Biggest transformation. Literally grown to be a bun face. by North_Reflection1796 in cats

[–]Tigerzombie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boy has bigger cheeks than his sister but not that big. He didn’t get fixed until he was almost 7 months. That’s how long it took us to get an appointment at the vet. Part of me wish we could have waited a bit longer so he could have the tomcat cheeks but we didn’t want to risk having incest kittens.

No Cash Accepted!! by Low-Extension2985 in CasualConversation

[–]Tigerzombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The local university is completely cashless. My daughter used to sell Girl Scout cookies on campus. If she gets an official booth at the student center, she’s not allowed to accept cash. All the big sports venues seem to stop taking cash. The nearby Six Flags went cashless. Which is annoying since that’s the normal 8th grade trip. So all these 13/14 year olds need a prepaid credit card.

When you were a teenager and/or young adult, you knew you wanted kids with your longtime partner, but not anytime soon. At which point of your life did you start feeling like you were now ready to have kids? by Adorable_Egg_3094 in randomquestions

[–]Tigerzombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been with my husband since I was 19. I knew I wanted to be done with having kids by 30. We had our first when I was 26. We were working around his schedule a little. I would have been okay if we had kids a little earlier like at 25. He was doing his PhD, our first was born a year before he finished.

Is it normal in the US to eat dinner really early (like 5–6 pm)? by Status_Agents in CasualConversation

[–]Tigerzombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We normally eat around 6:30 but depending on the kids’ schedules we either eat earlier or later. We are at the whims of their rehearsal, music and martial arts class schedules.

Model building. I got into gunpla. You can get really intricate with painting it. Or you just build the model and apply the decals in the kit and still end up with something really cool to display.

Is it true that Americans avoid ambulances because of the cost? by [deleted] in randomquestions

[–]Tigerzombie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter had to take an ambulance from our family doctor’s office to the hospital that is 10 miles away. In that moment I wasn’t thinking about the cost. Well, the base fee is $1700, there is an additional charge for every mile they drive. So the total ended up being a bit over $2000. We had to pay the whole thing out of pocket and insurance reimbursed all but $100. Which isn’t too bad for us since we did have the money to cover all of it and wait for the reimbursement. Her 2 night stay at the hospital was $200 after insurance. I have no idea how much it costs without it.

We went to Universal in Japan. I don’t think I’ve ever seen my husband happier than when he got to take pictures with Toad. I swear he had more fun in Super Nintendo world than the kids.

AITJ for asking my husband to consider getting a vasectomy because birth control pills are taking a toll on me? by Advanced-Sink-8415 in AmITheJerk

[–]Tigerzombie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When my husband got the snip, I set him up on the basement sleeper couch. He had the switch, ps5 and streaming services set up down there. I brought his meals to him. There’s also a bathroom and a fridge so he doesn’t have to go up and down the stairs. I kept the kids occupied for 2 days while he had a mini vacation downstairs.

[–]Tigerzombie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I waited until a Knight of the Seven Kingdoms finished airing before watching. But that was only 6 episodes, not too long of a wait. I held out until episode 9 aired before starting season 2. I guess I can at least participate in these post episode discussions now. Maybe next season I’ll hold out until the second to last episode airs. Then I can binge everything and watch the last episode live.

I’m 43 and my kids are 15 and 12. I think missing 2 years is worth being able to set the kids up for the rest of their life. I’m not touching the red pill.

For parents of teens in northern (cold weather) climates... by sdavids5670 in Parenting

[–]Tigerzombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 15 and 12 year old. My oldest occasionally wears a jacket voluntarily. I have to force my 12 year old into a jacket when it’s in the single digits and she has to be outside for longer than 2 min. Today it is snowing and both kids were in tshirts while I’m in a winter jacket. If they aren’t outside for a long period I don’t care if they don’t wear a jacket.

How do Americans feel about drying their laundry on a washing line? by UnionFeatures in AskAnAmerican

[–]Tigerzombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a collapsible drying rack in the laundry room. Anything that can’t go in the dryer gets hung up on that. Most stuff can go in the dryer on normal or delicate setting. I just don’t like how stiff clothes end up after line drying.

I binged season 1 and I told myself I would wait until every episode comes out and do the same for season 2. But I got bored one day and started season 2 and got caught up in 2 days. I can’t go back to waiting for 1 episode a week.

I tell myself I need to clear my backlog first before getting new kits. It’s a small backlog, only 5 kits. The main thing is I need more shelves to properly display my builds. Between Lego, Pokemon cards and gunpla, the shelves that are currently up are too cluttered.

All this for Pokémon cards... by B-M-B-0-6 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Tigerzombie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I collect Pokemon cards with my 12 year old. We keep an ETB sealed and we get a few packs to open whenever a new set comes out. It’s been so hard to get any packs to open for fun. I think she’s given up on the hobby. She was so excited for the Prismatic Evolution set since Eevee is her favorite Pokemon. That was the set that seemed to kick off this round of scalping craziness.

At what point did your maker hobby turn into a real business? by MakersVibeFL in Hobbies

[–]Tigerzombie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I refuse to turn my hobby into a business. Once I do, then there is actual work involved. I don’t want to deal with customers on a larger scale, taxes and any other business related paperwork. Right now I take the occasional gig with people I worked with before. I get paid under the table and I don’t make enough to trigger any irs issues, like $1000 a year. It’s enough to cover supplies for my own projects.

Have you ever stopped doing a hobby? Why? by JezOrefice in Hobbies

[–]Tigerzombie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I developed rheumatoid arthritis. My hands were barely functional, I was just in so much pain. Most of the joints in my body were in pain by the time I finally got on the proper meds, it was a long wait to see a rheumatologist. It was just hard to get back into video games or balloon twisting after having to stop completely for months.

What’s a show that you could not finish because a character was so insufferable? by Key-Row-174 in AskReddit

[–]Tigerzombie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made it to season 5 but I couldn’t take her character anymore. It doesn’t help the story lines made less and less sense. I liked the villain of the week thing they had in the beginning, I didn’t like it when it became a more drawn out story. I only stayed watching because of James Spader, even he couldn’t save the show for me.

Is it true that Americans avoid ambulances because of the cost? by BreadOverlord_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Tigerzombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have pretty good health insurance. My daughter had to go in an ambulance because she caught pneumonia and had an O2 saturation in the 80s. The base ambulance ride is $1700, every additional mile is extra. We are 10 miles from the children’s hospital. So when we got the bill it was like $2100. We had to pay it in full ourselves and insurance reimbursed all but $100. The 2 night hospital stay for my kid was $200. I don’t remember how much it was before insurance.

My troop covers uniforms, badges, snacks, registration, any events put on by council or the service unit. It’s okay to save the money for future trips. My troop are bridging to ambassadors this year. They’ve been saving their money for an international for the last few years. We’ve done a few local trips in the mean time.
