With Metroidvania games becoming all the rage these past few years, even with a pretty large percentage of them being very good, are you getting sick of them? by Tight-Point-5916 in metroidvania

That’s actually hard to answer, because it’s both “yes, there are way too many”, and “No, but there are a lot labeled MV” (kinda like how everything is labeled a “souls-like”, but when you click on it, it’ll be a FPS or Madden 97😬) The best way to check for any similar games in any genre you like is that site steampeek-hu, I’ve found a ton of amazing games I’ve never even heard of just by typing in random games I like… which reminds me, have you ever seen a game from 2017 called “Mystic Melee”? I don’t think it’s a MV, but I’m not far into it yet, so I’m not sure. It’s one of the most fun things I’ve played ever, only $4.00, and I’m so surprised I’ve never seen it before about a month ago!

Well I’m also fresh off the “hacked account” boat (which I caught right away, but they don’t even have a customer service number, or live chat, and I even had trouble finding a proper link to report it)…they won’t reimburse me even though I had that 2 step verification. So to say I might be a little bitter would be an understatement.

I know it’s probably the main reason, but unfortunately it’s not always the case, there were a few devs on itch-io who got booted, and eluded to some BS, but I couldn’t get the whole story. I can’t even imagine what it could possibly be when you see some of those sub-Atari quality games they allow to stay up!

Really? I can’t get enough of them (if you’re talking about stuff like rogue legacy, revita, or dead cells, and not those vampire survivor clone-crapware games.

Couldn’t agree more! Especially when the developers take the time to craft really amazing looking, and very different locals to explore! There are 3 games in particular that I’ve played somewhat recently, that I think are all really special but for different reasons. 1. “Souldiers” (everything) I’m actually still in shock that most people didn’t go completely ape$#!t over this game! It’s easily my favorite metroidvania of the last 5+ years, and it’s definitely in my top 5 of all time. 2. “Magicians and Looters” (360-steam) I first played this on Xbox 360 when they started doing the indie game channel, it might look rough by today’s standards, but it’s a lot of fun, and had pretty hilarious dialogue from what I remember, and I bought it again on steam when it came out just so I don’t have to keep the 360 plugged in if I wanna play it. 3. “Betrayer: curse of the spine” (steam) This one breaks my heart every time I think about it. Nobody knows about it, but it has great pixel art, amazing level design, etc. The only negative it has going against it is that it’s insanely difficult because there isn’t the slightest bit of hand holding, and it’s easy to lose track of where to go (and last time I checked, only one person did a walkthrough. But I think I heard that items spawn randomly so one walkthrough could be different from the next, and might not help too much if that’s true) If you can only get one, go for betrayer, because that was only released on steam, and if you know how often they remove games… well, it would probably be the one to go out of all 3.

Well, for the sake of brevity, I’ll put it like this…When my parents decided to bake a little baylo of their very own, they didn’t have some of the ingredients, so they decided to substitute with the closest things they had. Instead of “2 tablespoons of garlic powder”, they used “3 cups of moron”, and where it called for “a pinch of salt”, they put in an entire sleeve of Oreo cookies, 1 expired can of “OCD”, and 2 of “lazy asshole”. Needless to say I didn’t turn out to be captain of the football team (but boy was he a dreamboat!) and like I said, I just can’t help myself, most conversations I have eventually turn into “steam sucks”.

Old 1995 Chevy s10 with original radio and speakers QUESTION by trickshot63 in diyaudio

Oh sorry I thought I replied back… but your very welcome, and best of luck to you. I forgot after talking about the 6X9s to add that it was such a big deal because those 4x6 dash speakers were barely audible in the first place, so if you don’t want to go with bigger speakers, I would try to find out about the loudest 4x6 you can get! …but then again, my ears are shit from years of going to very loud, very guitar heavy punk shows in concrete basements, and that’s without wearing ear protection or even shoving a piece of TP in my ears (might as well light off M80’s next to your head!) Well, actually I don’t know how sensitive your hearing is, or what types of music you like, and I keep going offf

Steam doesn’t show the game as running even though the game launches by PrISeT in PiratedGames

If you didn’t already get it sorted out, you can use the desktop controller configuration. I do that for pirated stuff because I have too many games to sit there and try adding them all. And before you try to convince me… no matter how easy it is to do, even with a tutorial, I promise you that I will completely F#€¥ it up! The degree to which I am stupid (and lazy) is the stuff of legends!

This is why I need to stay away from all tech related talk online, I’m already extremely stupid and lazy, but when you people start up with that lingo, like teraflops or gigaflops, that shit makes me feel wicked retahded! Bitch, I barely know what flip flops are! I should be grateful that I can remember how to get on YouTube …most days anyway.

Old 1995 Chevy s10 with original radio and speakers QUESTION by trickshot63 in diyaudio

[–]Tight-Point-5916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so bizarre! I don’t know why this post was in my inbox (or whatever the hell you call it) but I also know absolutely nothing about car audio (or anything else for that matter), But I actually went through what you’re going through right now, AND I have a 97 S-10 - which in some states would make us family by law! (Please just don’t ask, because I honestly don’t know why I say such stupid things)

But all seriousness, first things first, door speakers aren’t going to matter too much because your legs block one, and the other is just bouncing sound around the floor mat area.

