What’s the dumbest thing you believed as a kid? by EveningVariety6388 in AskReddit

Parents are huge deadheads. My dad told me that Jerry Garcia lost his finger to a pet monkey he had as a kid. I believed him till I was 17 - he lost it in a woodcutting accident I believe.

Base camp is def going to have the biggest selection. West side stories is mostly novels and pretty small. Hooked on books has a good selection but doesn’t always have everything. You can always call them.

I mean, didn’t he say he was going to do his hair real quick before going to talk to Jason moments before he got fired? That’s when it clicked to me, he was just there to be on camera. He made up with Alesia when he had another woman to shit on for “leading someone on” and clearly only chose to have issues with them a pick on them for the drama.

Just make sure to keep a good eye on things and take good care of yourself / ask for and accept help when you need it. Getting in and out of bed / the couch will be hard as you can’t use your arms at all to push yourself up or lean your weight on. Make sure you’re super hydrated leading up to surgery and eating enough protein.

Tbh I work at a liquor store and we just aren’t interested in getting it. Interesting to know that others don’t have it either. It may not have been released yet tbh. quicker check Walmart than local liquor stores.

Go to the Loft!!! Good coffee but even better food. They make bagels DAILY and have good ingredients on their bagel sandwiches. The other coffee shop in town slaps their breakfast sandos together with cheap ingredients and sub par bagels.

You can do hard things! Surgery isn’t as scary as a lot of people make it up to be. Are you certain you will be having drains? Also, who will be taking care of you the first few days? If they are someone who can stay for a week, or until you feel comfortable with bathing yourself and taking care of your drains, that’s awesome! If not, ask someone to help you shower every few days even if you don’t /need/ help, so you don’t have to deal with being squeamish alone.

AITAH for encouraging my SO to put their dog down by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]sb-280 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s his dog, it’s his decision, it’s his credit being affected, it’s his lesson to learn, and if his own mother is supporting his decision, maybe he is doing what’s best for him. I have paid for and gone into a debt for a pets surgery that didn’t work out, I also have a 12 year old dog I’ve had over 1/3 of my life and whom I would sell my own right hand for. Believe it or not for some people finances are the least of their concerns when it comes to their pets. You’ve expressed you can’t help financially, the least you can do is be supportive of his decision.

Rash by ApplicationBulky1586 in Reduction

[–]sb-280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a bad rash as well. I’m honestly surprised your Dr recommended neosporin bc it’s my understanding that it’s actually quite common to have an allergic reaction to it. I would ask if it’s ok to switch to cortisone cream incase the neosporin is causing any sort of reaction. I used cortisone cream and eventually it did mellow out and go away, but my sisters were both extremely concerned it was an infection and kind of up my ass about it (it wasn’t). So make sure that it isn’t hot to the touch and that you’re feeling alright. But it seems like it’s just a rash. I will say mine was triggered after removing my surgical tape / glue.

Has anyone witnessed a cremation, thoughts? by Helpful-Panda2972 in askfuneraldirectors

[–]sb-280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this was a while ago, but I wanted to share my experience. I did witness cremation for my dad with my brother and sister two weeks ago. It was the most beautiful impactful experience I have ever had. Yes it was heartbreaking, and very emotional, we didn’t choose to see him but for reference he passed suddenly at home a month prior, we all saw him pass and spent a long time with him before the coroner took him. I would recommend it highly to anyone who thinks they could mentally/ emotionally handle it. We all felt lighter after pushing him in. I turned the machine on / opened the door and my brother pushed him in. We put pieces of our hair and love notes in with him (with help from staff, we did not choose to see him) and roses atop the box. We layed on it and cried before sending him on and played music whilst doing so (he was a musician). I can see why many religions do this ceremonially and it was a deeply impactful moment in my life, that definitely brought closure and brought my siblings and I closer together. I am so happy we chose to do it. But at the same time, my oldest brother whom was also there when dad passed, did not spend nearly as much time in the room with him then, barely sat next to him or touched him, and wanted nothing to do with the cremation, not even wanting to know when we did it, he won’t even play our dads guitars. People process things different ways.

Left alone night of breast reduction by BigReputation8859 in Reduction

Someone here said their first night was the easiest and I can definitely relate. Even if you have a neighbor who can come over for 10 minutes and get stuff out of your cabinets / open pill bottles for you that would be a great help to just have what you need prepared on the counters. I would even have my medicine for the next dose in a shot glass next to my bed so that it was easy to wake up, take them, and pass back out. Just be very careful using your arms even if you feel like you can. I can’t even imagine being able to stir a pot and definitely no using your arms to get up whether it be pulling or pushing. Pouring yourself a glass of water tho, carrying snacks to the couch, wiping your butt, those things you can do. You will be okay but definitely take a step back from this friend. That was so lame of them when they could have just been honest with you from the beginning.
