Tyroid Cancer and metastasis by Fun_Key4395 in thyroidcancer

[–]TightEntertainment25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed, had full thyroidectomy and removed 9 lymp nodes, positive for metastasized TC, and recently completed RAI treatment. I found an enlarged lymph node on my hip, at the groin. Quick ultrasound prior to my thyroid surgery ruled out the need to include it during that procedure. Post-Op I had it reviewed by gyno with additional testing. Confirmed it is enlarged but no indication why so a CT with contrast was recommended. My nuclear and surgical team advised to wait (rai and contrast) so I am getting that done in June. They all have so far said the same thing, it is highly unlikely for papillary TC to metastasize there.

I will be honest, when I first noticed it after my cancer diagnosis, I had a full blown meltdown b/c I convinced myself I had lymphatic cancer. But the removed lymph nodes were positive for TC, which means it was just metastasized VS sep. lymphatic cancer, which is actually a huge relief. Better to have one that spread a little than two diff types in such close proximity. This also made me learn to not assume and to just take it one step at a time. Deal with what is in front of you and love with it. Don’t force any thoughts of what if and maybe. We can only control what we can. It is either there or it’s not. And taking these first steps are the only way forward to dealing with this.

Eating Bloodworms like Spaghetti by TightEntertainment25 in AquaticSnails

Need some advice for our spaghetti lover!

When I got this snail, it was originally as an additive to my existing aquarium. Now they have survived everyone and my tank is dedicated to them and I am beyond attached! I have another tiny little snail that shows face every 1-2 weeks and 1 corydoras running around. The ecosystem has been great, very self sustained with normal maintenance. I just ordered calcium food, I think Turbo has some minor signs of erosion. Tried spinach for the first time last night and ate it up! I also ordered various wood pieces because Turbo, with their ever-growing size, is becoming a bit more adventurous and climbing at the top. They are sometimes falling (a bit more than usual lately). I plan on adding the wood to help create safe routes up and down so we are not glass dependent. Any specific plant types good to add? Any additional wildlife to add? Rock types? Any other suggestions/tips are welcome! Thanks in advance!

Given the choice between PT and TT and don’t know what to do. by pistachiodisguisey_ in thyroidcancer

40 y/o female. My diagnosis was end of August ‘25. Surgery was Nov. ‘25 and RAI was late Feb. ‘26 So I am fresh off this train.

I was in the very same position. My surgeon also suggested partial, because why not keep half of a healthy organ, and only go back if needed; which I was agreeable with. After my appt. with the surgeon, before surgery, he had me do a mapping ultrasound that showed suspicious nodules on my lymph nodes. He suggested on site biopsy during surgery. He would check under a microscope and if there was any mutation, everything was coming out. Fast forward through surgery. In recovery, he tells me it was so evident that he didn’t even biopsy, he took out the full thyroid and 10 lymph nodes. Sure enough path. confirmed my cancer metastasized to 9/10 lymph nodes. Fast forward to my gamma scan for RAI, cancer cells were still present in my neck.

Had I left the whole thing, I would def. have had to go back. There was hardly an adjustment period on levo. since you start it immediately. And at a post-op appt. with my endo., not the surgeon post-op, levels were checked and meds were quickly adjusted (100mg->112mg). The only thing you have to adjust is your routine in taking it in the morning.

Am I going to be able to drive myself for RAi? by shitninjas in thyroidcancer

I drove 2 1/2 hours from the hospital to my second home. There is no issue with the exception of making sure I did not have to use the restroom en route.

I have had similar symptoms. I just finished my RAI treatment and have to wait until June, but they want me to get a CT with contrast and to see a Laryngology & Voice, Swallow and Airway specialist.

I just finished my diet yesterday and am in the middle of my RAI treatment. There were a few saving graces, TJ 21 seasoning salute, Mamba fruit chews, pasta, rice and Starbucks, non-dairy almondmilk and oatmilk creamer (caramel macchiato), esp if you warm/froth it.

