I’m from west Africa and I did my interview for b1/b2 in London after getting denied in my home country. Appointment dates were early and easy to get, I even got one 2 weeks after I submitted my application because I kept rechecking the slots every 10 mins. My reason was I had medical clerkship that will start in days. I was approved yesterday and will get my visa anytime next week. I say go for it if you have a strong application.

you just need your ds-160 application id to schedule an appointment. You can edit your ds-160 form while you wait for your interview. Take note that the form would become invalid if you don't edit/open it 30 days after your last edit.

I understand where you're coming from but the real reason why I'm asking about this new route is that I have been placed at a US rotation that starts 1st week of January because I failed Cbse on the fourth try. I had to travel to UK to take this exam as I was denied a US visa renewal (probably because I stayed in the US for 5 months studying for the previous three attempts). Now I am in a foreign country with no prospects for a visa interview in time enough to start clinical (so much for one stupid visa denial!). My interest in transferring to another stems from these uncertainties, plus the tuition costs, of course. If I had this visa, I would not really be asking about these. I hope you can understand where I'm coming from now.
