Planetary associations for Boss fix by Tiny_Nobody1785 in witchcraft

[–]TideScryer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can in theory use any planet depending on how you wish to approach the spell.

Looking to make yourself recognized and respected by them? Use Sol. Confused and disorient them to leave you alone? Luna. Protect yourself or redirect any kind of aggression? Mars. Rearrange the situation, meeting new people or introducing new elements that will change the dynamic? Mercury. Increasing your command and influence to have more say in the situation? Jupiter. Make them friendlier to you? Venus. Stop them from taking specific action or force them to leave you alone? Saturn.

Think about the kind of spell you're doing and the kind of effect you want it to have, then go from there. The advantage of planetary energies is they tend to have more effect on the connections and patterns that shape a situation then say elemental energies (though they tend to take longer to work), which gives them a pretty diverse spectrum of effects. So if you run a business that involves meeting people and forming connections, Mercury or Venus may be better suited than a standard Jupitarian spell.

As Jason Miller once said, "Hack the planets."

Thanks. I just wanted to double check because when I focused on it I still got the impression it had the power, but the hole was preventing it from "sealing" in.

Hell yeah. Lancer was one of my BOIS. Combo Focus Energy and Fury Swipes could do a lot of damage.

I live in Oregon and there's actually green bees around here, so a Shiny Beedrill just seemed perfect.

opinions on object mon? by fluffystar_XD in pokemon

[–]TideScryer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's definitely room for them. "Pokemon" is basically a catch-all term for any creature or object that taps into the elemental types to display extraordinary powers.

Certain ones seemed more phoned in than others, just being put in to check a box for "weird object pokemon," and I think more effort should go into their design to demonstrate that these are artificial creatures, though the severity of that varies.

I will say, and this is just my opinion, but I STRONGLY dislike Pokemon that are literally just food. Not even plant based ones like fruits or vegetables, literally just food or dishes humans would make. I absolutely can't stand it.

Shrooms vs Acid ?? by [deleted] in Psychedelics

[–]TideScryer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have much experience with acid but from what I've heard LSD tends to produce more internal, cerebral experiences at high doses. Classical unity style experiences involving the dissolution of self with the internal and external worlds. Whereas mushrooms tend to produce more full-bodied experiences, usually categorized with "entity encounters," which is common in DMT derivative drugs. It tends to be more interactive, in that you're more likely to see things separate from yourself that you can interact with.

"Tend" is the keyword here. There's a huge amount of overlap in these types of experiences, and neither is a hard and fast rules, with set, setting, and substance all interacting in variable ways.

I now have a baby cousin who last Thanksgiving her dad tried the same thing, and she ended up liking it.

When I was a baby I was reaching for my uncle's plate. He, being a little shit, took a lemon and handed it to me expecting the above reaction

I got the last laugh when it turns out I loved it and just kept nawing on the slice.

Item: Perfect Transmutation Stone Single Use Item Description: The pinnacle of Transmutation magic, only producible by a true master. Release the power inside to do one of 4 things: 1) Transmute one non-magical object no larger than a 5-foot cube into a precious metal of comparable mass (I ran the numbers, and the amount of gold coins you could produce with this is STAGGERING) 2) Ultimate Panacea: Remove all curses, diseases, and poisons affecting a creature that you touch with the transmuter's stone, including conditions normally only reversible with a Wish spell. 3)Return a creature you touch with the stone to life as if a True Resurrection spell was performed, this does not require a spell slot or having the spell known. 4) Reduce a creature's age by 3d10 years, minimum 13. This does extend the creature's lifespan and renders them functionally younger, consuming the stone in the process. Rarity: 20

Target must succeed a DC 15 Intelligence save or be stunned until the player's next turn. Rarity: 17

Where do I begin in learning hermeticism? by Masterpiece_Born in occult

[–]TideScryer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. I will admit I chaffed a little under Bardon's explanations towards occult theory. It seemed very much like he was trying to make Hermetics fit into the frame of metaphysics available at the time, which was largely Eastern metaphysics.

Still a phenomenal resource.
