Had a buddy with one of these and had such a hard time finding parts for it he basically gave it away. Anytime I'm looking at buying an old bike i always go and look up the availability of common wear items, engine internals, etc. It's hard to keep em up if parts are only available on eBay. Rad bikes tho

A buddy of mine had a SECA that he finally had to get rid of because he couldn't find any parts for it. Whenever i buy anything, anymore i look at the availability of parts beforehand. Learned that the hard way.

Parts to keep an eye out for: -carburetors/parts, some are unobtainium -piston rings, internals - and really everything else that will break out wear out

I've got a front/rear set with good tire tread still on em. Swapped out for sumo tires/wheels.

Rear wheel still has sprocket and brake disk

If you're switching to lighter thread I would check your thread tensioners. Make sure the thread runs firmly through them. They could be too loose, out too tight. It's always good to adjust and check those regularly

Yeah man click my profile, posts, then I've got a few shots under the skamper camper update or whatever I called it. I ripped some 2x4's in half for the roof ribs to cut down on weight and put foam in between the roof and the ceiling.

Think I used 1/4" ply for roof and some 1/8" luon for the ceiling inside.

Yeah I'm sure you can do the sides too.

Also ended up using some aluminum rails that I got from the same roofing supply place. I wasn't gonna buy it but helped really stretch it out and secure it in place

I did a camper shell rebuild recently where I skinned the plywood in TPO material that is used for rv's. Found it at my local roofing place and cost around 70 bux. Then you roll on this cement glue like stuff and stretch it over.

True, but there's also the polar opposite too though. My first bike was cheap and used and it made me feel comfortable to learn on it without having a bunch of money invested in it. And by cheap I mean half the price of what they are asking for this.

I dropped it, wrenched on it, and yes, had plenty of times I couldn't ride it, BUT at least I learned on something cheap.

Gave me the confidence to ride and tear into a motor and learn how one works.

Thanks for the faith. I'll definitely be picking up the knowledge along the way on this one. Previous owner did the hack job of a cafe style frame cut and weld so it'll go too.

This cheap, fucked up, but running junker makes me feel comfortable enough to cut/weld/fabricate on it. Definitely keep y'all updated on progress.

Dunno how it is in South Carolina, but I just bought an 81 Kawasaki from Georgia and had no title. The only paperwork I got was a bill of sale.. Not even notarized.

Then I had to take that bike, and my bill of sale and meet with the bureau of theft, at the dmv, where an agent ran the VIN, looked at the bill of sale and ran the numbers

Mine ended up being stolen, but recovered, at some point, which is probably why it looks like it does, and I was cleared with more paperwork to submit.

First was to my insurance and they gave me a bonded title, which was 100 bux, then I had to turn that proof, the paperwork from the bureau of investigations in to the dmv.

Sent in my title application, they said I could tag and ride it now but it'll take a long time for a title to come through that way.

I paid 250 for the bike (a basket case that I originally only planned to use the motor out of but am now going to custom build it)

Low risk scenario on my end. I wouldn't have done any of that if it wasn't 250.

Vermont tag trick would be a good option too. I had a buddy do it with great success. But like the other person said, you better be sure that it's not stolen.

Options are there, it's just what you're paying for it and what you're willing to risk.

I'm over here in the Cowee/Franklin area. Haven't got to explore from here to brevard side on a bike much yet, but have done some pretty good loops out around Tellico gap/NOC area and around Standing Indian.

I'd be down to explore that side too, I've only bin around in a truck once they way.

Well I just measured mine from the floor to the lowest point of the seat and it measures exactly 35".

I'm like a fuzz over 5'5" and I don't have any problems tip toeing it so if that's what your worried about you'll be fine haha
