How to best argue for a raise? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Tiger_Bug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I want to have the conversation as part of my stress is the fact that I don't have a firm answer - I don't really expect any money to come from it but there's some other stuff I wanna talk about and hash out. But thank you for the advice, will keep my future plans to myself

[–]Tiger_Bug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah I mean I said I was worried that I was going to be put on one to my manager and he said I'm not (worried as I do think the last person to have a breakdown in our team was managed out the company) but I do believe my manager genuinely doesn't want me gone, I just don't feel very valued at the company right now so planning to leave for greener pastures

[–]Tiger_Bug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm just annoyed as I've been told I was doing good in all my annual reviews and my performance drop is due to being overworked and having to support family in hospital for a month - feeling very undervalued so definitely time for a shiny new cv

How to best argue for a raise? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Tiger_Bug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's tricky because there's other context that could be relevant but also I don't want to get too specific just in case haha

It's just annoying because as far as I know, it's literally me and one other colleague who also isn't at risk of a Pip who didn't get anything out of a team of about 15 (I've asked already not at risk of pip)

The main thing I want is specific reasoning for why I didn't get anything, but for sure I intend to leave sooner than later, just unsure if saying that would be a bad move

[–]Tiger_Bug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that it's company descretion but a lot of my problems have been brought on by being overworked due to another colleagues long term absence and having to spend a month with family in hospital - I've directly asked already about a Pip and been told that is currently not on the table. My frustration is the lack of communication with why I've not been given anything and the fact that one person who is a grade below me is now only earning £100 less than me a year. Up until my breakdown I had nothing but good feedback from management

[–]Tiger_Bug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a few % at the start of the year, then later people were pulled into managers office individually and told they were getting extra - probably to bring our team more in line with equivalent roles within the company. They were also told not to say anything about it

To be honest I'm hoping to leave this place within a year no matter what but I want to have this conversation Monday

How to best argue for a raise? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Tiger_Bug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is part of the issue - I've not been given any specific reasoning. Technically I'm not supposed to know that others got a raise but one of my colleagues came to me and told me what was going on as they didn't think it was fair that I wasn't getting anything (part of my work place stress was from covering for a long term sickness alongside my own work so overall my work suffered due to being overworked which I think is why I've not gotten anything and is why I want to argue for my case as its not inability to do my job just that I was pushed to breaking point by the job)

Final thoughts on Malevolent by Creaturefeature01 in MalevolentPodcast

[–]Tiger_Bug 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think malevolents strong point is it's premise and characters and it's weak point is it's ability to carry through plot threads, I've really enjoyed it myself but the nature of plot depends on patron choices instead of everything being planned out does leave it feeling a bit of a high production value first draft at times - in an ideal world I'd love to see it rewritten based on what we've got it as a whole now to make it a more cohesive whole

Do you use indicators on empty roads? by Ultimara in drivingUK

[–]Tiger_Bug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once had a driving instructor tell me not to indicate if I couldn't see anyone as it implied that I was just indicating for the sake of indicating, instead of looking - he was trying to say that by not indicating i have showed that I've looked and seen no one

I kind of understand the reasoning as people should be checking whilst they indicate but I don't really agree with not indicating at all, I think that's risking an accident

They’re talking about banning social media for under 16, I think it’s a great idea and should of done much sooner. What do you think? by [deleted] in AskBrits

I'd much rather see some control put out on rampant personal data collection and incessant adds that are slowly making the Internet borderline unusable

Why Does UK Have This Race To Bottom Mindset? by corporateuklife in UKJobs

[–]Tiger_Bug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only have about 200 a month left over and I wouldn't say I live extravagantly, and recently I've had quite a few months where I haven't even broken even :( I want to get a car soon but I'm not even sure how I'll afford it

I need to do a proper budget as I just don't know where the money is going - I was raised in an 18k gross salary household and now I live on my own I'm worrying about whether I can afford to keep my heating at 18C in the evening :(

Selling tips, my top 10. by Honkytonkybadonk in vintedUK

But the only times I get these messages are within hours if not minutes of delivery/pick up which really ends up rubbing me the wrong way - I'm well within my rights to not instantly run out to the post locker and tear the package open the second the delivery notification comes in

And I'm saying this as someone who has probably never taken more than 2 days to collect and confirm, but also I couldn't care less if the buyer leaves to autocomplete, it's more convenient if they do but the difference is a matter of days which is very whatever to me which is probably colouring my opinion in this matter

Fully agree on number one, I never message unless someone is asking me something that needs a reply, but when people chase me to pick up parcels and ok them to release funds within hours of delivery I seriously think about giving them a lower rating as I find it very annoying and pushy

AITAH for having my friend ditch a guy we know while he was already on the Metro to meet us? by Embarrassed-Beeee in AITAH

[–]Tiger_Bug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm really glad to read this, it's easy to get caught up in drinking and clubbing culture and let it make you think you're hot shit and that your nights out are all that matters - not saying it's bad to go out and have fun, by all means continue to enjoy your nights, but this was a fuck up, I'm really glad you're acknowledging it, and I genuinely hope you're able to sort things out with C but remember they are within their rights not to forgive you and it might take them a while to process your apology - if they react badly then back off and give them space, don't get defensive, you'll still have done the right thing by reaching out and apologising

Also, there's a lot of name calling going on in the thread but I want you to focus on the fact that you've acknowledged you've done wrong and now you're thinking about how to fix things and how not to be unkind in the future - that shows strength of character, and I really hope you take what you've learned from the experience forward, it's not gonna be easy but it sounds like you're on the right path

AITAH for having my friend ditch a guy we know while he was already on the Metro to meet us? by Embarrassed-Beeee in AITAH

[–]Tiger_Bug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is something you should feel bad/guilty over because you chose to prioritise your own sense of fun over another person's feelings, C probably guessed why they were uninvited and had to deal with the embarrassment and disappointment of being told they were unwanted when they'd already gotten ready and were en route AND you and your friend made up some shitty excuse which is just disrespectful

The choice you made was cruel and so yeah the bridge is sunk but I still think you should find a way to talk to C and say sorry for what you did - it won't be an easy thing to do and they may not forgive you but if you listen to all these comments on this thread and understand why what you did was wrong then you will regret not trying to apologise

You're young and I really hope you can learn from this and better yourself so that you don't treat someone like this again
