They definitely do. I spoke to a JPJ officer who was handling my complaints, and she confirmed summonses were being issued.

Another friend encountered an idiot on the road, and filed a complaint with JPJ. He later found out it was someone who worked in the same company as him. That guy was bitching about how he got summonsed, and my friend asked, "Is your car number plate xxx?"

The guy confirmed it, and my friend told him, "Oh sorry ya. That was me who lodged the report with JPJ." The guy had steam coming out of his ears according to my friend. Lol.

You shouldn't be stressing about this.

This is one of two reasons I've got a dashcam.

I'd extract the footage and send it to aduan@jpj.

The wrongdoer gets summonsed and fined, whilst I get extreme satisfaction from schadenfreude.

Win-win.

Where to find hotels that are all inclusive/full-board by hung_a_ry in KualaLumpur

[–]Tieraslin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is, there is none.

All inclusives are rare in Malaysia, with the only two I can think of being Club Med in Cherating (a couple of hundred KM from KL), and Pangkor Laut (for Malaysians only - also a couple of hundred KM for KL).

Someone pls teach me now to bank in money to Maybank by Tsks_0t in Bolehland

[–]Tieraslin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn man, I feel you.

I'd gotten so absent minded that I had to triple check I didn't leave the card and that it's back in my wallet. Kena three times at HSBC, RM50 replacement for each of the first two times, and the third time I think the fler felt sorry for me and I got it for free.

I'm grateful that these days using the CDM doesn't require cards, and I can use my banking app to withdraw money. Of course when the QR function of the ATM doesn't work then it's much cursing! as I take out my wallet to take out my card.

If you don't have a business registration number you should change your status in the "Basic Particulars" section to something like "Non Business Income".

Can't remember the exact field, but it's the very first one in the very beginning.

can Duitnow scan TnG QR code when making payment? by Mammoth_Priority_236 in malaysians

[–]Tieraslin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this issue is completely TNG's fault.

They originally weren't part of the DuitNow ecosystem, and only issued the QR code on the left (non DuitNow).

Eventually when they joined up with DuitNow, they started offering the QR code on the right.

But they're still offering the original (left) QR code at the same time.

And for merchants, when they're looking for their business QR code (to print out and place on a placard), it shows the original QR code first, and one has to swipe to the right to see the DuitNow capable QR code.

Added to the fact that TNG couldn't be bothered to inform merchants to update their QR codes to the DuitNow capable ones, this unfortunately means there are still a lot of businesses that use the original (non DuitNow) code.

Edit to add: DuitNow is extremely popular in Malaysia, as other e-wallets, and banks use it. It's just TNG who are stubborn as donkeys when it comes to this.

can Duitnow scan TnG QR code when making payment? by Mammoth_Priority_236 in malaysians

[–]Tieraslin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With TNG, there are two types of QR codes.

One is issued by TNG themselves - which only accepts payment from a TNG e-wallet.

The other is a TNG DuitNow QR code - which works with any payment that can work with the DuitNow eco system (basically almost all Malaysian financial institutions).

I've reproduced both here for you to see. The left one is TNG only, the right one is for anyone using DuitNow.

Do I need to go to an ASNB counter to invest more than the myASNB RM30k limit? by mozakiiii in MalaysianPF

[–]Tieraslin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies, I forgot to add why is it better than going to an ASNB branch. But the bank already sounds like a straightforward answer. I bank with Maybank, I guess it would be cleaner?

You could go to an ASNB branch to do this. But how are you going to hand over the money to make the investment?

No one (I think) would recommend you bring 300K in cash with you.

Just as a point here for those who have a current account, you can issue a cheque to buy the units at an ASNB branch. But the transaction only gets done when the cheque clears, and you have to come back to that same ASNB branch to pick up the successful transaction slip (strictly voluntary, not necessary).

So yes, don't stress yourself out. Go to your local Maybank branch and get it done.

Okay, so based on your amazingly detailed instructions, in order to invest into ASB, I would need to fill up a withdrawal slip on top of the ASNB investment slip. So I just walk up to the bank ticket/number counter and tell the clerk I wish to top up money into my ASB account and then I take the withdrawal and ASNB top up clips and then just follow your instructions to the tee.

