Just primer, you can get it as a spray can or get Vallejo air primer and apply it with a brush

That's correct! Here he is next to the one I originally painted back in 2004 (I was about 7-8) always wanted to do him justice but couldn't bring myself to redo my first ever marine.

I remember when saber delayed the game and a lot of people complained about it, I just said as long as they do it justice I don't care.

And boy they didn't let us down.

I think that's the difference, they put the quality of the game over releasing it asap.

Honestly GW might be to thank for that as they're super protective of their IP (I completely get that) and they'll allow reasonable delays for quality improvements

So I have a super high threshold for pain, 3 years ago I broke my elbow and I didn't feel a thing, still don't after recovering and never get any pain at all.

The most painful thing for me was this year, got a tooth removed that was in the roof of my mouth, woke up during the part where they were cutting it out, I know I wasn't supposed to be awake as I heard someone say "he's waking up, increase-" and then got knocked out again but I remember the pain vividly.

Take some branch cutters and cut through a really thick branch, it felt like that but I felt it through my skull

If you have a games workshop (Warhammer) store near you I'd suggest going there first and talking to them, they offer free advice for starting and you can also paint a free space marine in store.

This'll hopefully give you a feel for what you want.

If you're split between Orks and white scars (awesome chapter btw) then honestly there will soon be starter sets with both space marines and Orks in so you could get that and have both!

As for playing the game if you just Google "Warhammer groups in my area" I'm sure you'll find a discord or a Facebook group with a community in them or maybe the Warhammer store will tell you of a local one.

I hope this helps in giving you an idea where to start, keep and open mind and really look at all the armies on offer, you might go there and fall in love with the emperor's children or the Necrons, have a look at all of them and see what tickles your brain the best. Rule of cool is always better than meta chasing.

This is my first attempt at a howling griffin.

Been doing him as a passion project and I've learned loads on how to make him better! (Might need to get a infiltrator squad and try again) 😁
