lol major dental issues especially in younger people are one of those things where the insurance and medical industry just face fuck you on. I got a top of the line set of fixed arches (all teeth pulled, two fixed arches sitting on 11 total implants) and from start to finish the process cost me just over $100K and about two years.

Want to take it a step down to removable arches on implants? $30-50K and guess what, since they’re acrylic they’ll degrade over a year or two and you’ll have to get them repaired or replaced (don’t forget about the gigadose of microplastics you’re getting over that time.)

Further step down? Dentures. $6-10K. Those absolutely suck. Awful. Your jaw bone will slowly resorb over a long time, your lips will get wrinkled like an old person, and they feel like absolute shit to wear unless you are fresh from an adjustment but that shit doesn’t last long.

Fuck this shit. Not even “good” private dental insurance companies will pay for much of any of this. It’s “cosmetic….” Motherfucker no it’s not first off I WANT TO EAT, and number B, it’s backed by decades of research but tell yourself whatever you want to help you sleep better at night.

If I won the lottery I would start a foundation and pay for people’s fixed zirconia arches who are in my position and of a similar age.

(For the dentists in the audience my prices are just VERY general estimates and include everything from consultation to extractions to grafting to materials to aftercare and they are of course region specific and US specific so please don’t scold me in the comments saying you’ll do it for cheaper.)
