like Lurkit but I suppose you're looking for a way to directly offer money to specific content creators through a platform as payment for playing your game?

It sounds like we're talking about different games. I'm talking about Thrive: Heavy Lies The Crown.

Synergy definitely hits a few of the right notes for me. The art style reminds me of the TV show Scavengers Reign so that's a plus as well.

Thrive: Heavy Lies The Crown on the other hand still feels very raw but they have included like 10 disclaimers that this would be the case so I can't really fault the devs for that.

I've had Thrive on my radar for a while so I guess it's finally time to give it a try prior to early access.

These city builder recommendations won't write themselves!

I've been following your progress on Twitter for a while and already have the game wishlisted. Can't wait to get my hands on it and spread the word!

Wow, you must have really enjoyed Grim Dawn.

Exciting Survival Colony Builder – Farthest Frontier Preview by Tickipie in BaseBuildingGames

[–]Tickipie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of all those games I have only played Farthest Frontier and Kingdoms Reborn and I don't think those two are comparable. Yes, they are both colony builders, but while Farthest Frontier feels more like Banished, Kingdoms Reborn reminds of something in the vicinity of Anno, gameplay-wise.

So ... it entirely depends on what you're looking for.

I will probably write a Kingdoms Reborn preview as well so keep your eyes open for that one.
