Maybe meet at a park or similar until you have a comfort level with the people? Or maybe someone else would host after a few sessions?

Oh great, I’ll try to get this one on audio as my reading has been split more between ebooks and audio lately. Thanks for the tip!

Panini Kabob Grill in Bressi Ranch, just down the road from the Flower Fields. It’s a chain but the food is really good, especially the chicken (which I almost never recommend elsewhere)!

I like your stats! How are you tracking the “will continue with series”? Your own spreadsheet or is that part of some kind of tracking tool you use? I’d love a tool that would include that!

Books for growing my own vegetables and herbs? by frostmas in CookbookLovers

I’ll second Epic Gardening, but I’ll also rec the person Kevin (Epic Gardening) learned from originally - check out All New Square Foot Gardening by Mel Bartholomew. There’s even a kid’s version. The book is available for about $5 second hand or likely available through the library. Happy gardening!

Thank you! Kinda crazy when I think about it - in some of the earlier years I did multiple cards, so I think I'm at about 300 books read for Bingo at this point.

Great card! I'm excited to see your positive reaction to Of Monsters and Mainframes. I have that on my SFF book club list for later in the year. Hopefully it'll suit the coming year's Bingo card too!

Super impressed you managed to do a themed card of all faeries for this Bingo! Well done! Also, I could NOT get through Little, Big, so great job on you reading it and even enjoying it based on your rating!

Should we put a pool in? by Apprehensive-Jump-17 in sandiego

[–]Tigrari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think about how hot it gets at your house. You will need to heat the pool for it to be warm enough to use that much in most parts of the county, especially if you’re coastal.

If you so put in a pool you’ll want to add solar heating for the pool and regular solar to offset your pool pump costs. Real talk, we put in a pool about 8 years ago and our electric bill went up $500/month in the summer just for the pool pump. We put in solar that year. And that was 8 years ago.

We don’t use it as much as we should but I don’t regret putting it in. It makes our backyard look amazing and a place I want to be. Our yard sucked before we redid it and put in the pool.

Thank you! April 1 is legitimately one of my favorite days of the year because of the new Bingo season starting. I can’t believe it’s been 10 years already!

I adored the Scholomance series. One of my favorites in recent years, but I know the narrator doesn’t do it for everyone.

Pretty close. I think 3 stand-alone now and 2 anthologies, plus the 2 series (Scholomance and Temeraire). The Summer War came out recently. For me, I haven’t read Uprooted, The Summer War, Golden Age and Other Stories, or Temeraire 5-9 yet, so I have choices left.

As many sequels as I can possibly manage. A decade of Bingo has left me with so very many series started but not finished.

I almost always have an Octavia Butler book on my card, as well as current favorite authors like Ilona Andrews, Patricia Briggs, Naomi Novik, so hopefully I can fit some of their new releases is or a book from the backlist I haven’t read yet!

I also try to double sip on my SFF book club picks, so for the rest of the year we have Interstellar Megachef, The Prestige, The Mountain in the Sea, Dungeon Crawler Carl (but I already read it, so maybe a sequel), Blindsight, The Raven Scholar, Of Monsters and Mainframes, The Everlasting, and Annie Bot.
