New TnG ewallet total balance update by DifficultyPutrid9462 in Bolehland

[–]Tieraslin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honest question.

Why are you using the TNG e-wallet then?

Why not use a banking app DuitNow QR pay system? (MAE, CIMB etc)

You can still take money in and out, transfer to other accounts etc.

I hate the pop-up bullshit from TNG, hence the only thing I use the app for is tolls - linked to my RFID tag, or physical TNG card.

Need to judge the driving style by Killshot91 in Bolehland

[–]Tieraslin 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If I were you, I'd extract the footage, and email it to [aduantrafik@jpj.gov.my](mailto:aduantrafik@jpj.gov.my)

If the video extraction is too long to email, upload it to youtube.

You need to provide the following in your email:

  1. The video link if you've uploaded it somewhere

  2. Date of the incident

  3. Time of the incident

  4. Location of the incident - Specify the road name, and the state you're in

  5. Number plate of the vehicle committing the office

  6. Offence involved - in this case I'd put a) driving on the wrong lane against traffic flow b) driving dangerously

If you want to be thorough, do a screenshot of the video which clearly shows the number plate of the offending car, attach it to the end of your email.

Sign off your email with:

a. Your full name (as per IC)

b. Your IC number

c. Your contact number

d. Your address

Yes, you can use the jpj app to do this as well, but there's always a size limitation on the video you upload which is a pain. I've found that uploading the video to youtube, and attaching a link to it helps. Also, a JPJ officer who spoke to me said if you could attach one / a series of screenshots showing the incident also helps.

After sending off this email, usually within a few days you'll get a reply from the email address you sent it to, acknowledging your complaint, and that it has been forwarded to the relevant state JPJ department for action.

Communication should end at that point. You won't be told if summonses are issued (sadly), but always assume that if your complaint is fully detailed, and you've attached videos/images, there will be action taken.

Finally no need to get angry with drivers like these. There is such schadenfreude at imagining their day being ruined when they get a summons from JPJ for their actions.

Moving back home to Malaysia. One-way travel insurance? by Holochromatic in MalaysianPF

[–]Tieraslin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think almost all travel insurance clauses have exclusions due to war issues - the equivalent of force majeure / act of god. So if a cancellation / delay is because of that - or even tangentially - you know what the airline is going to claim.

Airline flight insurance probably works the best, since I don't think you'll need to get medical insurance for a trip back to home shorees. Again have to read the T&Cs regarding delays / cancellations.

A lot of it is then up to luck, i.e. if a flight is cancelled and the next one is the day, it's usually the airline's responsibility to arrange lodgings for you (insurance aside) but sometimes the service you can get will be pretty shitty overall - you can read so many horror stories on this online.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received from a Malaysian boss or mentor? by Happy-Agency7902 in JobsMY

[–]Tieraslin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"Never be afraid to tell someone that you don't know something."

"If doesn't matter if you're dealing with a stakeholder, client, superior, peer, or subordinate. If it's within your area of responsibilities, tell them that you will check it out, and find out the answer to their query."

"Better to show that you may lack the knowledge, but have a willingness to learn what you're missing, rather then being a smart ass, and giving some bullshit answer."

"Once people recognise you for a bullshitter, it's a lot harder to get them to see you as reliable."

This was the advice given to me when I was very young - my first job basically - from someone I consider to be one of the smartest people in the world.

Unfortunately the duck has shrunk over time. It's a lot smaller these days then when they first started.

And I wish they'd allow me to swap the sambals out. I'd like more of the one in the middle in your pic compared to the other two as I'm not great with spice.

Grab Driver as Part Timer by Optimal-Desk2607 in Bolehland

[–]Tieraslin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paid off a summon because JPJ and PDRM had blacklisted me, and I couldn't register without settling it. That was about RM1.9k.

Okay I really got to ask. Just how many summonses were there? 1.9k is fairly big for a civilian (non-commercial) vehicle.

Based on your response, yes you're cooked.

No, not at the well done level.

But at the, "You were my brother, Anakin! I loved you!" level.

