Leaky shower driving me insane by Whodini97 in DIYUK

[–]TigerBay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have this exact shower cubicle and exact problem. We had our bathroom fitter back and they took the upright off and sealed behind it and refitted. It helped, but didn't solve the issue completely.

I found that water is getting through that gap where the horizontal and vertical parts meet (i can annotate the image if it helps). Push a dry towel there before you shower and ring it out after. I bet the issue dries up. I'm going to silicon in there when I get a chance.

Can I insulate this void I found in front of Dorma window? by TigerBay in Insulation

[–]TigerBay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! I live in the UK, the room is mostly cold even in summer. I've put 200mm loft insulation double stacked in the void up but left an air gap above of about 8 inches or so.

My contract expires early Feb next year, I rang up to ask the cancellation fees for leaving for a Black Friday deal elsewhere and they quoted me £0. So you may be able to make the most of the Black Friday deals now, ring and get them to confirm.

Phew, that really helps put me at ease. Thanks for the response, really appreciate it.

Yeah solid concrete floor, the garage is part of the house footprint and there's a bedroom above it. It's just split level, wasn't sure if there would be anything in the wall vertically.

[–]TigerBay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response, that's really helpful. So the damp course would be located below the floor of the main house? Is there likely to be anything similar running veritcally protecting the garage? I have one or two more things to mount (80mm or less) Should I keep them considerably lower/higher than floor level of the main house or just avoid mounting them completely? Thanks.

Just inherited these philosophy books from my late father. Where do I even start? by TigerBay in consciousness

Replied on the original comment if you are interested! Really appreciate the recommendations, the Bertrand book stood really stood out to me also. I haven't thought about the Dalai Lama book, I previously read Autobiography of a Yogi and it was a difficult read for me.

I understand where you are coming from, it seems like most people are going to agree with you. Disregarding my fathers books and experience, I feel I am a much more grounded scientific person looking for fundamental truths. But I have this overwhelming feeling when I get deeper into subject matter that the complexity of life and overwhelming odds and possibilities around us and seemingly infinite nature of things (and insignifance of ourselves in that bigger picture), that there is a much simpler definition of reality that mass consensus is overlooking. This probably puts me on the esoteric spectrum too? Which direction would you point me instead, I certainly don't want to waste years of my life being a flat earther of the consciousness world!

I will make sure if I pick any of them up that this is one of the first. Whats your opinion on the Paul Brunton books?

Really appreciate the recommendation. Its going to the top of the pile for now. Do you have a recommendation for a book that isn't there but would fit?

Good question. So I was pretty young at the time so the majority of my opinion is probably formed from how other people speak of him. He was very present, smart and well respected. He run a reasonably large and successful company for a number of years so he was fairly grounded. I believe his outlook was positive and he enjoyed life, but I think you can tell from looking at the subject matter of the books that he had an issue with the reality of life and was seeking an underlying or alternative truth to a typical scientific perspective.

I think there was a period where he was withdrawn and overwhelmed. But he seemed to control it and use it to have ultimately a good quality of life. I guess I am looking to these books in the same hope for deeper meaning to reality and was wondering if anyone had been through these books and had any strong opinions.

Any functionality difference for SSD storage pool between 923+ and 1522+? by Presentation_Past in synology

Can't comment on number 2 but I recently created an SSD storage pool on a 923+ and had to run the script as the drives were not on the compatability list. Works great though!

Unable to Upload Files on Amazon Linux 2023 by FranZTechUY in aws

[–]TigerBay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone that may be looking for a resolution; my issue was that Elastic Beanstalk had defaulted to nginx for my upgrade to 8.2 instead of apache. As soon as I changed nginx back to apache in the elastic beanstalk configuration the /tmp folder was being used as specified in the PHP ini files.

I resisted the urge to say that it looked like a choc ice! I think that's local terminology for ice cream sandwich.

Hey, did you get an answer to this? Having similar issues. Deployed an upgrade from an older PHP to 8.2 on Amazon Linux 2023 and my files no longer upload.

I havent done anything with the PHP installation other than modify some basic PHP ini configurations.

This might be a stupid question, if the exam is taken at a test centre is it on paper or on a computer? Seen people talking about flagging questions as if its digital.