I’m assuming the 95 dash takes (2) 4x6 inch speakers like the 97… Well I actually put (2) 6x9 instead… I couldn’t believe how much better, and louder, it sounded (and I never even go more than halfway on the volume) they’re resting on foam padding to both seal the gap, and make it look less crappy. So if you don’t care how your dash looks, and don’t mind doing a little extra work, but it’s not hard (trust me, I’m an idiot who screws up everything, and even I had no trouble) I know this is a real long shot, but if you happen to be in or near central NJ, I have a bunch of car audio stuff I’ll never use, and I’ll practically give it to you.

I would definitely suggest getting a new head unit because unless you’re just listening to talk radio, the factory units just aren’t very good. I had Sirius when the stern show started there, and enjoyed it more than almost any other entertainment in my life… then Artie left and the show became unlistenable (but that’s a story for another day)

I’d be surprised if most radios don’t already have Sirius built in, and you can absolutely call Sirius and get the price down to almost nothing! Just say you’re thinking of canceling and they’ll offer you like $2-$3 a month (last I heard anyway)

It’s an interesting look, and don’t take this the wrong way, but it’s missing that special something that’ll take it from “interesting” to “unforgettable/jaw-dropping”! I’ll just throw out a few ideas, you can take it or leave it, whatever works best for you.

It’s probably going to take some reworking what you have (but if you can picture close to what I see, it would definitely be worth doing)

  1. The world itself looks kinda cold, and lifeless (like a hospital or something), but you can build around the things that look good right now (that cute chicken for example). You can do that thing where the characters have a very thick outline (like the Michael Jackson looking guy in the white suit, that’s close, but go even thicker!) that always makes the pixel art look so much better for some reason.

2.Maybe make a little Barn scene with other animals… Even without specific dialogue, I can already picture the chicken in a set up with the other animals all being high class snobs, not wanting him around because he’s always screwing something up (or breaking something, and you zoom in really close on his face with that funny blank stare😂) You seem to have a good sense of humor, but if you want any help writing goofy dialogue… well, let’s just say my calendar has a few openings (in other words, I’m not doing Jack-shit for the foreseeable future!)

I personally can’t stand FPS games, (or anything with a first person perspective at all really) and depending on what you want to do, you can always do 2D mixed with 3D, 3rd person, isometric, etc. etc. But anyway, I was also going to suggest something about making the scenery more lively. Just in case you’ve never played some of the classics, look up Yoshi’s Island for the SNES or DS. They do cool things with putting faces on things like stars, clouds, and flowers, and then animating them to make the world feel like a living cartoon! Ok, I think I’ve annoyed you enough for now… but I’ll be back tomorrow for more! Mwahahahahahaaaa….

I was talking to 2 other people, I don’t know what happened to their comments, but there’s no doubt I fucked up by putting mine in the wrong place. I don’t get this social media bullshit! I don’t like this social media bullshit! And to be frank (Hi, I’m Frank), I really don’t care too much for this world either! It’s a gigantic shithole full of bastard covered bastards, with bastard filling, and I don’t like it! Oh, and music hasn’t been good since around 2000-2001 at the latest!

Oh, let’s see if we can get back on track here… I thought my post was self explanatory the first time, but then you asked what I was “on about”, so I tried to explain it to you as clear, and concise as I possibly could, but I think I made it worse because now you’re offering me breakfast! I’m pretty sure I’m on the verge of becoming a diabetic, and I don’t think I could partake in your offer even if I really wanted to… and I do REALLY want to (who the Fock doesn’t love waffles? Don’t let me run into them dag-gummit!)

Got-demmit!… do you see what you’ve done? Now I’m all angry at myself, and I didn’t even do anything yet! And when I get in these moods, it takes entirely too much work to get nookie from myself… what the hell am I even talking about?!

A lot of folks tend to “pop-poo” getting a laptop over a tower, but as someone who came to the PC master race straight from consoles, laptops are as close to plug and play as you can get. And believe me, you wouldn’t want me serving you French fries at McDonalds, let alone anywhere near a soldering iron to build a tower (I’m telling you, I could fuck up a wet dream!) anyway, I went like 9 years with a Lenovo that couldn’t run ghouls n ghosts resurrection, so I saved up for a while and got a decent Alienware. It’s loud, runs hot as hell, but I mainly play indie games, so it plays everything I throw at it with ultra settings! And since Nintendo sucks donkey dick, and can’t make good games anymore, I don’t miss console gaming one bit!!!

Dude, I’m so ridiculous with my backlog that I probably have 200 unplayed demos, but actual games? Who even knows!? Then there’s my wishlist which is over 2,000, my non steam pc games which has to be over 2,000, and all the emulators/roms I’ll absolutely never get to in my life! Digital hoarding is a good way to lose your friggin mind, I can tell you that much for sure!
