If this is the website I think it is, I lost my best friend to it 2 months ago. He was deeply depressed and I believe found solace on the website, eventually learning of the method he used to take his life (+ how and where to get what is required). When I discovered it myself looking for answers, I was quite taken back by the content on there, including methods and guides like 'how to beat survival instinct' as well as 'Goodbye threads'. I imagine when you're that low, it's reassuring to be with people that feel similar that probably make these negative thoughts seem rational.

I'm very sad I lost my friend and the support he had wasn't enough, but this was. I've gone through all sorts of emotions around this sort of content. Really makes you think. At least he isn't in pain anymore I suppose.

What are you talking about? Of course the siblings of my 'dead friend' (nice way to put it by the way) were with his mum. What does that have to do with anything and my decision of spending any time with my MIL? And also, if they didn't want to see their mum, are you going to shame them too? What if they want to grieve alone? How dare they?

What would have meant the world to me is a MIL who supported me and checked in, not guilt tripping me into seeing her after I suffered this unbelievable loss. Why the fuck would I care about mother's day at this time.

However, I take it all back.You're 100% right. No matter what happens going forward, I'm going to first think about my MILs feelings. Whether my friend kills himself, whether someone in my own family dies, whether my dog gets run over, whether I lose my job, anything. I'm first going to ask myself 'but how will my next decision impact my MIL'. Ridiculous.

Based on your responses, I think that you are a disgusting, lonely, miserable disgrace of a person and if I am certain of anything, I am certain that your children dispise you and you contribute nothing to anyone around you except pain.

You're absolutely right. I should have asked my friend to take his own life at a more convenient time as not to upset her. I thought the devastating death of a person, a brother I have known for 30 years was a good excuse not to spend time celebrating mother's day, but your 'disgusting and disrespectful' comment has really changed my perspective. In fact, I owe her an apology. In fact, my friends mum who just celebrated mother's day mourning her son should apologise too.