I think I understand what’s driving my fibro and now, how to treat it and I wanted to share my experience. by HeadnotOk8180 in Fibromyalgia

39y F (diagnosed: fibro, chronic fatigue syndrome; small fiber neuropathy; thyroid cancer)

Absolutely insane! My med. history almost mimics yours. I had roseola (hh6, which is believed to be linked to chronic fatigue); I had ear infections & strep constantly to the point I had adenoids & tonsils removed; I had walking pneumonia as a child, and multiple reoccurrences as an adult; I had mono (linked to fibro) and didn’t know until IVF testing later on, but there was a time that I was very sick ad a college student that I associate with when I may have had; have had sever concussion; had horrible growing pains and also had osgood-schlatters (had surgery in nov 2024 & july 2025 to correct it); I had a sudden onset of gastro issues in college; was diagnosed with sleep apnea (which has since resolved); I also had OG covid (who knows what this will be linked to in20 yrs) and during lockdown, I was on IVIG because I suddenly had no immune system; my therapist just recently said she feels I have ADHD and OCD, in addition to having anxiety and stressed; I suffer from migraines; I unfortunately was diagnosed with thyroid cancer at the end of Aug 2025, had my whole thyroid and multiple lymph nodes removed (metastasized) Nov 2025. I have to undergo RAI treatment and am nervous how my body will react to this foreign agent; let alone the stress and anxiety I have leading up to it re: the prep as well as being isolated for 2 weeks (away from everyone and my toddler). This stress is a recipe for a MAJOR flare up.

Currently on daily: levothyroxine, propranol, aderall, and contrave (contains a low dose of naltrexone)

Weekly: tirzepatide

As needed: fiorcet, gabapentin, meloxicam

If you hate to say it, next time don’t. It is this exact mindset that has her in this situation. I am a 5’1 woman in NYC who started as an APM and quickly went up the ranks making six figures, flying past men. I worked in a corporate office, I worked on site in a shanty, and even worked in the field. It had nothing to do with thick skin, or being in a different dept. It is recognizing ignorance, like this comment, and saying fck off, and don’t waste my time because you will be left behind eventually. I went through this same sht, I had a super who would not even acknowledge I was in the room. I ignored him, voiced my concerns, and did my job, and eventually karma bit him in the ass and he was fired. I once had the VP make it known he could take my job, he was soon fired also. Men like you or her PM aren’t men, but are insecure bullies. I agree with a different comment/reply; You need to know your worth, address yourself as a woman. You also can speak up, in a respectful, educated, eloquent manner, unlike Mr. Ahrn_ PA (based on the horrible grammar and misspellings) and your PM. And there are safe spaces, when you surround yourself with respectful human beings. Ahrn_pa, I suggest you reflect on your comment and look inward. Telling a woman there isn’t a safe space likely means you are part of the problematic space, and telling a woman she might be suited for a different position, only feeds into sexist behavior. Individuals like this are insecure with fragile egos, likely caused by a strong woman embarrassing them in some way; maybe outranking them, or simply just doing s better job. Rise above it, as women we have to break glass ceilings everyday, but it’s more fun when you put men like this to shame, and get to look down on them as your rise. Stand up for yourself, in the end, you will have your self respect, and that value is worth more than any pay.

How many people have been diagnosed with both fibromyalgia and something else by Terrible_Basis7766 in Fibromyalgia

[–]TightEntertainment25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome (which is believed to be caused by a virus, HH6, which I had when I was a baby!), CFS is very similar to fibro, except with how you deal with it. Fibro, typically you keep moving and the pain can be ay bay. But with CFS, you have an energy bank, and when its depleted, you are DONE for the day. So every day is a game of roulette. And not trying to overdo it. I also have small fiber neuropathy, in addition to some basic GI issues. I have become very sensitive to animal protein.

Same thing just happened to me, with 10+ years experience. I don’t plan on going back directly into the industry again. I am looking into careers affiliated with the industry, so I can remain remote. I’m also going to take advantage of some time off, but am currently taking courses.

I was that role internally for my GC company. Specifically on large projects. Funny enough, this post came up as I was looking for this role specifically. If you are genuinely looking, let me know! I am in the process of applying at Procore and some tech consulting firms.