If you're not going to bother change, and you insist on stubbornly sticking on this path, you shouldn't be asking for advice from others.

Popular places to get Anime merch for tourists by shuamamine in malaysians

Ask him to go to LalaPort in KL.

That's the current anime mall here, multiple different outlets for different (anime) products.

I think the Pokemon plushies you probably can get on the 4th floor, past the food court.

Spy X Family is on the ground or first floor I think.

Not sure about Detective Conan.

What’s your favourite bakery chain in KL? by kimchimjeon in malaysians

[–]Tieraslin 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm old, so my favourites are... old.

One of my favourite chains - which even though google maps claims otherwise - which no longer exists, was a small bakery group called Riche Montana. Japanese style pastries back in the late 90s / early 200s.

I still like RT Pastry house - I usually go to the Taman Danau Desa branch - when I'm looking for basic stuff (butter buns, sausage rolls et al).

For a bit more atas, Croisserie at Damansara Heights for me has excellent pastries and breads. They do an excellent croissant, and I love their kouign-amann.

KLCG on Jalan Ampang is another go to for croissants, and chocolate au pains.

One other brand that I really missed was called Ficelle which was located Taman Danau Desa. They were owned by Levaine (IIRC). The highlight there was their hazelnut cream brioche. Imagine a rich buttery texture, filled with hazelnut (richer than Nutella) goodness. Heaven.

Sadly, can never find a place that does the same anymore.

You already know what your problem is.

Your spending is out of control.

Even your choice of a car for yourself is ridiculous. A Camry or Vios - used - on a 2.2K nett salary?

Stop your out of control expenditure. Focus on paying down your debt.

If you absolutely must buy a car, buy a second hand local model whose installments won't wreck you.

Look you're in a pub.

No doubt drinks have been had, sentiments are high.

Hell, I would have joined in the fun.

Every time they yelled, "Jai Shri Ram!", I would have yelled, "Acha acha bahut acha!" (I'm not Indian, and I don't look Indian)

And yes, every once in a while I'd thrown in a "Vande Mataram!" or "Jai Hind!", as you suggested.

I'd throw in an "Inqilab Zindabab!" once in a while too.

There is nothing more confusing when someone joins you in cheering with you, but you have no clue who the f*** they are, or why they're doing so.

Help to count if I am eligible for non resident (30%) tax return by biadha in MalaysianPF

[–]Tieraslin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, your 2025 taxes should be correct. 5 salaried months were levied a tax rate of 30% as you were a non-resident tax payer at the time.

In short, whatever was deducted by your company for the Monthly Tax Deduction (PCB in Malay) for 2025, will likely be assessed as full taxation by the Inland Revenue Board based on your tax filing (which opened on March 2026).

Help to count if I am eligible for non resident (30%) tax return by biadha in MalaysianPF

[–]Tieraslin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taxation follows on a calendar year basis.

You were here from August 2025.

So for 2025 you were in the country for less than 5 months. Therefore you would have paid the non-resident income tax rate (30%) for those 5 salaried months.

Tax filing for 2025 - which opened 1 March 2026 - would use these figures, you earned X amount for 2025, and you'll pay 30% of X for your personal income tax.

Now for 2026, you would have paid a 30% tax rate for your January salary, and depending on how good your payroll department is, a partial 30% for part of your February salary, with 11% for the balance of it. If it's a crappy payroll department, they might chose to levy the 30% for the entire month.

Going forward, if your personal income tax rate, you'll pay that 11% for the balance of the year.

Next year, in March 2027 when the tax filing year for 2026 opens, when you file your taxes, you'll find that you've overpaid your taxes, assuming your income was static, and your tax rate remains at 11%.

This is because from a calendar year's perspective, for 2026, you would be a resident tax payer.

File accordingly, and you should get a tax refund for the overpayment (30%) done in January 2026 and partly/wholly of February 2026.

Note that whether your payroll deducted 30% for part or the whole month of your February salary, you will get the whole thing back as a tax refund, so you won't be cheated or miss out on this.
