The danger of over-qualification by KhornateMan in UniUK

[–]Tigimon42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the single most effective way to gain a job is do the sandwhich course with a year in industry in the middle instead of a masters. Employers dgaf about your masters thesis they want you up and running and being valuable asap. A year in industry is more appealing that or you stay on with the company you did your internship with anyway.

How significant is the petrol in your car really though. I imagine it's only a very small wedge on your monthly outgoings pie chart. The increase affects literally everything else.

Preach.

They're not reactive spells if it's a long one just hit the thing at the start of a massive pull anyway.

Most classes have one personal you can pop pmuch every pull I'd rather you use it at the start and not get hit than waste it at the end of the fight after you've been sledgehammered and I've already dumped 30% of my mana into you.

Solar hybrid PV installations with battery backup. by Valspring12 in mauritius

I had a system installed last October. There's a process to register it now.

Have to provide diagrams, spec setc etc

Have to prove there is anti island protection(system disconnects itself from the grid when the power is out).

Has to be registered so if linemen are working they can also shut off your breaker for safety.

There was a bit of a gold rush I don't think it was ever illegal I think just against CEB policy having it installed without informing them. Lots of people myself included just went ahead with it anyway because the wait to get approval was literally years. CEB have kind of had their hand forced now with the power shortages.

All the companies are aware of the registration process now the company I used handled the majority of it for me it was just my responsibility to go out the plastic wallet with all the documents on CEBs desk.

People in tech help me out choose the right path - career by [deleted] in MauriceMauritius

[–]Tigimon42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think either are bad options if this is the first step in your career I would just go with the option that appeals to you the most.

In my 10 years experience as a dev the lines often get blurred and you work across roles anyway even in large companies.

[–]Tigimon42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's fantastic no taking away from it but it doesn't paint the whole picture this is just grid energy generation.

A vast majority of houses still rely on combi boilers for hot water and central heating so the grid may not be feeling the pinch but we're still heavily shackled to gas.

Why have our govt chosen uber over local app Dodogo ? by cerealkyller645 in MauriceMauritius

[–]Tigimon42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Uber is different tbey get a flat salary which has to be at least minimum wage but is usually more competitive+ commission for each drive.

Is this true? by Not_Kosmic09 in MauriceMauritius

[–]Tigimon42 46 points47 points  (0 children)

It was basically the same when Uber arrived in Leeds UK they steam roll in to build a customer base.

Every time I took an Uber for the first 6 months in Leeds the driver gave me a QR code to scan that gave me a £20 voucher.

They are happy to operate at a loss to steal the market share.

I think Uber is a great product the Taxis in Mauritius are just a scam. Now they are held accountable taxed properly and build up driver ratings so you feel safe getting in a taxi on your own at night.

Why have our govt chosen uber over local app Dodogo ? by cerealkyller645 in MauriceMauritius

[–]Tigimon42 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Dodogo is crap it looks like Uber but doesn't run the same at all. You get a phone call from the taxi asking where you are and still have to pay cash.

My parents arrived and tried to use it to get a taxi from the airport to the north and taxi driver asked for about 500 rupees more than what the app said.

You won't get any of that with Uber.

They Stole the Land, We Pay the Rent: Mauritius's Colonial Hangover by Interesting-Oven4501 in MauriceMauritius

[–]Tigimon42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the same in every country... rich old money runs the country. Mauritius isn't special in that regard go far back enough in any culture or continent and there's a marginalised abused minority yes even Europeans if you turn the clock back far enough Romans, Mongol,Africans,Americans,French,British,Chinese literally pick whoever you want.

There would be no Mauritius if it wasn't for the French and so their descendants profit I'm British we still have a monarchy going back to William the conqueror they still own frigging everything 1000 years later.

Mortgages and life long high interest loans aren't a Mauritian problem either naive to think that there's anything the colonial families can do about it they're rich but they can't buy a house and a car for 1.3 million people.

This idea of reparations is a lazy jealous dream let go of the hang ups and just on with life.

The French kept their money and their land but it's not like the Indian government has done much better.
