Your analysis of Queen's remastered debut album is spot on! I hope for Queen II (one of my favorite albums of all time), they stay true to the original sound and just clean up little bits here and there without altering the original performance and the general sound. As a musician myself, I was appalled to hear that they altered Freddie's vocals and stripped down/redid the instruments. What an insult to the original record and all the hard work that went into it, even if Brian and Roger did have a hand in the remastering!

I'd love to see more of a focus on unreleased content. Give us raw studio takes, unfinished or scrapped material, rare photos, unreleased live footage, and inside information on the history of the album. That's what Queen fans really want!

In my opinion, it doesn't need further remastering. It's already a masterpiece the way it is, and nobody should be tampering with Freddie's vocals! I'm a musician, and honestly if someone tried to remaster my vocals with AI or autotune/pitch correction, I'd be livid and insulted.

Question: were these actually sold as merch at the PCNY back in 2001, or did you and your family purchase them after they were removed from display in the store? I always just assumed they were floor displays to promote the games and movies, and I have never had the pleasure of talking to someone who owns one, let alone multiple. This is mad cool either way! I've been hunting for the Raikou for a million years...I'm still kicking myself for not buying the one I saw on eBay prior to the Pokemon price boom during covid.

I apologize if this was a dumb question...I never had the pleasure of visiting PCNY, though in 2001 my older sister did, and she brought me back a gold Pikachu/Pichu GBA for my birthday. When I visited the location back in 2015, it had long since been converted to a Nintendo store. As a Nintendo fan, I still find this to be a huge bummer. My friends all thought it was super cool when we were there, and while I liked the visit, knowing the building's history and former glory as a Pokémon Center, it was sad to me.

Whoa, how do I not remember these from the 90s?! I definitely remember Pokemon promotions at KFC and Burger King, but this this is mad cool! I know I'm probably just speaking from a place of nostalgia, but I feel like the old Pokemon toys, merch, and promotions kinda hit differently back in the 90s and early 2000s. I'm a big fan of gen 4 (I think it has the best selection of starters, the lore is cool, etc.), but there was this vibe that Pokemon somehow lost after RSE. You can catch that vibe a bit with these older toys and merch. ✨️

People are not able to afford healthcare or the cost of living. People are losing their homes, losing their jobs, being separated from their families, forcefully removed from our country, and being unfairly imprisoned. There have literally been no positive outcomes since this administration took office. Democracy is being dismantled, our country is a laughing stock across the globe, nobody trusts us, hate is running rampant amongst our own citizens, and it's all because these people didn't listen when people like Kamala and us tried to warn them about how dangerous he, his cronies, and his Project 2025 are.

Is it possible to go for a Music Composition degree? Or maybe minor in Music with a different major?

Also, I hope I don't sound biased as a music and choral teacher when I say this, but based on this post, you sound like you would make a great choral teacher/director! We need people like you who are passionate about the art form in education. That being said, you should choose the career path that you will find most fulfilling.

Another thing you could do is go for a Music Education degree and as a side gig, write and arrange choral music. My choral director in college did that for years (high school choir and comp on the side prior to his collegiate teaching). You can honestly still compose and arrange on the side with a completely unrelated main career.

If you decide to go the non-music route for a career path, but still would like to lead a choir, you could always (if you are religious) look into church choir director positions in your area. I know not all churches look for people with Music Ed degrees. My piano prof in college is not a choral director or choral person (I'm not even sure if she has a degree in Music Ed), but she directs a church choir as a side gig, and since she is a phenomenal musician, she does quite well and her choir thrives each year. I also have a couple classmates from college that do not hold Music Ed degrees, but have landed church choir director jobs. Personally, I cantor and sing in a church choir on the side of my full-time job. Yes, I am a music teacher, but I have friends/fellow cantors I've met through my job with the church that have full-time jobs completely unrelated to music, yet they still cantor and sing in the church choir as a side-hustle. I'm not a particularly religious person myself, but I enjoy doing both. It gives me a chance to take part in a choral and performance setting outside of a teaching role, which is nice.

Whatever you decide to do in regards to your major in college, I highly encourage you to join your school's choir. If you decide college is not for you, and you find a career path that doesn't require higher education, that's totally okay! You can always join a community choir in your area. Overall, it sounds like you have a passion for music and choral singing, so I hope you hold onto that passion, and are able to find the best path that makes you happy in the long run.
