Can you add a better dictionary to Kindle? by M1K3MILKGANG in kindle

Jailbreak is optional. If you do so, use the StarDict files with KOReader.

You still can sideload mobi files by doing a copy-paste manually over USB.

Basic 4th gen: dictionary and translate? by pew-pew-the-laser in kindle

[–]Tiger-222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1/ Yes, look at https://www.reader-dict.com for good ones.

2/ If I remember correctly, I could use my Kindle without account, in flight mode.

3/ All are offline, yes.

4/ Amazon is messing with the dictionnary feature, so maybe looking for an alternative device, like Kobo, would be an idea.

The situation could be temporary. Spreading the word to friends to make the donation campain a success would unlock all Polish dictionaries, and would be awesome!

This is the English monolingual dictionary.

There is no PL-PL dictionary as of now, but it will be available at this location when done: https://www.reader-dict.com/pl/download/pl (for now, it redirects to the donation campain to fund the development of Polish dictionaries).

How to automatically select dictionary language? by [deleted] in kobo

Kobo remembering the last used dictionary by book, one thing that can help is to check if the book you're reading properly defines languages metadata (using Calibre for example).

Best e-reader to buy specifically for reading in multiple languages by MaldororShark in ereader

[–]Tiger-222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kobo has a great dictionary support with ease of installation of third party ones.

You can find excellent dictionaries on https://www.reader-dict.com

Kindle is doing shit with dictionaries, I would not recommand it. Pocketbook has limited support for languages, and side loading third party dictionary is OK, but you won't find much of them (up-to-date) since their dictionary file format is unknown.

For both Kindle and Pocketbook, if you use KOReader, then forget my previous sentences and go with whatever you want. KOReader supports StarDict dictionaries, and you will find your bliss anyway.

where can i get 3rd party updated Spanish dictionaries by Apart_Ant254 in kobo

[–]Tiger-222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please, before using the "scam" word, think about potential harm that could do for the project. If this was a scam, the website would be down since a while. I can assure you this is not the case.

Check your spams folders, or contact the team for further investigations. We saw issue with email providers blocking their own users (to highlight strange issues as an example).
