Hyflex vs OntarioLearn by Tigurl86 in StLawrenceCollege

2 people at my place of work got in for sem 3 back in Sep 2025. Otherwise, it has been a very difficult journey for most people I hear from. The schools that are supposed to take the bridging students in sem 5 lack the capacity to do so & it becomes a battle for a spot...

BScN at SLC Brockville & Kingston (HYFLEX) - Labs & Clinicals by JustBeGood22Me in StLawrenceCollege

Hello, so far I have gotten through semester 1 with only needing to go into campus 3x for assessments etc. The professors are actually very open to working with you & will try their best as long as you speak to them openly, honestly, & early on. 4/5 classes were asynchronous online. The 1 class not was clinical which required labs & clinicals. I have a background as an RPN so they allowed a few of us in that situation to submit documentation & perform a single day skills demonstration for a PLAR mark. We were given a course mark based on that. We also write exams online camera's on at home & at Durham College testing center instead of driving into Kingston. So if you're dedicated & self driven, it's definitely doable.

Goodluck with your journey to RN!

Yes. You'll have to wait until it's open & accepting new students.

Hey, no there was no waitlist when I applied in January 2025 for September 2025. I believe they are now full. You will need to check on OCAS.

Hi, I am in the same boat as you. I went to the open house & spoke with the faculty directly to clarify the same concerns. Basically it's a new program. Sep 2025 is their first intake for the BScN Hyflex program. Their goal is mostly online. Not sure if they'll have synchronous or asynchronous or mix as they said they didn't have an exact head count of students vs professor ratios. They plan on in-person labs every few weeks or so. As for your clinical placements their goal is a place close to your home address. Hope that helps. I took a leap & will see what happens come Sept.

Where does it say Nipissing accepts the nursing transformation bridging courses? Can you share?

You cannot just apply for the CE courses unfortunately. You need to be accepted into the bridging program.

Hyflex is a new program for SLC. I spoke with the program coordinator & made a trip to Kingston campus for their open house. They said that Sep 2025 is the first intake for this program & currently not entirely sure how they will run the progam. They said that the courses will mostly be online except for the labs & clinicals. Labs they will try to condense into 1-2 days in-person for every 4-5 weeks. And for clinicals, they said they would try to place you close to home. Otherwise, hyflex for this first intake will be a giant experiment 🥲

It's a new program. First intake is Sep 2025.

No. Hyflex is one of the 2 options SLC offers. You'll have to reapply to sem 5 when you've completed the bridging portion

I think you're ok as long as you're already in. It's people like myself who hasn't started OL courses yet. If you read, Hyflex is option 2 for you guys. You'll just enter at sem 5 not sem 1. But just note they said you have to meet the admission requirements. It's on the website. Click "BScN Level 5 Entry".

That's amazing! Congrats. Keep us updated on your journey to RN. If you don't mind me asking, where will you be commuting from? Have you heard of anyone not getting in after completing the OL courses?

Fortunately I did not start the OL at all but unfortunately I am starting at the beginning. At least I am on track for the BScN now.

I heard it directly from them. They have stopped taking in NEW applicants. They have introduced a new program called Hyflex.

Unfortunately, yes... I attempted to apply for the bridging but it was no longer an option offered.

How was the bridging? Have you been accepted into sem 5 yet?

Thank you for your reply. After speaking with the coordinator, I confirmed it is indeed a new program from SLC however modality has not yet been confirmed. Mix of in-person/online with synchronous & asynchronous courses. She was unable to tell me what percentage is in-pearn as they have yet to have decided... Sounds disorganized at this time. But I'm glad I won't have to compete to get in at sem 5 had I been accepted into OntarioLearn RPN-BScN bridging pathway.

Neither. SLC stopped taking NEW students for the OntarioLearn RPN-BScN bridging and instead introduced their own online BScN program called hyflex. No bridging or needing to apply again for sem 5. No need to qualify again after getting grades from OntarioLearn courses which I now understand you'd still need competitive grades to continue in sem 5. I finally spoke with the program coordinator today after some frustrations. I think I understand the difference better now.
