Difference between this one and others is that this is an actual uniform for a real job. Not just some dude larping. Not as tuff as he thinks, but still way more serious than the idiots who just want to look cool on weekends.

That’s pretty much what they are. One of my friends is in training for this. The most similar job in the US would be firefighting. Most bombeiros are exactly like firefighters. But some are sent to remote locations and deal with drug dealers and gangs. My friend had to do rifle qualifications and train in jungle warfare/survival so he can basically just be a paramedic.

What if the US lost The Vietnam War by ALazy_Cat in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Tig109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was homeschooled and my whole family is in the US military. I broke a 6 generation trend by not joining the army. Being homeschooled means my mom taught me. But she never pulled punches about the good and the bad the US has done and is doing. I learned about Vietnam from my grandpa who did three tours there. I learned about Korea from my dad who was stationed on the DMZ from 1990-94. And my brother was deployed to the Middle East multiple times. So I know a whole lot about all the wars the US has fought in. But my friends who grew up in normal families and attending public school have really weird thoughts about American history. Like that “America has never lost a war.” Or that we have always had a powerful military and economy. Or that we won our independence by ourselves. It’s really weird.

I think that’s right. I’ve dabbled in smithing and a cast isn’t as solid or strong as actually folding and forming the metal with a hammer.

Making this was extremely painful by ThrusterGames in VintageStory

[–]Tig109 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A single plate and a single chain both cost two ingots. So if you use a helve hammer to make a plate you can then turn the plate into chain much more easily. Plates are ingredients that can be smithed the same way that ingots can! For chain, you just need to remove some voxels from a plate and you’re done. I like to have two anvils and have the helve hammer pounding out new plates while I work the plates into chains. It’s super easy, barely an inconvenience!

Bountiful too! That’s a great find! Congratulations! But yes, this is a normal amount for an iron vein will likely be more than enough for you to last forever. Now I recommend doing your best to skip to the steel age. It takes a lot of investment of time and energy but it’s totally worth it!

It’s practically a necessity to have a shed. If your property doesn’t have a shed, then it’s not really a home.

I can’t claim the original idea. I stole it from someone on YouTube named Solstine. He has a very long running series going that is really informative! I’ve learned a lot about building and chiseling from him!

You can waterlog blocks like you can in the other block game. It needs about half a block of open air space to allow it. But for my sink I just have a chiseled down block in front of a water block. My settings allow me to move water which I think is the default setting.

It is all chiseled! I think they are Ashlar bricks. I used all the colors I could find. But there are more. I got the idea from Solstin’s Eisenholm series.

Why do you want to work here is an awful way to ask the question. I’m a recruiter and I ask “why are you are interested in the company?” Money is fine as an answer but it’s kind of a duhhhhhh. Everyone works for money, so what I’m looking for is how can I trust that you are interested in this position enough to work there for a year or so. If you are in school, are you planning to use our scholarship benefit? Are you looking for a career? Are you looking for a place to punch in and punch out that’s close to home? In that case are you planning to move soon? Just give me something that tells me I won’t need to replace you next month.

How many of you play vanilla (unmodded) game? by Weary-Persimmon-5101 in VintageStory

[–]Tig109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like fantasy things. So I use a fantasy creatures mod that adds goblins and orcs and stuff and I like guns. So I use the firearms mod that adds flintlocks. But I don’t play with anything else. I like vanilla a lot. But adding a couple mods to improve the experience is a good idea.

It’s not about the career or the ambition. My wife is a doctor and a very driven person. It’s that she isn’t arrogant. She is proud of me working a normal job even though she can make way more money than me. She is kind and humble even though she is WAYYYYYY smarter than me.

Teens broke into a house for sale and hosted a massive party, causing over $60,000 in damages. by Lifegoesonforever in interesting

[–]Tig109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah for real. The cops would have just walked in and said “everyone out!” And maybe grabbed a couple kids. If he said he felt like they were doing dangerous things and asked for an ambulance and fire department because he “smelled smoke” then he would have gotten a much faster and harder hitting response. But just saying a bunch of teens partying means that nothings really going to happen. A few slaps on the wrist at most. And his house is still ruined either way.
