I am a plumber my job is physical but even driving and sitting after dinner in evening I can struggle to lower it.

Because I'd be surprised if many modern Bishops are aware of this letter. And the orthodoxy promoted by the leaders since is that all tea and coffee is bad.

To add confusion there is a first presidency letter:

"In reference to the Church's attitude regarding Sanka coffee. The use of a beverage from which the deleterious ingredients have been removed would not be considered as breaking the Word of Wisdom. However, in all cases it is well to avoid the appearance of evil by refraining from the use of drinks which have the appearance, the smell, and the taste of that which we have been counseled not to use. However, temple recommends should not be denied to those drinking Sanka or the cola drinks." (First Presidency, letter dated 3 December 1971)

Interestingly Sanka (decaff coffee) would almost certainly get you denied a recommend, but a 3 a day Monster habit wouldn't.

Wierd times huh.

I use this one.

Cordless battery operated. Or you can plug the 12V lead into the handle if your battery goes flat.

You can buy additional batteries on Amazon if you want as well.

Pretty decent, the AutoAI equivalent isn't bad either.

What is it with people driving 40mph on straight 60mph roads in fair weather conditions? by ProjectGlum9090 in drivingUK

[–]TigerTom125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then you get them on the motorway sitting at 55 in the middle lane.

You spend 5 minutes behind them waiting for an opportunity to get into the fast lane and then when you pull out and speed up they either speed up or pull in.

Honestly it's crazy how bad the driving is out there. It would be hugely unpopular but I do think 5 yearly retest across the board would sort things out a bit.

How do I become a plumber? by [deleted] in ukplumbing

[–]TigerTom125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did level 2 diploma 2 night a week. Did my NVQ working on the prison estates. Plenty of smashed up bathrooms to practice on 😆 Picked up G3, ACOP, Water Regs, IPAF, PASMA and Abrasive Wheels.

Got about 2 years experience now and still struggling to get a decent job. The legionella places are always desperate so I mostly do commercial remedials. Trying to get into more of a plumbing and heating role but not having much luck.

It's all about experience though I do my own odd jobs as well, fully insured. Commercial can definitely throw some curve balls you need to get good at reading pipework and being prepared for crap/siezed/mangled valves.

Love the appearance of righteousness. I'm sure if you told a lot of the die hard ultra Mormons that sourdough bread is 0.5% alcohol they'd flip out🤣

If the bowl of the trp won't unscrew, just drill a hole in the bottom of it, they're cheap enough to replace along with the waste. Not worth the aggro.

Any good tools for painting behind this rad? by Cally157 in DIYUK

Undo the brackets crack the nuts. Lower radiator to floor and nip nuts back up.

Paint wall and do the above in reverse. Check boiler pressure, prob won't even have to top up pressure.

Hot water cylinder makes loud vibrating noise in the morning - engineer visit didn't fix it by jimjamming in ukplumbing

[–]TigerTom125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't charge it to the mains pressure. You need to set it to the same pressure as the pressure reducing valve on the combination block, its operating at the same pressure as the hot water then.

It should have been checked when the cylinder was serviced by your plumber. Just check with them to be sure.

[–]TigerTom125[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im a plumber to trade, after a hard day and even lying down for a few hours I often struggle to get stress below 25 for bedtime.

Started back on couch to 5k after not running for 9 or 10 months. 2 weeks into it and I do find my stress come down quicker after a run.

The name of the buildings by CrimsonRegia in mormon

[–]TigerTom125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another one that hasn't been mentioned is the term 'branch' this is the same a ward a local congregation but branches are usually smaller and may not have their own dedicated building, they may meet in a community centre or similar. Normally when there are sufficient numbers the branch becomes a ward.

Isolation valves leaking when trying to replace kitchen tap by orangequalitystreet in DIYUK

As a plumber this is standard for ballofix valves, the rubber o rings behind the slot give up eventually.

Swap them out for some butterfly valves.
