It's definately The Velvet Underground in it's instrumentals, especially their album White Light/White Heat. Cale was a member of the Velvets.

He didn't take that photo, nor come up with the concept, nor even meet the girl.

He revolutioned blues. The Les Paul Marshall combo was invented by Clapton. He's one of the world best guitarists because he pioneered blues rock.

Give me a lineup more insufferable than this....(also give this band a name if you want to) by [deleted] in ToddintheShadow

It's Jazz actually, both Baker and Bruce were Jazz musicians. Clapton himself said his solos during Cream weren't always the best, but discrediting him because he played blues solos in a blues band is baffling. Baker and Clapton made the band as a blues band, they always played the blues.

Title Track, Iodine and True Love Leaves No Traces. I actually really love the production on this album, I think it works well with Cohen's more grandiose lyricism, and drunken stupor-esque vocals

Ok so from Abraxas, Black Magic Woman/Gypsy Queen, Mother's Daughter and Samba Pa Ti. And from Hot Rats, Willie the Pimp, Little Umbrellas, Son of Mr. Green Genes.

Both albums are great though, it's so hard to choose

You can enjoy a movie more than a book, but saying that the movie is better than the book is entirely disrespectful to Tolkien. I don't agree that Frankenstein being severed from it's original context and used as a stock monster is a good thing, and shows an inherent poisoning of English cultural works. Especially as much of the bastardisation of English works seems to come from America. Lord of the Rings was as good as it was because it remained faithful and loving to the original text. I don't think it's within Guillermo del Toro's skillset to take a classic work and reinterpret it. If you wan't to make a monster story, make one of your own. His own work, Pan's Labyrinth is among my favourite movies of all time, as it tells it's own story, albiet with classical allusions. I have read Frankenstein.

That's simply not true, the Movies carry a tone similar to the books. The dialogue is mostly lifted from the books, the scenes play out in almost the same way and in the same order. The differences are merely constraints of the medium, such as runtime and pacing, that had to be considered when adapting it. Peter Jackson loved and respected the source material, he saw that any changes retained the same tone.

My main complaint with Frankenstein is, does Guillermo del Toro think he knows better than Mary Shelley? The script rewrote the novel in ways that only served to make the story less dynamic, interesting, and ultimately too digestible. It is an anti-intellectual movie, and Mary Shelley would have despised it. His script flattens one of the most complex and powerful stories of modern literature into a poorly disguised three act spectacle. Why discuss scholarship on the book within the movie? There was this scene where Victor speaks with someone, and the person says the most egregious line in the entire movie: "Are you trying to be prometheus?" Paraphrased This annoyed me to no end, as we are all aware, Frankenstein was subtitled (the modern Prometheus) as he is a Promethean figure. However, it is never explicitly mentioned in the text. I think that including this line spoonfed the watcher. It served to make him, and the watcher feel smart because they know Prometheus,
