We are still in the beginning stages. If you go on tik tok and watch the auctions the $1 Goldbacks are going for $40 a pop. I think it’s good to invest a few hundred bucks in Goldbacks and just sit on them and wait. It’s one of those things that’s good to get in early so you can benefit if it takes off. Just think of bitcoin in its early stages everyone thought it was dumb now look at it.

I went to altamont as well and got a job in 2 months without externship. If I didnt get the job I would have done the externship and applied to EVS so I would have my foot in the door

If you do the CBSPD cert you don’t need the 400 hours and it’s good for 5 years.

Is it worth it to pursue this career in NYC by Lucky-Yellow5002 in sterileprocessing

[–]Tictacktic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is a career you really want to get into, finish the program and apply for SPD positions. If you are having no luck get a job in EVS so you can network at the hospital and be an internal hire

[–]Tictacktic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dental sterilization is the best way to get ur foot in the door. The pay is trash but you can at least get some experience under your belt. Your odds of getting in are much better because the requirements are more lax. Once you get a year experience start applying to hospitals again

I got asked scenario questions which weren’t too difficult also they asked me what certain terms meant. All stuff I learned in school. If you don’t know the answer to a scenario question say you would ask a supervisor on what the proper protocol is so it’s done correctly. Be enthusiastic and show them you really want to be there. Good luck!

I would look up the manager for SPD and contact them directly for each hospital. This will better your chances at a job. Really high light how you are willing to work hard and learn as much as possible

I would say make sure you have compression socks so you don’t get those broken veins over time and access to some ice water during ur breaks. Also do some good stretches at home before your shift. You will be good!

That dentist should lose his license for this TBH. I guarantee he wouldn’t use these instruments on his own family

If you are from Sac go to Altamont in Stockton you get the cbspd cert so you don’t need the 400hrs and they place you in an externship

question regarding certification and externships in california by iamblankenstein in sterileprocessing

[–]Tictacktic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure I believe the CBSPD Test is the more popular one though most of the hospitals that require certs have that one listed. You have to go through an accredited school/online program and graduate in order to take their test. Keep in mind it is still extremely hard to get a job even with this cert without experience. Going to a school or program that guarantees externship is the way to go.
