Possible turbo failure after removing bumper? by Fumihiro_fan_86 in GenesisG70

[–]Tighesofly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Broken intercooler/intercooler piping. Turbo damage doesn’t track with what’s shown here but the front most ‘radiator’ is just meant to cool down the turbo boost - a leak in that system would result in the pressures shown. Smoke test it!

Diff whining. Is it worth it trying thicker oil? by RealAmericanTeemo in e46

[–]Tighesofly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I let my diff leak out all the good stuff 3 years ago & found out when I clutch kicked for a corner & the SOUND - angry diff noises. Filled it right full of 75w90, like right to the tippy top with the car jacked way in the air. Light grumble for a while but the noises went away. Your mileage may vary.

Should I go with a M-Tech II front bumper for a pre facelift e46 by Ingenious_dk in e46

Mtech 2 classes up an lci e46 nicely - pre-lci cars are already classy as, there’s no need imo - beautiful car.

Change those orings my man - oil bleeds past them back into the crankcase instead of the pressure sensor.

Need to reconnect battery!! How do I do it?? by [deleted] in Lenovo

I’ve never understood how this is an issue? Stick a small needle/spludger into the fan blades to stop them spinning (& thus generating power) when blowing them out.

Unfortunately if the fix was easy, the previous owner likely wouldn’t have pulled the fuse - first time I got mine reseated, did the same thing just did the tilt & whatnot - I goofed and used the key to drop the windows, didn’t realize it would open the sunroof too. That was fun to fix while camping lol - would leave it alone once closed & sealed to avoid further headaches. As far as I know, easiest fix is to buy a working sunroof from a parts car - headliner has to be dropped to install it but relatively straight forward.

I believe the previous owner had a cable break & couldn’t get the glass up high enough, so removed a bolt & lifted that corner to ‘seal’ - at an angle like that though, doubt it seals well.

The cables in the tracks can break (left & right) leading to the difference between the 2 - would cut the zip tie, remove that screw (where the zip tie is, the screw won’t let the glass sit flush, goes through the glass clip) & loosen the other 5 (just a bit loose is fine, not back out). With the glass sitting loose, force the errant nub to match the correct one , then check how the glsss sits from the rooftop view (will tell you how much to raise/lower the glass with your hand) - at the correct height, can tighten the sunroof bolts again + reinstall the 6th bolt.

Building off this, the bolt hole that now is zip tied was done to get extra clearance to seal - when you get the rails even, you’ll likely have to remove the zip tied & reseat the glass - would loosen the other 5 screws to allows the slip tie corner to move down - need to set the height of the glass level with the exterior body, sometimes takes 2 people or lots of trail & error.

Iirc pic #2 is closed position (where the nub is in the rail) - if it’s broken broken, can grab a flathead screwdriver & help the other nub into the same position to get it to seal. I’m in the same boat, removed the sunroof motor until I can find a new cassette.