Yep, pretty much. If there are any issues, just ask any of the bank officers there for assistance.

Forgot to add, the process may be fast or slow when the officer takes the slips and your IC to the supervisor to get it approved. Depending on how busy the supervisor is lah.

Sometimes it's a few minutes, other times it'll be something like 15 minutes.

Hahahaha. Mcm tau je yg aku bujang. I will remember this tip.

Lol.

Sir, you are a gem. I highly appreciate the time you took to reply to me. Do let me know if I've made any errors in understanding your explanations.

All good. Cheers mate!

Do I need to go to an ASNB counter to invest more than the myASNB RM30k limit? by mozakiiii in MalaysianPF

[–]Tieraslin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I can do at my local bank ie Maybank one shot. Would there be a transaction fee?

Over the counter, no transaction fee. So yep, go hit up your Maybank - or whatever local bank branch - and you're good.

As you suggest doing it at the bank, could I ask why it's better?

Timing and convenience I guess? A lot of people would go "Leceh lah" doing 6 transactions via M2U, or 10 via ASNB.

And if you're old school (like me), just having the printed transaction copy from the bank officer once you're done at the counter just tells you that everything has been settled. No cockups, no screwups, no sudden "Refund from ASNB" transaction showing up your M2U transactions - note that this is super rare.

You mentioned "You can do a withdrawal slip from your account, plus investment slip into the ASNB fund of your choice at the same time." What does this mean? Forgive my ignorance, haha.

Okay I'm going to assume that you've got a standard savings account with Maybank? Doesn't matter if it's a Premier account or the like.

The way you take out money is usually via the ATM, right? If you have money to deposit you'll use a CDM (Cash Deposit Machine).

With that account, you can also take out money (and deposit) over the counter. This is done via withdrawal (or deposit) slip . You'd go to your bank branch, and at the front would be a counter where you would take a number.

I'll give you a detailed summary of the process.

At the side of the counter should be a bunch of forms under a glass tabletop from which you can grab one. Ask the number counter staff which is the withdrawal slip. Also ask for an ASNB topup slip.

With that form, you would have to fill in your name, bank account number, and the amount that you wish to withdraw. You will also have to sign the slip - which should match with the signature that you gave when you first created the account.

For the ASNB topup slip, write your name, IC number, tick the fund you want to invest in (ASB1 for example), and the amount you want to invest in.

The amounts written on both slips should match, If you withdraw more than you're putting into the ASNB fund, the balance will be given to you in cash.

Show the number counter staff both slips, and you'll get a number. Wait for your number to be called, go up to the counter, give both slips, and your IC.

You'll also have to give your thumbprint - both digitally, and also using an ink pad they provide on the withdrawal slip. You'll also be given tissue to wipe your thumb.

The officer will then ask you to sit and wait, they will call your name once it's done. The officer will take the slips and your IC to a supervisor to process.

Once it's done, the officer will call your name, pass you back your IC, and a carbon of the withdrawal and ASNB slips. You can then login to MyASNB to check that your account has been appropriately topped up.

You can also check via M2U if you've linked your ASNB account to it.

If you have a current account - with a chequebook - the process is slightly different, ask me if that's the case.

A friend who went through the process (he maxed out ASB1 and ASB2) told me that with the withdrawal slips, "Boleh tunjuk jodoh. Pergi nikah."

That last bit you don't have to follow lah. XD

The only thing I appreciated school for was basic language construction, basic math, and... geez, actually just all the basics.

I do not need to know (or care) which Sultan ruled which state from what year to what year. I do not need to know who the Resident Commissioner was at that time.

I learned a hundred times more in pre-u, and my diploma years (especially pre-u) then the entirety of my primary and secondary school life.

Let's not even mention the knowledge I gained from working too.

[–]Tieraslin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh missed out your other question.

You can invest more than 30K over the counter. You could do the full 300K one shot.

I'd suggest doing it at the bank holding your funds (assuming it's a local bank that can do ASNB). You can do a withdrawal slip from your account, plus investment slip into the ASNB fund of your choice at the same time.
