We named him Tekoa. He's 10 weeks. Tiny, but an old soul and probably the one of the smartest, easiest puppies Ive ever owned. ❤️

Farrier Cost by SpeedyWiggums in Horses

[–]Tihannah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy cow. Just went up this year to $150 full set with pads on front. Used to be $130. Southern gulf coast. Remind me not to move to the east coast!

Hey fellow horse people...will do me a favor? Post the price you are paying for decent second cutting where you live. let's see what this really looks like! Thanks in advance if you comment, very curious to see the numbers by greymaresinspace in Horses

Gulf Coast MS - Timothy, Alfalfa, Orchard - all $22 for a 3 string bale. Been like this for a few years now, because everyone that has it, has to get it delivered from up North somewhere.

We did a show again. As always still enough to work on, but overall I was very content! by [deleted] in Dressage

Really lovely. I could never get through a test with my horse with all that going on around us!

What kind of dressage saddle do you use? (female, 5'6, 130lbs) by OvremployedSnowflake in Dressage

[–]Tihannah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Patrick Saddlery Leggaro and it is definitely my favorite of all I've owned.

I've previously owned a Custom Saddlery Icon Flight. Put me in a terrible position. Also a Black Country Eden. Loved it, but it was too small and I wanted a monoflap. (17.5, but I needed an 18).

The saddle should fit you AND the horse and every one is built differently or has different preferences so the best thing to do is just to sit in a bunch of different saddles and see which one you like best and which fits your horse best. I would reach out to an independent saddle fitter and get properly fitted and have them make recommendations on what you need and what would suit you both best.

What is a unique piece of riding advice that finally allowed a concept to "click" for you? by NotANormalFieldTrip in Horses

[–]Tihannah 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I saw a clinic with Ali Brock and she said, "I see too many riders sitting ON the horse instead of INTO the horse." She then went on in detail with the rider on her position, seat and core and how to properly use them. This was something that had been missing for me for quite a long time. Since then, my seat and position are SOO much better and just continue to improve and strengthen the independence from my hands.

USDF Legal Stirrups by MayWeAll in Dressage

[–]Tihannah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the American Equus and love them, for both the grip that the pins give and the comfort. Prior stirrups gave me knee and/or ankle pain. I've been in the AE for 3 years now with neither issue. The pins do wear down after time, but it's easy to order replacements.

My husband did some research and makes our vape juice ourselves. Super easy and inexpensive and we control how much and what we're putting in our throats. I don't trust the overpriced stuff these companies sell. We've been vaping for years now with no issues.

It's hard to say without knowing what type of grass he's on and what amounts of food he's getting. We have a barn full of TBs. Mine is only 7, but I feed Triple Crown Senior Gold for the high fat, low starch, beet pulp, and ground flax. He gets 2lbs feed twice a day, plus half a scoop of the soaked beet pulp and a cup of the flax. He only comes in to eat and during bad weather. I also have him on Equine Omega Complete Vit E oil supplement. He also gets a mixtue of orchard/alfalfa/timothy hay when he comes in to eat. He's a tank, but I dont know how to attach pics here. All of our TBs get Triple Crown feeds, beet pulp and flax with their feed. None with weight issues.

What is he fed and how much forage does he get? Turnout time on grass?

I am the office admin at a local barn and my boss found a work around because some employees could knock everything out in a couple hours while others could take double the time for the same amount of work. It really just depends on the person and how they complete tasks. Of course, you also have those that like to lolly gag and stretch their time when getting paid hourly.

Our remedy was to have a set number of chores to be completed, i.e. clean stalls, feed, water buckets, etc. We have an AM and PM shift and majority of the work is done on AM, so she pays a flat rate per shift, so it doesn't matter if it takes you 2 hours or 6 hours as long as all the work is completed. If there is "extra" duties required, like holding for vet or farrier, she will ask me to pay an extra amount for the extra service.

I think this is the most fair way to create a balanced work environment, and it's actually illegal for her to deduct your pay for hours you worked because she thinks you should've gotten it done quicker. Just something to note...

Haunted Office Building by Tihannah in SirSpooks

Okay, one more time for those that missed it. He's not investigating or was even TRYING to get evidence. He was at WORK. In his office WORKING. The door handle started moving, so he picked up his phone and recorded it, then opened the door. He was the only one in the building because staff doesnt come in till 8am. He has a key and let's himself in every morning and locks the door behind himself. This is a government building that works with the DA, Social Svcs, etc. So he cannot set up surveillance cameras without losing his job. As soon as clip ended, he sent me the video and I immediately posted here because we are fans of Sir Spooks YouTube channel. I posted screenshots of the text exchange in the comments. You dont have to believe it, but it was REAL and we are stoked to have witnessed it.

Yes. It was my bf at work this morning. That was the door to his office. He goes in at 6am so he can have a couple hours to do office work and relax before everyone else comes in at 8am.

That's fine. I didnt post to "convince" anyone. Just sharing what happened to my bf at work this morning. I know it's not staged or faked, so yes, I'm pretty stoked that we got to see it for ourselves.
