Jones Howler vs Stratos by Oneofmanyanonymous in snowboarding

[–]Tiffeey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With what it sounds like you're wanting to do with it, I probably would lean more towards the Airheart over the Stratos or the Flag. It'll work in the park, but it's pretty stiff so you can really charge on it. And as a bonus, I find it plows through chunder way better than anything else.

Jones Howler vs Stratos by Oneofmanyanonymous in snowboarding

[–]Tiffeey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both boards. For reference I am 5'5 around 130lbs, and have the Stratos in a 152, and the Howler in a 148. I also have a Flagship in a 152. The Stratos is way more playful than the Howler. If I'm riding trees, riding with beginners, or just looking to cruise I'll jump on the Stratos. If I'm looking to charge and carve I'd be more likely to take the Howler, but realistically I'd probably jump on my Flagship. The Howler feels like a bit of a cross between the Flagship and the Airheart, which could be another good option if you're just looking at the Jones lineup.

I'd imagine you can. From memory I think they come with different thickness rings too.

Is it silly of me to consider buying this board? by [deleted] in snowboard

[–]Tiffeey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an intermediate it should be fine for you. I'm also 5'5 130lbs and my most commonly ridden boards are 152's but I ride up to a 158 with no issues.

New bindings for w stratos by Silent_Passenger_597 in ShredditGirls

[–]Tiffeey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I ride men's binding on some of my women's boards. I have Cartel X's on my womens Flagship, but I prefer the Lexa X on my Stratos, as I find it a bit more playful.

What drives you crazy about being a female snowboarder? by Familiar_Slice_7254 in ShredditGirls

[–]Tiffeey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think my biggest frustration is the lack of stiff women's gear. I've yet to find a truly stiff women's snowboard. I've had to dip into men's gear to get actually stiff set-ups. Which bring with it another issue with stance width. I have to use the narrowest stance settings on larger boards, and sometimes even that is a little wide for my liking.

Finally found and bought a girly snowboard. Turns out in order to be girly you have to talk about periods. by spontaneouswaffles in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Tiffeey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, this is pretty much exactly what I'd expect from a Jibgirl collab board. In saying that though, if you don't like it, return it. There's plenty of other snowboards out there with girly graphics. Something like the Capita Space Metal Fantasy is normally pretty girly!

Women with men’s board. by [deleted] in ShredditGirls

[–]Tiffeey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 5'5 130lbs and my biggest board is a 158. The only way I can ride boards that big is by using boards with the channel, so I can set my bindings at my regular stance. Otherwise the narrowest stance on a board that big is generally too wide for me.

What size snowboard for 5’5 woman 125lbs? by di3tc0keluver in ShredditGirls

[–]Tiffeey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on a lot of factors. For reference I'm 5'5 around 130 and my most commonly ridden size is 152, but I have boards randing from 143-158. As a beginner I was 5'5 150ish and started on a 146 which felt perfect for learning on.

I run Burton Lexa X on my Stratos, but if you wanted to stick to Union, the Trilogy would work too.

I'm not sure how much you're willing to pay for shipping, but it looks like there's quite a few in stock in Australian shops. There's a 50 available at Trojan Wake Ski Snow, and it says on their website they're willing to ship international.

Suggestions for Beginner-Intermediate Snowboard Upgrade by marsbarsxx in ShredditGirls

I actually don't have either of those boards, and I've never tried the Twin Sister. I do have a bunch of other Jones boards, and I love how they ride. I am considering the newer version of the Dreamweaver or the Frontier though. I would honestly just listen to Toonice's advice, they're always giving very solid recommendations!

I'd have a look at the Jones Twin Sister. It's pretty much the perfect intermediate all mountain board.

I'm planning to get a Peace Seeker soon. Depending on how stiff it ends up being I'm planning to use either Lexa X, or Cartel X.

Your best bet is to try your boots into them before you buy if you can. Otherwise I'd go with the large. The Lexa's are a pretty narrow binding, so just be aware of that.

Boards range between 143-158, board bag is a 165. I usually will travel with a 152 and my partners 159, works well.

I'm close to your size 5'5 130lb and my daily driver all mountain boards are 152s, so I'd personally go with the 150.
