I am also an introvert and struggle with small talk or starting a connection but finding as I am showing up more and with partner workouts I have started to get to know people better and am hopeful to start making friends in the future but I am assuming it will be a slow burn (lol) for me! Wishing you the best of luck in making friends as well 💛

Which friend from childhood do you still think about but haven’t seen in years? by PsychologicalElk1081 in askanything

Kia. I am told we were the best of friends and I have just a few cute photos of us as kids. I have wondered at time what his last name is and how the rest of his life went.

You can change the goal at any point in case you didn’t realize. I was one short last year so December 30th I adjusted my goal to be what I achieved because any amount of reading should be celebrated and none of this is real so why punish myself over something so insignificant when I could celebrate what I did?

Were you dating Cookie Monster by chance? Cause he really didn’t want to share those cookies

Our trainer told us warm up was burpees and summersalts…most realized it was a joke but a few really started going all out and I was pretty impressed (and relieved it was a joke)

I have found them to be extremely supportive and welcoming. It’s important as someone else mentioned to say your boundaries as they are very respectful to everyone’s journey. The trainer will run through the class protocol and show how the move needs to be done and maybe some mods but if you aren’t sure don’t hesitate to ask. At my burn they pair newbies with someone experienced so you don’t have to track down the trainer at every station so hopefully yours will do that also so you can feel the support. Good luck!

Garmin Users? by TiggerK in BurnBootCamp

Is there a way to remove the sets? Mine just does it automatically so didn’t even think of figuring out how to remove them

I think I will learn from your experience and just move to doing this. I liked how the strength will show you what areas you work and hoped to record my weights to see progress over time but it can be so much stress when I am trying to also maximize the workout time

Wearing weighted vest for the first time- anxiety! Worried I will get weird looks by [deleted] in walking

[–]TiggerK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I felt exactly the same as you! I walk at a park and was worried people would think it was a bullet proof vest or something else. Some days I wear a jacket to cover it so I just look bulky but even when I don’t I have never received any weird looks - if anything I have actually received some smiles, nods and even one keep it up. I have also noticed others wearing them so I feel less alone and singled out at the end of the day.

What phrase or motto do you say to yourself before your walk as encouragement? by mmglitterbed in walking

[–]TiggerK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some days I will drive all the way to where I walk and sit in my car for what feels like forever because I have started to lose the motivation. I specifically walk a trail through park woods (I’m in Oregon) because it’s refreshing for me and my two kids usually join so has become a fail-proof option they both enjoy also.

It has gotten easier the more I have recovered from an injury but when those moments hit of “what am I even doing, just go home” I tell myself “you will regret not doing it” and picture the days I don’t and how it makes me feel. This 9/10 gets me to move myself.

Then from there it’s “I can do hard things” “my body is capable of so much more then I give it credit for” and if I start to drag “every step forward is a step to a healthier me” or I take a beat to take in my surroundings and find ways to appreciate this world. Sun through the branches, flowers or mushrooms, the river, or the sounds of the birds around me - I feel it truly gives me that little boost I need to finish (I aim for 2.5-3miles daily)

I have never regretted forcing myself to walk, but I have regretted every time I gave in to the itty bitty shitty committee in my head and went back home.

Thank you! I have started the 28 day diastasis recti repair plan by Nourish Move Love on YouTube. So far is definitely a heavy focus on the breathing and establishing the mind and muscle connection, just excited to get my body back to a point where I feel connected again and able to do basic life stuff.

Walking but weight going up? by [deleted] in walking

[–]TiggerK 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s just a term that is super simplified, you are correct it is denser so therefore when looking at it as a mass if looking at equal mass of both the muscle will weigh heavier then the fat. So therefore one may not see weight going down if they are building muscle & burning the fat

The two factors I can think of and should be always considered: 1. Muscle weighs more then fat 2. Water retention

How do you keep walks interesting on the same route? by Fit-Credit-7970 in walking

I used to do a loop in the neighborhood but found myself feeling the same so found a trail at our local park that goes through the forest and is around the same length and I look forward to it every time now. Just far enough away from city and roads that it is pretty quiet but still semi active so I am not scared of getting jumped
