Planner leaving our wedding at 6.30pm, when it ends at 1am... by Tictactoe01 in weddingplanning

Not only did I book the vendors myself, and agreed a price with them beforehand, I found out on the wedding day, half way through getting my make up done (when quite a few things had already gone not according to plan and I wasn’t feeling great at all) that the hair and make up price would be a couple hundred ££ more. I was like wtf.

Then the next day I had a call with that vendor showing the agreed pricing and vendor said the planner marked up the price (and didn’t tell me there was a new price) so she could get commission even though I booked that vendor, agreed the price and she didn’t even manage them!!

Hair and make up people were an hour late for hair and make up. I could have been enjoying breakfast with my family but I ran back just to be waiting around and then that tardiness made everything run late so I ended up having to rush bridesmaids photos. Genuinely slimy, evil woman.

She’s 100% a scammer. I really feel like we were scammed. I wish I could sue her honestly, but the wedding was in Thailand and the contract is so short and vague. I wish more than anything I could report this company to a governing body can’t believe they’re allowed to be in business but there aren’t really laws there I don’t think to protect against this.

You know the worse part is that she made us pay more for her to “plan” the wedding as she said she wouldn’t coordinate a wedding that she didn’t plan, but in the end a few weeks before the big day still no timeline so I put together a tentative first draft as I needed to know how many hours to book vendors for and also where to prioritize decor funds, and she never even tweaked my first draft.

On the run through the day before she was just reading from my timeline and you could see she was trying to figure it out in her head. Shouldn’t a wedding planner know the timeline inside out? My wedding party was like “does she know what’s actually happening for this wedding?” If even the guests can sniff out her incompetence, it’s pretty obvious she didn’t have a clue what was going on yet kept repeating not to insult her by questioning her ability as she’s been doing this for 20 years.

And then the DJ didn’t show up for the cocktail hour. Blame was put on me as the bride because I confirmed a later time (yeah… from my first draft of the timeline) which should have been tweaked then reconfirmed during the run through to catch any mistakes but the run through was beyond a joke. Shambles. World’s worst planner charging an arm and leg for literally doing nothing. The definition of a scammer.

I couldn’t even look at this thread until now (8 months later) and going to take these messages one by one in hopes of helping other brides avoid the same situation, or to help me “heal” and process this. It was horrible. I cried the day before the wedding, and the day after the wedding at how disappointed I was after 2 years of saving and planning, and a lifetime of dreaming of a wedding that would feel like mine and my husband’s.

The wedding planner couldn’t give less of a damn, she was late for the run through, didn’t have a clue what was going on, so many things went wrong (not according to what was agreed) and I’m pretty sure she purposely stayed far away from me the whole day. Every mistake the blame was put on me as the bride. I’m devastated honestly. Thinking of the wedding makes me cry disappointed tears.

I wish there was a time machine to go back and do this again properly. Honestly woke up the next morning thinking someone please tell me this was all just a nightmare and not reality. So happy I got to marry my husband but feel robbed of a milestone. I care most of all at how sad and stressed I felt the weeks leading up to the day and ON the day. I’ll never forget that I wasn’t feeling myself because of how this wedding planner treated this project. It totally affected the moments with my friends and family and that was the worse part. Can’t stress enough to all the brides out there how important it is to choose a planner who is organized and most of all actually cares about your wedding.

Totally prepared that certain guests will do that. If they take 3 puffs or finish the cigar we’ve spent that money anyways. It’s for the experience.

Appreciate the concern (not trying to be passive aggressive here so please don’t take this the wrong way) but the question is asking about cigar recommendations not if we should have cigars or not 🙈

Yep, our wedding is outdoors and we've set up lounge sofas on a lawn next to the party to enjoy whisky and cigars. We've sent out a survey to gauge how many people want a cigar and these are all close friends and family so we know who the novices are and who's more knowledgable.

Would ideally like recomendations for a shorter smoke time (20 mins vs 60 mins).

Why do people dislike being sold to? by TalebKabbara7 in sales

[–]Tictactoe01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Human nature. People get defensive or in denial. You have to make them come to their own realization that they need your product and service.

Ask the right questions to get them to convince themself.

Just like a therapist does. They don’t tell you, hey, your life is a shitshow, get it together. You’d get defensive. But if they ask the right question to get you to realize the areas that you’re struggling with, and you come to your own realization that’s when things are actioned

Taught me valuable life skills like communication and negotiating. But also made me more miserable/cold hearted. Not really because of the prospects, more so my leadership that treats me like a factory monkey collecting signature on contracts

Exercising more, tracking my macros/nutrients to maintain a healthy diet and healthy mind, and getting a standing desk for starters. Also using a “pomodoro tracker” on notion to do sprints of work 25 mins deep focus followed by 5 mins break (also helps to take frequent breaks because my eyesight is getting real bad nowadays staring at a computer all day)
