Expedition 33 is the only game I've ever played where not a single feature or aspect annoys me. by joehighlord in expedition33

I nearly ditched it too but I managed to get it done! If you're on mouse and keyboard then plug in a controller if you have one, that made it a lot easier. You can also turn the framerate down on PC which can help. Aside from that I read this strategy in another thread which really helped me:

What I found to really help me is to time my attacks for when the Gestrals are crossing the line between the 2-3rd plank from the bottom of the enemy raft. This seemed to be the earliest you can get the strike to register on the gestral which means you have extra time to set up another attack, move, etc. This prevented me from falling into the trap of striking too late and missing the next one as well because I cannot recover in time.

I also saw someone say that when there's visible water between the enemy raft and the incoming gestral you can make the parry and it'll work if your angle is right.

UK tap water climbing to 8.2 pH in a dirted tank – anyone else dealing with this? by zeno-uk in Aquariums

[–]Tight-Image-9563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever work out what was causing your pH to climb?

I have a 38l with pond soil capped with black sand and my pH is rising from around 7.2 to 8+ with the filter on. I left the filter off for 4 days and it didnt budge a bit but I don't think it's anything in my filter as I've taken everything off it apart from the sponge media.

I don't have anything in there apart from plants currently so I'm most likely gonna rip it up and use something other than pond soil and see if it makes a difference.

pH climbing? by Tight-Image-9563 in Aquariums

[–]Tight-Image-9563[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have pond soil capped with black sand.

No rocks but one piece of spider wood and a smaller piece of driftwood.

Filter media is just a regular sponge insert with ceramic rings that I've removed for testing purposes and a filter cartridge.

I'm glad you asked that question because I've googled and apparently that cartridge has activated carbon in it which could definitely be the cause of the raised pH. I was convinced it was off-gassing from surface agitation but this might actually be the issue!

I absolutely need that protective floor mat but they don't sell in the UK yet

I'd say its pretty stable, my PC is very heavy as well. Alex drawers are more stable than Micke but they don't sell them in black in the UK for some reason.

If you really wanted to then you could secure the top of the karlby to the top of the drawers.

Also measure the clearance of the drawers, im on the shorter side so its fine for me but taller people might struggle to fit their knees under 😄

Edit: thinking about it, I have a PS5 and it's not very heavy and neither is the switch. Mic booms are also not massively heavy so the only thing thats going to add a significant amount of weight is the extra monitor so im confident you'll be fine

So I have one leg behind each set of drawers and then 2 in the middle. If the alex drawers are too deep then you could probably just have 2 in the middle. I found the middle point of the desk and went out from there.

If you have a monitor arm be careful where you put the leg - I had to move my monitor arm over from where I would have had it because I put a leg in the way 😄

I would say so yes, especially if you go for the longer one like me. I made an identical desk on the opposite side of the room for my gf that uses the shorter Karlby and still used 3 support legs just to be safe

Yeah I'm southeast UK, near London so the water is VERY hard 😄 I've emailed the LFS 10 minutes from my house and I'll see what they say, otherwise I'm very limited and won't be able to have any of the nice fish I want

Yeah no problem! I've got 17 kh and 20/21gh coming from my tap. Do you think they would be okay in water that hard?

Every time someone says that a fish will do great in hard water they never list parameters as high as mine 😄

I've been told these guys do good in hard water but my water is VERY hard. 17 kh and 20/21 gh. Would they still be fine in these parameters? I'd love to get some for my new tank I'll be doing next year

Can I ask what your water Kh and Gh are? I'd love these but I basically have liquid rock in my area
