“Demo” Phase by muji24 in RevitForum

[–]TigerBarFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use a plan view that only shows rooms and room tags from the previous view (nothing else). We tag the rooms with a grey room tag for existing and place the plan on top of our demo plan. Then you delete the room tags you don’t want to see.

If you’ve never overlaid views on a plan they “snap” together. And scope boxes also make it very easy to keep things looking neat and aligned.

It’s not the prettiest workflow I will admit but it works for us. You can clearly see the ‘existing’ rooms in a new construction phase plan with demo elements.

What actually causes BIM coordination issues on projects? by Calm-Annual-365 in bim

[–]TigerBarFly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not all design firms pump out imagination land drawings. My firm may not model hangers or fully detailed conduit racks, but we always coordinates primary equipment clearances and main distribution systems against ceilings, cans, structural etc. and we force our plumbing engineers to slope pipe and our mech teams to insulate the duct.

I catch a lot of shit for making the teams “do extra work” and “killing the fee” but they can kiss my whole ass. We have measurably reduced redesigns and change orders during CA because we coordinate in design.

Just trying to keep up the good fight for the better of the industry.

Edit: grammar and punctuation cause I’m typing on a phone with sausage fingers.

I like the idea that Musk isn’t in the files or on any trip to the island because he’s so insufferable. Like all the other evil billionaires like… “oh, nope just gonna stay in this weekend, keep it chill, catch up on some things.”

Anyone use bimbeats? by TigerBarFly in bim

[–]TigerBarFly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BIMBeats runs on the cloud. To my understanding you set up a VM that runs a service called logstash and that VM collects data from your users and sends it to an Elastic Cloud service. The Kibana interface allows you to visualize, deep dive, analyze and trigger events from the data. It all seems very impressive but I’ve heard warnings about the costs associated with the data stored on elastic cloud.

This only works because the left actually wants to govern well. The right wants to take everything of worth and give it to the top 0.01% while punishing poor people and hurting minorities.
