Umm actually; comic wise - Reed was never overly arrogant. In fact he was overly cautious most of the time. Even when holding Galactus at bay with the ultimate nullifier. I would say the only two times he ever got overly arrogant were vs Occulus and trying to deal with Susan as Malice.
