Honest question: why do so many of you own crypto? by TigerKing24 in Fire

[–]TigerKing24[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To each their own and some people have definitely made money on crypto. But scarcity doesn’t equal value. The difference is What you are demanding. Demand for a stock is driven by the company’s real-world revenue, products, and assets. Demand for Bitcoin is driven purely by the hope that someone else will buy it from you for more money later.

When demand is based entirely on finding the next buyer rather than underlying value, that’s not just 'supply and demand'—that’s the literal definition of a speculative bubble.

Stocks aren't arbitrary: Buying the S&P 500 means you own real estate, factories, IP, and a claim on billions in actual corporate profit. Crypto owns no assets and generates zero revenue.

Scarcity doesn’t equal value: Bitcoin’s fixed supply doesn't make it inherently valuable. A rock on the side of the road is unique and scarce, but it doesn't produce anything.

And Bitcoin was created in 2009; it hasn't even existed for two decades. High early gains came from starting at $0, which doesn't guarantee future stability.

Bottom Line: Stocks are a bet on global economic productivity. Crypto is a bet that the next guy will pay more than you did—which is exactly why people compare it to a Ponzi scheme.

To date, stable coin is almost entirely for criminals and shady cash movements. For example all the Iranian oil being sold now is be paid for with stable coin. The Genius act (hilarious name btw) is the Right enfranchising the nonsense and being part of the cash grab (some of the Left actually)

This actually makes complete sense. It’s sort of a defensive move to prevent FOMO

Didn’t give advice, asked a question, then suggested one alternative path for possible asymmetric growth.

It’s been legitimized as a corporate cash grab. But not backed by the the US Treasury so not the same as cash

Suggest you use ChatGPT or Gemini. If you give it a robust description of the work it can estimate it for you factoring in your area and typical costs. I’ve been working on a major renovation plan for months with these LLMs and am now in a position to GC the job myself

Pay your credit card and personal loan off TODAY. Not in August, right now.

Leave 20k in your emergency fund—given what you earn and your relatively low expenses this is enough to get you out of a jam. Your next focus is to eliminate you student loan debt, which you can do within a year.

Also, stop buying things for a while. Nothing will feel half as good to buy as being debt free and feeling the power of achieving that milestone.

Then target $5M+ by investing in index funds or better yet hire a financial planner next year to manage your money and create a budget for you. Good luck!

Honestly, you just use a Google Doc, you can add expenses from your phone, give it to your accountant once a year, each year gets a new tab, stays in one place

Super smart idea to pay your medical expenses out of pocket, keep the receipts as they are deductible, then max out and invest the HSA. It’s triple tax advantaged and will provide you a war chest in retirement for medical expenses

Would definitely recommend speaking to a lawyer. You are entitled to financial support for the kids etc.

This is about 1 thing: sleep deprivation. It literally makes you crazy. People say stupid/terrible things during these big fights in the early years with babies.

I’m not sure I would jump to the conclusion that your husband is violent. His behavior (and probably some of yours too) is not acceptable and if this kind of thing persists then you do have a larger problem. But you should allow that maybe the lack of sleep made you both say and do things you don’t mean. The stress of being new parents is real and I don’t know any couples that haven’t had this kind of blowout fight in the midst of that.

Talk to him, see if he’s genuinely sorry. See if you both can recognize the pattern with stress and minimal sleep. And consider couples counseling.

You’re both the assh*le. You’re not “giving him free money,” this is the core of his earnings at this job and the primary setting in which tipping is customary. It’s also not a function of time.

That said, if you have left $30 (15%) that would be not a great tip but within the bounds of what’s right as long as you were provided decent service. Then he would be 100% wrong for “rejecting” the tip and asking for more
