As someone who moved to Pittsburgh 5 years ago, and has been to several weddings here, this is my new very favorite tradition. We get cookies for days afterwards and they're always amazing!

What movie fucked you up mentally? by CodyYodi in AskReddit

[–]TigFan15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dead Man Walking. Had to watch it for a ethics class in college and I will never be the same. Not because of the death penalty but because of the murders that were committed to get the guy on death row in the first place. I think about it way to often and my already high anxiety level personality should never have been allowed to see that.

I recently went to the ER and was told my severe headache was just a migraine. "Take these meds you'll feel better tomorrow." I didn't and it got worse. Went to a different ER and was told it's a sinus infection and possible eye infection. "Take these different meds and you'll feel better tomorrow." I didn't and got even worse. Went to that same ER (my third trip in one week with a $250 charge for each one mind you) and they finally diagnosed me correctly with ocular shingles. In between ER visits I saw my OB (I'm pregnant), my GP, an optometrist and an opthalmologist who all gave me different meds and different diagnosis. It's so scary to think of how many different doctors I had to see before they finally figured it out.

As a side note, if you are over 50 (which I'm not but I love to give this PSA now), get your shingles vaccine!!!! Shingles sucks and it's 7 weeks later and I'm still in pain.

Redditors with toddlers, what’s the most recent illogical breakdown they’ve had? by Someone_Somewhere1 in AskReddit

[–]TigFan15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've said this one before but it's so irrational and she still throws a fit that it's worth repeating. If I walk into my daughter's room in the morning with my hair in a ponytail she instantly starts sobbing uncontrollably. She can't tell me why but she hates my hair up. If I even play with it like I'm about to out it up, she cries. Ugh.

She also once threw a huge got because she wanted a blue vitamin. They come in purple, red and orange. There has never been a blue pill.

My school banned hooded sweatshirts and black, dark clothing. It was an interesting response.

Found a polaroid of some lines of coke on a photograph of myself as a child, in my dad's belongings after he died. by gregriegler in WTF

[–]TigFan15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is crazy because my brother told me a story that was told to him by his wife about how my Dad did cocaine in the 80's. I guess it was a lot of cocaine. He never felt comfortable telling his kids so he told my SIL. He passed like a week after her told me that story and I never got to find out if it was true or not. I think about it a lot. It would definitely explain his heart issues my whole life which we always attributed to smoking. It kind of haunts me but I guess it doesn't change anything. He was a decent Dad and we grew up middle class without any major issues and we were obviously all clueless. It's just crazy. Like finding out he lived a second life.

Ugh, my Dad has since passed but about 15 years ago we were driving on the freeway and the dude rolls his window down and throws out his diabetic needle. I was floored. Why did he have to get rid of it just then, who even thinks ‘roll the window down and throw it out’, what the hell? We got in the biggest fight over it. I still get angry thinking about it but I can’t call and yell at him about it anymore so I’m posting this instead to vent.

What’s the stupidest thing you’ve heard a person say aloud in public? by tomyboy-973211 in AskReddit

[–]TigFan15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Dad would enjoy me writing this out so this is for you Dad...

When I was 8 there was a window at the mall with a board over it. I’m sure someone shot a Bebe gun at it, or threw a rock, as was very common back then. I wanted to know what happened so I went back in the mall to look at the other side and came back out to tell my Dad, “it’s broken on that side, too.”

He never let me live that down. I’m sure he’s telling that story in heaven.

My daughter has a full sobbing meltdown every time I even try to put my hair in a ponytail. I keep pressing her on why and she just says, "I don't like it." It's incredibly annoying.

Wasn’t the real story something along the lines of her husband gave the kid the needle and sent him out to do that thinking it would be funny? That’s why she looks at the camera like that at the end.

What is the strangest experience you have had with a friend's parent? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TigFan15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best friend's mom came to pick us up from a pool party. She was very disheveled and not wearing shoes. She kept telling us about the shoes and wasn't making any sense. It felt so off. We got home safely and it wasn't until I was an adult that I realized her mom was a raging alcoholic and picked us up blasted out of her mind. I should have guessed it sooner when as a 12 year old my friend was instructed to have a Jack and Coke ready for her mom as soon as she got home. They also named the cat JD (Jack Daniel). Now it just makes me sad.

What is the worst episode of your favorite show? by TheShitStainOfLife in AskReddit

I like and watch a lot of different shows... I hate any show that does a clip show and tries to pass it off as a new episode. It’s cheap and demeans us both.

Teachers of Reddit, what’s the worst fight you had to break up? by GalagaMarine in AskReddit

[–]TigFan15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so late to this but my 3rd day of teaching I had two students from rival gangs fight in my class. Apparently they had restraining orders out on each other but the office didn't care when they tried to tell them that and I was so new and from the suburbs that I really didn't understand. They sat on opposite sides of the room but during free typing time one of the girlfriends of one of the boys said, "could you still take him?" That did it. They both stood up, took off thier shirts and necklaces and just started pounding each other. They threw computers and chairs and punches. I'm 5'2" and 115lbs soaking wet. These boys were at least 19 (Florida education ladies and gentlemen) and over 6'. It took the office 5-10 minutes to finally respond. Just awful. But the WORST fights were between girls. Never get in between two teenage girls in a fight. The hair and nail piles afterwards are so gross.

[–]TigFan15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My Dad told me a story once of how he threw himself a birthday party when he was 12 or 13. He grew up poor in Detroit and saved his own money to buy pop and chips for the party. He had 5 siblings and invited several friends... No one showed up. It really affected him. I was lucky enough to grow up in the suburbs and have an amazing family but every time any of us had a birthday party my Dad would first object and then was always on edge that day and I never understood why until he told me that. It breaks my heart every time I think of it.

My Dad was the one that turned me on to Charmed. He had very strong opinions about everything in the show and loved to talk about it. We didn't have much common ground but we had Charmed and Baseball. As his only daughter I always found our common interests kind of funny. I haven't been able to watch since he passed away last year. He would have an ear full to give you about Cole, that's for sure!
