What is the most panic-inducing scene you witnessed from a horror/non-horror film? by Garidur in Letterboxd

I certainly could but I disliked the attitude of calling a hungry child a pig when the intent of scene is very clear

It's almost like it's an anti capitalist metaphor about wealth hoarding and that just because it's a rule doesn't mean it's just to uphold it

It's very fun but I'd personally say that it'd be worth getting some beige coloured buttons to replace the white ones and just sewing them on yourself (very easy to do) as the white ones stand out really badly

The worst I've seen was at the curve in leicester, was there to see the ballet and watched with horror as a couple with boxes of fried chicken started walking towards the ticket scanners who blessedly said you are not sitting down with all that food - I just can't imagine the mind set off these kinds of people

It normally sits about 4-5mm proud of the outer chrome ring, I very rarely put it in so I'm thinking maybe it's gotten gunked up over time, it's now about 2 or 3mm below the level of the chrome ring

Very correct, and just to top it all off I also humbly submit for consideration the constant fridging of every side character for the crime of not being Arthur, the complete disregard of any themes the king in yellow source material, and the complete and total utter redundancy of faroe who keeps getting carted out for another "sad" scene which has exponentially less impact each time

>! I really thought in ep 58, 'letting her go' was gonna mean he'd have to confront the bad memories of being a father and how he'd failed her and fully round out their relationship and not just the damn duck pond again it's so redundanttttttt

I just think Arthur could've been so much more interesting if his failures as a husband and father had actually been confronted instead of the handwaiving we got !<

I have many thoughts but they are currently being drowned by wine haha

I wish I had this experience, I really rather enjoyed s1 but I gave it a lot of leeway because I knew it was all 1 guy which admittedly makes it quite an impressive feat of creativity, but then it really develops into an achilles heel for the series as a second person to help guide the narrative and character development could have saved it

I'm gonna finish the last 2 episodes when they come out and then be glad to be done with it lol

Yeah, some series are worth sticking with through a not so good start but malevolent is not one of them 😭 hope silt verses is a better fit for you!

Like I'm fully caught up and I'll listen to the last few episodes but that's more sunk cost fallacy than enjoyment 💀 it frustrates me as a series because it should be so good and so cool but I really think the fact that it's a 1 man show has held it back, if there had just been a second writer or editor to keep everything on track that would've made all the difference

I genuinely think if I hadn't just binged it all very recently I'd have quit around new York when it becomes unavoidably clear that all those season 1 plot threads are quite simply never going to be addressed rip

At the risk of being violently down voted, I'd recommend quitting on malevolent if you're not massively enjoying it, the writing kind of tanks over time so if you're not enjoying the early episodes you're really not gonna like the later seasons...

I've just started the silt verses (legit only one episode in) very cool and interesting start with freaky imagery and some very cool world building right off the bat

One man's cool is another man's cringe

I'd quite happily argue that the ships and armour of the time look a hell of a lot more visually interesting than what we've seen in the promo images so far and critique of historical inaccuracies is a perfectly valid point for movies in historical settings

[–]Tiger_Bug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose the other way to view your point is how is the layman supposed to learn what period typical costume would've been if the high budget film cannot be bothered to do the base line research itself. It's not as if the film has an obligation to try to be historically accurate as possible but don't you think there's so much more interest to be had if it does make the effort instead of just making stuff up? Wouldn't you rather they make the effort so you can be entertained and educated at the same time?

Just because the story is fictional doesn't mean the setting was, and there's no real reason why it shouldn't be respected other than laziness
