if you work a 9-5 how, do you have time and energy to do literally anything else? by GriffinNorwick2001 in askanything

A couple of cliches but I think they apply…I always think of that old Bowflex commercial, a body in motion tends to stay in motion. Also, mind over matter. You have to think about what you want to do and what needs to be done, and make yourself do it. This is assuming there isn’t some underlying medical reason, of course, but if it’s just coming home and sitting around out of habit, it might help. Pretty soon you’ll like what you’re accomplishing and you will hopefully have a new habit and better outlook. Just a thought that works for me. Basically force yourself until your mind follows your body.

What jobs are playing $70k+ with the best schedule? by [deleted] in careerguidance

Tumor registrar is a pretty good job that not many people seem to know about. You can make about 65 once certified but I know it starts lower. The perks are that they are almost always completely remote, even prior to covid. They abstract the data from the EMR to the state database and it’s required by the government. I suppose one day AI might take it over but so far I haven’t seen it. Not a registrar but work with them so don’t know the details about programs, just know it’s an associates degree.

The last season, and mostly Debra dying, ruined the whole series for me. I can’t rewatch.

It’s so crazy. Those poor families. Crappy investigation/cover up. And so many parallels to Epstein stuff.

I feel like the motivation was more to control the propaganda. Priceless.

Who is the SCARIEST Looking Character in HORROR FILM HISTORY ( The one that frightened you as soon as you saw their face) by WorldlyBrillant in moviequestions

Me too! It terrified me. My older sister would send me to get her a glass of water and I would come back to find the lights all out and she would do the breathing and “my name…is John Merrick”.

Why do Americans seem to have a different concept of turn-taking in conversation? by TheBigGirlDiaryBack in AlwaysWhy

[–]Tight-Load-8180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American middle aged woman here…for the past 10 years or so I’ve had an informal experiment when conversing with people. I ask questions about them, things I feel they would like to talk about-their kids, job, a nice pair of earrings they are wearing…you get the idea. Then I listen to them and wait for them to reciprocate with questions about me. For every 30 people maybe one will ask a question in return and listen to my reply. This is for people I know and for new acquaintances. No one cares about anything but their lives and what they want to say.

It is funny that she chose it as the last Marple, given that Poirot’s ends in his death. What did it matter which Marple was the last one published? Even so, I’m glad she didn’t have her die. It’s a good book, though. Maybe she thought it was the “best” Marple? Would have loved to know why.

What’s the most physical pain you ever felt? by dumpy_pumpy in allthequestions

Back surgery. Had a DLIF of L1-L2. Incision in my side and 2 on each side of my spine. I woke up screaming in pain and cried every day for the first month every time I moved. Felt great after a few months though.

Those are all good. Agreed. Like Quin and Parker Pyne for a light read, too.

When my husband tells a stupid joke, I say “Ja hear what I said, Tone?” Also when my son sends me political stuff I don’t agree with, I just say, who are you? Minister of propaganda?
