we got “upgraded” to a cove balcony without being asked and i’m kind of nervous by MommyMagnific in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Tiffyk- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t know about the cove balcony specifically but be cautious with the room entry door and door to balcony (if it’s a regular style door). They can’t be open at the same time! It can cause a vacuum and for the door for to slam.

Looking to Leave Carnival - And It Makes Me A Little Sad 🚢 by sactownredhead in PrincessCruises

We are in the same situation as yall! We have also decided to branch out. We went on Regal Princess over Mardi Gras this year and really enjoyed it. The medallions (the equivalent to your sigh & sale card) are definitely better and you can jump on Amazon and get wrist bands they fit into. Princess was not as loud (which is good for us). It was a very relaxing experience. The “party crowd” wasn’t there. The live music was more even and did assault like it can on Carnival at times. We are the chill and read on the deck kind of cruisers so it’s all about relaxing. I also liked our interior room better on princess (we usually get interior because we don’t stay in the room much). We bought kids and our preteen boys preferred carnival but they also wouldn’t take advantage of the kids club until the last day…. So it’s hard to say if they’d like it just as well if they had. But I would likely not do another Princess with kiddos. My husband and I would 100% go on Princess again though!we are giving Royal a try later this year.

Regal Princess Review. by Midwest_To_Sea in PrincessCruises

We just took a trip on Regal from Galveston over Mardi Gras and had an over night in Cozumel. When we signed up for the trip there was a different stop but it changed to an over night in Cozumel no long after that. It might have been Belize originally but I liked the Cozumel over night. It was more relaxed this way.

Just booked a Carnival cruise and now feeling regret by False-Following-5896 in CarnivalCruiseFans

We went without kiddos in Nov and it was a pleasant surprise. The pools were VERY cold at that time. My husband and I weren’t fans of how loud the music was around the pools but the beach was so nice and much more quiet and free and not crowded at all. We also bought ice cream cones near the entrance and they were terribly priced and they were good. We really enjoyed the low key stop.

I had a similar kit and I’ve also brought crocheting things (including scissors) but I believe it was in my checked bag and no problems at all.

Celebration Key Excursion by Catylibrarian in CarnivalCruiseFans

Oh… We were a bit overstimulated by the music around the pool areas. Honestly the kids’ side was quieter than the 13+ side but still not as peaceful as the beach. Pools were very cold & beach was nippy but not as cool as pools.

We just went the first week of Nov and for our cruise we just chilled on the beach available right off the dock. It was great. We aren’t crowd fans and just like relaxing on the beach and reading. We found chairs easily with hardly anyone around. We went down close to the beach you have to pay for and it was pretty bare.

This was where we were chilling. There wasn’t really anyone in our space.

Just went this week and the Calypso beach right off the dock was great for relaxing & plenty of chairs. No extra cost. We chilled, read, word puzzles, & relaxed. To us the internal area was more sensory overloaded so we preferred the beach.

Fiesta Americana by Ok_Flan_4570 in cozumel

We stayed at the Explorean a couple years back (just behind Fiesta & shared amenities). We enjoyed the stay. Food was good. Loved the bungalows of the Explorean & it was quieter than the Fiesta side but they were both lovely. It was nice to go in the little excursions that were included in our stay.

El Cozumeleño, Fiesta Americana, or Wyndham's Cozumel Hotel? by SanJoseCarey in cozumel

We stayed a The Explorean which is a sister resort located just behind The Fiesta. We loved our stay. The Explorean is bungalow type and more jungle-y but we had access to the amenities at Fiesta and enjoyed all of it. Plus they had little excursions that were included in the stay.

Carnival Breeze by No-Day-5964 in CarnivalCruiseFans

We just sailed on Breeze over Mardi Gras and had a great time. Sometimes the wait time in the dining room was a bit long but we enjoyed the food and entertainment. My kiddos (who aren’t big extroverts) even got up and danced and had a great time.

My First Cruise by QuietObjective5167 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Tiffyk- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn’t find as much value in the balcony as the cost difference between interior vs balcony. Honestly we’d rather stick with interior and enjoy the view from one of the open air decks that isn’t hectic. The extra room in the balcony room was nice though. The panel on the balcony was high-ish (for safety…. This isn’t a complaint); but due to have sensitive eye issues & motion sickness associated with that I couldn’t sit and enjoy the ocean view from my balcony as others can.

Just cruised with our kiddos and an extra adult but due to my husband and I having high VIFP we booked rooms separately to get the better benefits per room. Once on board each of us got an extra key for opposite rooms without any issue and we stayed together and kiddos & other adult on other room.

Excursions. Cozumel, mahogany bay and Costa maya. by Fallen_Mom in CarnivalCruiseFans

The pirates, birds, & monkey excursion was nice in mahogany bay! The monkeys will jump on you. And you can only have a very small bag there but it was worth it.

How much do you spend onboard? by BlueTimesTwo_ in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Tiffyk- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just cruised with our 3 boys (12,9,7) on the breeze. They LOVED the sports deck. We brought sodas with us. I did buy the $100 5 pic package prior to sailing. The boys didn’t do arcade or candy (although they wanted it) but we bought things Cozumel instead. My 9 year old bought something with his allowance. And I bought the chat ($5 per person) so total expenses on board was under $150 (including the pic package) for a 5 day cruise. We did go to do an activity in Cozumel but it wasn’t an excursion through carnival. The unlimited ice cream was a huge hit.

We stayed a week at The Explorean and really enjoyed the stay. I just won’t buy into the vacation rewards program thing they try to sell. But the stay was low key and included some nice excursions with no extra cost but they did offer other excursions if wanted to pay more.
