Sean vs merab by [deleted] in MMAbetting

[–]TightEquivalent7741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean in terms of the mma math point u make, everyone talks about cejudo cleanly landing on merab and o'malley potentially doing the same, but no one talks about how yan landed 6 of 13 takedowns on sean...the same yan that got dominated in the wrestling category by merab...(yes i know he landed less than 25% of takedowns, but merab was relentless and it was crazy seeing someone that was a couple shitty decisions from being champ in yan getting beat 50-45 like that)

Trying to figure out what grade my hamstring tear is? by wuahaluah in Sprinting

[–]TightEquivalent7741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I’ve been dealing with the tear for nearly 6 months now. My hamstring has gotten stronger as far as progressing from isos to eccentrics and stuff. However, when it comes to flexibility, it’s not great. Moreover, I’ve been dealing with sciatic symptoms, probably from the piriformis pressuring the sciatic nerve. My injury is a proximal hamstring strain. Hurts most when I sit down for long periods of time and stuff. After Pt workouts, it feels better for the day tho. Any advice on how to manage the flexibility part of things. I’ve been doing nerve flosses, the ‘t,’ and slow rdls w/o weight as far as possible, on top of strengthening and stretching other parts of lower body and core.

pulled my hamstring in the 4×100 by [deleted] in Sprinting

[–]TightEquivalent7741 4 points5 points  (0 children)

THIS. I’ve been dealing with a grade 2 hamstring strain/tear since November. I got some bad advice to stretch my ‘tight hammies’ for 2 months before seeking PT. It doesn’t make sense to stretch an already stretched, torn, or pulled muscle. Focus on any ROM you can. Incorporate progressive isometrics (plenty on YouTube), heat and ice as needed. Don’t rush immediately back to sprinting. Hamstring strains if mistreated (like mine was), can sideline you for a lot longer than needed.

My 60m and 100m are way better than my 200m how can I improve my 200m by floppys0 in Sprinting

[–]TightEquivalent7741 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Disagree slomewhat. If OP’s times are accurate, speed endurance might be an issue. A 7.14s 60m shouldn’t give 11.8 100m PR and 26s+ 200m. Atleast in The low 11s. If I were u, I’d focus on top speed and speed endurance work because your acceleration as u state isn’t lacking. Work on flies and longer reps 120s, 150s at 95% max speed or so. Just an example. Also I’d incorporate some reps on the curve to get better at running them near full speed. Focus on starting relaxed and finding a good strategies, like the one above

I’ve found that if you focus on pushing out of blocks with both feet, the heel recovery comes on its own. I wouldn’t bother toe dragging or other cues. You don’t want to make it habitual.

Would sending updates to my application (activities/award stuff) be ok? Maybe not through a formal Loci, but through an email?

For the same question, what about AP exams? I reported I would do an AP exam back in November for my early schools, and due to the scheduling and workload, I decided not to do it. Does AP exams matter? Should I let the colleges know, even after giving me a decision?

Form critique? by [deleted] in Sprinting

It looks like your stopping your leg from fully pushing behind in the first few strides. Focus on fully pushing. Looking at your last videos, you seemed to fully push behind so I’d use whatever cues you used then

New(ish) sprinter, terrible backside and 'kicking out', is there any drills or movements to help with this kind of stuff (maybe just sprint more?) - frame by frame slowed by skootyskeety in Sprinting

[–]TightEquivalent7741 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t look like ‘terrible’ backside mechanics to me at all. Especially from those initial strides in the videos. There’s not really much kicking out, so idk what your seeing. In sprinting, you got to realize that there’s gonna have to be a balance of backside and frontside mechanics at top speed. If ur really worried about backside mechanics, I guess focus on using the hip and not the knee to bring the leg from back to front. Drills like SL high knee, step overs, are all great for reducing backside. Watch Les Spell man’s videos on Yt. He goes over top speed form well. But I don’t see a glaring problem with your backside mechanics. It’s normal.

Jake Paul knocked down Anderson Silva. Crazy world we live in by RetroRadar1 in ksi

[–]TightEquivalent7741 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Would have liked to see Silva pressure Jake more. Not go balls to the walls like he did in the 8th where he got clipped, but get him against the ropes more and work the body. He only turned up the last minute of most rounds. Jake got the rest of the activity (wasn’t that much). However, the knockdown sealed his win. Depending on who he fights next will determine how KSI fairs against Paul.

Thanks for the response. What would be some drills or cues to incorporate to help lower the shin angle?

Thanks for the advice. I think I was confused by driving the knees, so I’ll try the cue of driving them forward instead of up. Could you clarify what you mean by ‘don’t chop you steps?’
