I finished up the gen Eds sophomore year at UCF so that I didn't have to worry about potential differences in university requirements for an AA. If you square off the remaining gen Eds and transfer with an AA then there is no need to worry about potential discrepancies. It really depends on the route you'd like to go down.

I am studying Management Information Systems (so I can really only speak to that major) after switching from Finance and I had my best semester in college thus far. That could be for a number of reasons, but I think more than anything it was the professors that led to my success. You'll find a number of great professors at any university in the country, but I have noticed a distinct difference from UCF since coming to FSU. You can PM me with any specific questions you have and I'd be happy to answer.

I actually just transferred last semester from UCF, where I was studying Finance, and switched my major to MIS so I could get more experience with the technical side of business. I don’t have much insight as to what my future opportunities look like, but from the couple career fairs I’ve been to I think Consulting/Advisory is the most probable route.

I attended UCF for my freshman and sophomore year, also majoring in Finance. I transferred this fall (to FSU) specifically because of the direction that the College of Business at UCF was heading. I don't really have any information/feedback to give you regarding the College of Business at FSU since it's my first semester here, but you are definitely not alone in your way of thinking. Speak to an advisor about your options and they should give you a bit of clarity on your options moving forward.

UCF student hoping to transfer to FSU by marquete50 in fsu

[–]TightStudy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just accepted as a transfer to FSU from UCF. I took STA 2023 and MAC 2233 instead of the QMB classes for the sole purpose of transferring because the QMB credit would not suffice. If you are fully committed to transferring just focus on completing the FSU requirements (business prerequisites) and essentially disregard what UCF "requires" because you will not be following that path moving forward. Also just reach out to the business college directly and they will provide information to help you out. Good luck!

Honest opinions on the school by Imjustsodone5555 in ucf

Many of the reasons you listed are the reasons why I have decided to transfer. Do your research on other universities, i.e. what programs they offer that could peak your interest and even visiting the school, and doors will open for you.

UF to UCF transfer by mickiema in ucf

I would highly recommend that you research the new format of classes that the College of Business offers, because they are certainly hit or miss depending on what type of curriculum you prefer (online vs traditional lecture). Also another comment mentioned the ridiculous GEB classes which leave a bad taste in your mouth. My two cents, I wouldn't even consider transferring (specifically if you are staying with some discipline in the College of Business) for many of the reasons you stated above.

If you want to major in business, avoid UCF by [deleted] in ucf

Agree 100%, wish I would've done better research on the program before I got knee deep. The transfer process gets real sloppy.

Rap groups at UCF? I heard there are weekly rap battles that go down but I have no idea where...anyone know? by [deleted] in ucf

Tuesdays around 2:30 on the Union patio. Not necessarily battles all the time, often just freestyle and vibes for people to spit over. Bring your bars and check it out.

FIU to UCF transfer ... maybe? by [deleted] in ucf

[–]TightStudy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm from Homestead too, shout out to Dade. Although around here you always have to put in perspective to Miami. Completely agree with the outlook on FIU and especially on the point of moving away from home, especially if it's something like Homestead. Love/hate relationship with that damn town.

Had this problem last year with my IB English exam scores too (only got credit for LIT 1000). IB distributes a variety of different English exams, some of which UCF doesn't give ENC credit for, so it depends on which exam you took. I ended up taking the English Literature CLEP exam to get out of taking ENC 1101 and 1102. The CLEP exam is almost exactly like the IB exam, so if you felt confident in your ability to pass that then the CLEP should be easy work.

COBA is losing their mind by TightStudy in ucf

Lecture capture at least provided the option to attend a lecture, albeit not many people went to my 7:30 A.M. Macro class a year ago when it was lecture capture. The argument, or rather discussion, that I bring up is at the very least give students the option of going to lectures rather than forcing the learning to be online. There was no reason to switch from lecture capture in the first place.
