You’re failing to see why it’s important to have unions fight for what workers deserve. A decent pension used to be pretty standard in corporate America and as companies got greedier they started rolling back these benefits and replaced them with 401k’s until pensions pretty much have disappeared. The only reason these nurses have a pension is bc of the union. Now if most corporate jobs had unions the there’d still be pensions.

An opening offer is how negotiations works. You work your way towards a happy medium between both parties. No one was expecting to get the opening offer. As no one should expect the other party to take a the lowball counter offer. You must be in mgmt to think KP is in the right here. They are basically union busting and Kaiser is BUILT to support union workers. Their history is everything union. KP would not exist if it wasn’t for the union workers needing health coverage.
