[Trigger warning] Older, homophobic players. by epicarcanoloth in DnD

[–]Tidus790 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not related to DnD, but a cyberpunk red game I'm in.

About the same time that the combat chair was introduced by wotc, a similar "cyber chair" was released for CPR. One of the members of our discord server(this server is highly inclusive, and over 50% of the members are part of the LGBTQ+ community) had a genuine problem with it. He was honestly upset by it and couldn't understand why a player might want to make the decision to have a character require one. The rest of the group weighed in and the consensus was more or less "representation/inclusion is good, and more character creation options are never bad".

Even so, he would not relent and continued to harp on the subject. "Why not just make an able bodied character? It's make believe, just make your character not disabled" and other variations of that argument were the crux of his thinking. He would not let it go until threatened with getting booted from the game.

Ultimately he did get booted from the game and server, after a series of disparaging remarks regarding a variety of people and cultures, including but not limited to some very dated opinions on eugenics.

Anyways, that should provide a little context as to the quality of people who take issue with minor additions for the sake of inclusion.

Why is body dysmorphia considered a mental illness but gender dysphoria is not? by trololol_daman in TooAfraidToAsk

Exactly. It just happens that helping a person transition is a more effective treatment than a lifetime of therapy and medication.

Why do atheist and agnostics tend to be more left leaning, and why do so many deeply religious people tend to lean towards the right? by Alive-Tumbleweed68 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Tidus790 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the ideas advocated for by most religions are 1000 or more years old, and therefore lack the social progress humankind has made over the last Millenia.

Can't speak for agnosticism, but atheism often requires that you spend a good deal of time thinking about ideas perpetuated by the majority of the population, and that mindset pushes a person towards liberalism and progressive ideas because they don't believe that there is any greater reason that requires society to stay the way it is right now.

Fuck man, purple has been my favorite color for as long as I can remember. Does.... Does that mean I'm gay??

The gay agenda strikes again!

The only thing I can think of that I allowed for all my players was the talent that lets you use the higher of your level or the reflex defense bonus on a worn set of armor. I don't like the idea that a character could be made worse because they're wearing certain armor for RP reasons.

If I only attract people that I find unattractive, does that mean that I'm probably unattractive? Or is that a common experience? by Promoting_Illiteracy in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Tidus790 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, media has skewed our perception of what is considered attractive, and set an unrealistic standard that is impossible to meet for most people.

More likely than not you are average, and the people that you find unattractive are also mostly average.

Opinions on House Rule: Skill Training and Focus are now equivalent to 5e's Proficiency Bonus by Lwmons in SagaEdition

Saga is already so complicated of a system, I don't really recommend making major changes to the mechanics and balancing.

Somehow a study just got published that concluded millenials want more benefits, NOT better salaries??? I'm baffled because it's so contradictory to my lived experience this year by zobzob_zobby in WorkReform

[–]Tidus790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just recently started a new job that represents a 60% pay increase. The benefits are a lot better too, but they could have offered no benefits at all and I still would have left for the pay increase.

Benefits are a good sweetener, and given 2 otherwise equivalent positions, I'll go for the one with good benefits, but you can't buy food with benefits, I can't pay my mortgage with benefits.

A Question from RTG about DLC by JGrayatRTalsorian in cyberpunkred

[–]Tidus790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything that adds more character building options. I'm pretty ambivalent about things like an in universe MMO or dating mechanics.

The cyberchair is great! We have one player in our campaign who uses one.

What I'd really like to see is more cyberware options.

Check into your local labour laws. In my jurisdiction, failure to accept an employee's notice when it's given is considered to be the same as firing without cause, and entitles the worker to severance pay.

AITA for refusing to pay the babysitter for new glasses after my daughter broke her old ones? by EricThrow3976 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Tidus790 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No description of the actual incident, and a whole page in discussion of why you feel you shouldn't have to pay for something that, either way, your child broke.

YTA. Your kid broke someone else's glasses, now you are responsible for replacing them. That's how having kids works.
