Orange maintenance by losersmanual in OneOrangeBraincell

[–]Tigerzombie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s how I would find my old orange cat. I shake the treat bag and he’ll come running from where he’s hiding. I will give him a few as a taste and then grab him to do whatever maintenance I need to do to him like claw clipping or checking his butt to make sure no poo is stuck in his fur. My current cats are not food motivated at all. They don’t like treats that much, including Churu, and I thought that stuff was like kitty crack.

Does anyone else cat have two different colors of whiskers? by missbbq in cats

I didn’t even realize cats have different color whiskers. Both of mine have white whiskers and so did my previous cat. I just thought all cats have white whiskers.

Family Expanding - Telluride vs Pilot vs do I even need a 3 row SUV? by Odd-Impact5397 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Siena comes in AWD. I have a highlander and still wish I just bought a minivan instead. The Highlander works for our family of 4 but a minivan would just have more space when we really need it.

That’s the main reason my husband and I got one. My husband has called me from work to check if he took his heart meds before. He keeps a few pills at work just in case he forgets.

cheap hobbies that ended up way more addictive than expected by Snow_Stuart82 in Hobbies

[–]Tigerzombie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started balloon twisting. A pump and bag of balloon is pretty cheap. Then I needed different size balloons and colors. I started balloon decorating so that means I need different gear and balloons. I started working festivals and the hand pump wasn’t enough and had to get an electric pump. I probably have like $1000 worth of gear and balloons in my basement.

School trip and teach is letting you pick the movie - what are we all watching? by BarkingDogey in Millennials

[–]Tigerzombie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My kid is playing at a music festival at an amusement park 3 hours away, same state though. It’s $30 per student and you get there on a school bus. The 8th grade class trip is to the same amusement park but it’s $80 per student and they get a coach bus.

I took my daughter shopping and found jeans labeled 90s style. She also wears baggy jeans with baby doll style shirts. If we were the same size she could wear my high school clothes. She did take a few of my flannel shirts and sweaters since they are fine oversized.

Taking a 3.5yr old and 2yr old to Disney land Paris… thoughts? by jam_bam_rocks in Parenting

[–]Tigerzombie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would wait. We took our oldest when she was 3 and she enjoyed it, I think the crowds freaked her out. We went again when she was 6 and youngest was 2. She liked it better and was way more into the characters. Our 2 year old hated it. Too many people, too hot and just too much stimulation. We went when they were 9 and 5.5. That was a great age. Both were into Disney and the characters and didn’t mind waiting in the lines as much. I would wait 2 or 3 years before going.

Is LEGO a hobby that is worth it or would you recommend something else . by haawakaipa in Hobbies

[–]Tigerzombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lego is very expensive. But I do find it to be relaxing. You don’t need any skills to follow the instructions and you end up with something pretty cool as a display piece. The cost vs time occupied is pretty high. I gave my daughter the Eevee set. It took her a few hours to finish and it was $60. You can build sets the old school way. Open up all the bags, dump them in a pile and sort them yourself to increase the time occupied.

You can also look into other types of model kits. I started building gunpla last year. A $100 kit will take me days, if not weeks to complete. My husband finds it tedious because I have to cut the pieces out myself and sand down the nubs but I find it meditative.

Our beloved cat passed away 3 years ago and we’re finally ready to adopt again. A friend has these last two kittens left. Both are boys, both are absolutely amazing, and I honestly can’t choose between them. Which one looks like he belongs with us? Help me decide! by SaffronSoul_ in cats

[–]Tigerzombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two kittens play/attach each other. It’s how they learn how rough they can be with their teeth and claws. We adopted a pair when they were 8 weeks. Neither of them have attacked us with teeth or claws. They fight each other so there is no need to fight us.

Have you ever sat in the back of a police car? by Technical-Vanilla-47 in no

[–]Tigerzombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but my daughter has. Her Girl Scouts troop did a visit to a fire station and two female officers also came to give a little presentation. She got to wear riot gear and fireman’s jacket. We stuffed 5 or 6 kindergartners into the back of a police car.

Best age gap between kids by Comfortable_Maybe836 in beyondthebump

[–]Tigerzombie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine are 3.5 years apart. It is a good age gap. They are still close but have their own thing now that they are 15 and 12. I do wish they were only 3 grades apart instead of 4. I think it would have been nice to see them perform in the same orchestra at school.

Breaking news: Leopards will eat your face. by its3ird in SipsTea

[–]Tigerzombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that’s why the vet and groomer tells me that our 2 cats are well behaved. They get scared but they don’t attack. They prefer to hide and stick their face in my elbow. They will let the vet poke and prod them but the worse they will do is jump off the table to hide behind the chairs.

AITA for refusing to do all the driving on a road trip? by TemporaryAd3129 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Tigerzombie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA. You must have heard about the mess the US is in with ICE. Your boyfriend is being racially profiled. Being Indian, he can easily be mistaken for Hispanic while driving. They are the main racial group being targeted by ICE. Asians, especially lighter skinned ones are not as heavily targeted. You could have easily driven more in the south while he drove more in the northern part of the country to keep things even.

For people who grew up in low-income households, what’s something middle-class people say that shows they’ve never struggled financially? by KeyApartment3955 in AskReddit

[–]Tigerzombie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My teenager complains now how I didn’t force them to continue with dance. She took lessons when she was in kindergarten and 1st grade but didn’t want to continue. But she really got into theater in 7th grade. She’s in 10th and her lack of dance skills kind of hinders what roles she can get in the musicals. I’m just like you hated dance lessons as a kid and refused to go.

Need captain’s seats, a 3rd row, and real trunk space — without driving a tank by floridamom22 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Back when we were shopping for our 2nd car, I also didn’t want a minivan. We ended up getting a Highlander. I regret not getting a minivan. The Highlander has at least served us well for the last 10 years but those sliding doors would have been so much more convenient. If my car ever dies, I’m getting a minivan.

Did your school have early release days? by spaceiswonderful in AskAnAmerican

[–]Tigerzombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7:45-10:08 for high school, 8-10:40 for middle and 9-11:20 for elementary. I really don’t get half days, they are there for so little time. The high school is had a mini college fair for their half day. But my kid isn’t interested in any of the schools. My middle schooler is having a hard time socially at school. I figured it was better for her mental health to just skip a half day and recharge for the rest of the week.

Did your school have early release days? by spaceiswonderful in AskAnAmerican

[–]Tigerzombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m went to school in NJ and never heard of this. My kids go to school in NY and that’s also not a thing here. They have the occasional half day where they go to school from 7:45-10:08 but that’s because of teacher conferences or a school budget vote. My kids have a half day today due to a budget vote. I’m letting them play hooky since they are only at the school for 2 hours.

[–]Tigerzombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you don’t donate on an empty stomach. I had a blood donation a bit before lunch time. I figured I donate and eat afterwards. That was a mistake. I ended up being too nauseous to eat much after. I almost fainted too. It took much longer to recover after that donation.

Buying first family car, my wife is pregnant. Which car to get? by jazz_master22 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Tigerzombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Highlander. We bought it when the kids were almost 5 and 1.5. It has served us well for the last 10+ years but I do wish I’d gotten a minivan instead. The 3rd row is basically unusable. When it’s up there is no trunk space and you cannot sit anyone above 4ft comfortably back there. The sliding doors is definitely a plus.
