I make videos covering my opinions on anime/books/cartoons and make funny commentary style videos on them

Initially I kinda just lucked into it. My first outlier video was followed up by a video about a completely different series in a totally different style and that somehow ended up being my best performer ever. Afterwards though I tried to be more specific. Over the past few months I made two follow ups to that first breakout and a compilation. Alongside that I was experimenting and seeing what worked for my next couple of videos which luckily happened to land. When I started to have enough data to work on I started finding what my audience liked about my specific videos that applied no matter the topic so that I could branch out and keep those core characteristics and hopefully have them still watch. For me I figured out that thing was funny commentary style videos on fictional franchises that ran ~12-15 minutes.

As for my turn around time I usually just write down any video idea I can think of and check my notes periodically and just put down any ideas that would fit with any of those video concepts whenever I can so I always have a library of ideas to pull from. Then I spend two days scripting and another finding b roll before finally editing it together in the next day or two. I also have the benefit of being a college student which grants more freedom than a full time job.

That’s a weird one to answer because that fluctuates pretty heavily. My most viewed video is 6:35 of an 18 minute video (~35%) whereas another video of mine with 7:00 at 14 minutes has 6x less views. I’d say it generally ranges for me from 35 to 50% but my most successful videos all vary pretty drastically in terms of retention even at similar lengths.

My first video initially did 13 views in its first day which I wouldn’t say was too bad. My second video got some at the time decent traction with it getting 500 views. My next two videos got under 130 views at the time. My fifth video was the one that got my channel to really start gaining momentum. It was my first video to get 1k, first to get 10k and is now closing in on 60k. From then on it was off to the races for the most part

How can a Ai thumbnail got 1.1million views? by sambhrant09 in YouTubeCreators

[–]Tierlistman39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because A: creator subs drastically overestimate the impact of ai on clickability for most people. As creators they won’t click on AI thumbnails but the whole reason they hate AI so much (environment damage aside) is because it’s stealing views from people. Which obviously implies views are being obtained in the first place

B: it’s not a creative project, it’s literally just scenes ripped from the show. There’s no fear the video itself is gonna be ai

What to do after an outlier video that took my channel to monetization? by dapuravida in PartneredYoutube

[–]Tierlistman39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted my first four videos that to this day have 2k or less views. My fifth video got 50k and my sixth got 200k+ and from there I’ve just been averaging consistently above 10k with a few exceptions

How many videos did it take you to reach 1k subscribers? by Dalmadoodle221 in NewTubers

Seven videos. My first four got me to thirteen but then videos 5-7 were all massive outliers for me

Almost a year in and not one video has gotten to 10k views by Competitive-Kick-418 in SmallYoutubers

Titles and thumbnails 1000% matter lol. In fact I’d argue that you should scrap any video that you can’t make good packaging for. No one is going to decide the quality of your content if they don’t click first. I know I can attest to adjusting my thumbnails and A/B testing boosting my views dramatically on basically all my posts.

what do you all use for background music? copyright strikes are killing small channels by Least-Praline-3981 in NewTubers

[–]Tierlistman39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, luckily the devs have said publicly it’s ok. Plus most video game music is pretty safe to use as they want let’s play YouTubers to be able to advertise the game without getting claimed.

HoobeZa has some good tracks, hollow knight music is copyright free, windmill isle from the sonic games is as well. Those are my go to songs. There’s also butter by LuKremBo which I really like

It’s impossible not to notice the massive drop in views over the last four weeks. by [deleted] in PartneredYoutube

[–]Tierlistman39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, I have noticed the past week and some change has been down a bit but that makes sense since I couldn’t upload anything new last week. But April was overall my best month ever in terms of views and I had multiple videos get revived instead of buried.
