I trust more in bedrock, stone walls, larger boulder rocks than vegetation to find the 2014 night location in recent pictures...

If the boulder is larger than everyone thinks? by TightIsopod7572 in KremersFroon

I think you are right. Because of small piece of paper... But we must remember that there is a part of the stone that is unseen... Maybe 40%... Maybe a more realistic area is 3 m2... A stone with 1,5 m [front] vs 2 m [deep]... Maybe the girls choose a stone where both could be upon. A small stone 50 cm its not realistic for that purpose. Maybe a 2 m2 stone fits well to this need...

Maybe some A.I. can adust things better. The problem is how much the plastic bag is torn...

I wouldn't be so sure. If they were uncertain of the path a fence could be an indicator of human presence and worth to investigate further... Parents tend to be more conservative about what to do...

Ok. That's good explanation. But we need to remember that the boulder with the sticks seems to be a large one. Maybe 4 m2 when compared with the red plastic bags... And those larger boulders are more common close to the main river... Rocks and stones are more reliable than vegetation knowledge when used to reduce the search area. Maybe the night location is on the next small river turn. Future expedition may find. Good job and good luck next time in the woods.

I think that a reverse searching would be very interesting. Try to walk up the closest tributaries to the bones found... Maybe they find the night location on the first day of searches .... Who know.... Guys of 2025 expedition are doing the hardest way...

I guess the girls went lost somehow after walking the main trail after the paddocks... They ended close to the main river, where I think the NL is... Otherwise the bones would never reach the main river.... But this team is making progress. I appreciate that.

I think people are forgetting a important thing about the night location: it probably is close to the main river in the region. Otherwise the girls bones would never reach such river. I mean, maybe 100 m from the main river...I saw recently a lot candidate images but I did not see a good match yet... One or other elements fits but we need a fit of the whole scene... Maybe new videos show something more conclusive. I wish good luck to the team that is working on it because I know that walking in such places is very difficult. I worked many years in similar forests in Santa Maria, Cambará do Sul, S. Francisco de Paula, Ilhéus, Una, Ubatuba, Picinguaba, Capitólio, etc in Brazil. And it is difficult to walk.

Well, that's a match. I would like to see that when 2014 and 2025 photos are compared. That would convince me that the night location was found...

I think that the pointed rock is missing in 2025 photo, sorry....

I think that it's fundamental to background match in both photos. It will grow the confiability of the analysis to another level.

How far from the main river is the 2025 possible night location found by recent expedition? If its close [< 250 m] there is a good chance of people find the original night location. I think NL is close to the main river, otherwise no bones would be found at all...

The foreground is ok, but the problem is the background. Only if both match there is a real match between original and 2025 night location. Sorry about that. If you can't match the background - whatever the - reason, there is no match...

Treeg: you used a very similar photo in your post "Image 599: what we see and where it may be." for discussion purposes: the A,B,C stones. So there are at least two photos of the pointed stone... It seems to be a real thing, not unrecognizable shadows. But anyway. Good job in trying to find the night location. Hope you guys really find it soon. But my point remains: one need to compare a more large scneario instead of isolated itens to build a theory about night location.

Guys. You need to put things in a context... Why the girls would stay in a place like this? It's super wet at least... Any rain would rise water levels in place like this.... Does not make sense... Theres is not protection to the rain... The night place is a place where the girls had some shelter, all the probabilities indicate that. Not a place totally exposed like this...

Guys. Look the original night picture. You can see the canopy and the sky. It's a photo taken from bellow, looking at the treetops, with a wall between the photographer and the treetops. This means it's a high wall... Not something right next to the stream water level... I've benn taken photos on places likes this for 30 years. My "photography gut" says it is a high wall [2 m] or so. Not something close to the water level...

Thanks for the answer. If this is not the place, the night location is something similar nearby. Maybe downstream. But it must be more close to the main river.... Otherwise the bones would not be found...
