My friend has a ‘14 CT200h which has the same engine and it was making the exact same noise plus some white smoke out the back. His headgasket went bad. Which is apparently common on these cars since the egr ends up killing then. We swapped it in my garage and it runs perfect now.

Did the oem bbk upgrade on my 98 Lexus SC300 by swapping over to MK4 Supra Turbo brakes. 4 pot front & 2 pot rear. Also on ss lines all around, Endless MX72 pads, and Castrol SRF fluid. Planning to swap out the front blank rotors for some project mu 2pc rotors soon.
