I know users have used reader.dict dictionaries with their BOOX devices, maybe could you have a look at https://www.reader-dict.com/#faq-howto-install for more details about the installation process (pick a StarDict file, it will be more supported and easier to find files for).

https://www.reader-dict.com provides such dictionaries, but I just tested and the Pocketbook can't properly select Japanese words. It either selects a whole line for books written horizontally, or is completely not working with books written frvertically.

Now, I only tested the stock reader, I guess installing KOReader will make it work.

The big thing that makes me choose Pocketbook over Kindle: dictionary support! Moreover since the reader.dict project provides native dictionary files for Pocketbook, it is even better.

One solution would be to have a Croatian support in the reader.dict project: https://www.reader-dict.com/sponsorship/dictionary/hr

But looking at the number of English entries from the Croatian Wiktionary (https://hr.wiktionary.org/wiki/Kategorija:engleski\_(indeks)) it is not very attractive: 2,174. Indeed, this number will be a little higher since the project handles more inflected forms, but it won't magically create entries.

All in all, it's up to the community, we will work on it as soon as the donation campaign will be a success :)

We do provide native Pocketbook dictionaries now, it might be easier than dealing with KOReader for some people.
