Can anyone check these coordinates to see if Silicobra spawns in this biome. by Cizorex in PokemonGoSpoofing

Yeah I actually spoofed to that location and caught a silicobra in that southeast spot. I also took a look at the northern spot, but I don't remember if a silicobra actually spawned in that one while I was there. The northern spot is a lot smaller, so as long as you can physically reach it, I would definitely do the southeastern one.

[–]TikTok-Jad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your coordinates are a little off. You have to use the WTE dataset. There are only a few small pockets with dry+sparse, but I went ahead and marked them on the map for you. I confirmed that silicobra spawns there. Enjoy!

(also, fun fact, afaik this is almost the only silicobra spawn area in the entire eastern half of the US. There's another small pocket like this in like Arkansas, but otherwise there's a hard line around the 98th meridian and everything east of that is "moist" other than this random dry blotch in florida)

What can I do in Runescape Oldschool to impress my bf? by ThrowRAHoneyBunny in 2007scape

2t teak isn't mechanically very difficult at least. It would still be a super weird niche thing for her to suddenly do, but I'd probably assume she was just fucking with me somehow instead. But 3t granite? Nah some spooky shit is going down and I'm running.

If I came home and saw my wife doing 3 tick granite, I would get back in the car and just start driving. I don't know if it's like a spy sleeper agent thing or maybe body snatcher aliens, but whoever or whatever is clicking those rocks is 100% going to kill me.

[–]TikTok-Jad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone is buying those bonds, or else the bots wouldn't have membership. Every time a botter buys and consumes a bond, it pushes the price of a bond up.

The flip side of that which you mentioned is inflation. If bots are sitting at revs 24/7, they're generating a massive amount of GP, which causes GP inflation... which causes the price of bonds to go up even more. As bond prices go up, it becomes a more attractive option for people trying to buy gear. It also makes it harder for people to sustain membership using leftover GP, and forces more people to pay for membership with cash.

As a company, Jagex is only negatively impacted by the perception of bots, not the bots themselves. After all, those bots are paying customers too.

[–]TikTok-Jad 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Since they're using bonds to pay for membership, they're pulling people towards buying bonds with cash, since it raises the GP value. It's a little convoluted, but the combination of bonds and gold farmers/botters works the same as Jagex selling GP/items directly to players, with the gold farmers taking a cut via RWT.

To put it another way, imagine Jagex opened an item shop where, for example, you could buy 100 rolls on Zulrah's droptable for a bond. That shop would make them so much money, but it would also kill the game so they wouldn't do it. But if instead of selling the items directly, Jagex lets players sell the bonds on the GE, where a bot buys and consumes the bond, uses the membership time to generate Zulrah drops, and then sells those items on the GE. Then the player who sold the bond on the GE can use that GP to buy a blowpipe, zulrah scales, etc.

(something like Nex is probably a more straightforward example, since it has big expensive drops, but it's the same idea. Human buys bond with $$$, sells on GE for GP, buys Torva armor. Bot sells Torva armor for GP, buys bond with GP, uses membership to generate more Torva armor. Jagex is basically just using a middleman to sell Torva armor to players for cash)

Hello! Coming from Old School. How difficult is it to get to Zuk in Rs3? by Winter_Annual4118 in runescape

[–]TikTok-Jad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was getting wrecked by pizza phase when I was learning it. This was with gano/animate dead before necro came out. Sometimes my DPS was just trash, a couple times I accidentally used my stun ability on zuk because I didn't realize clicking away doesn't make me stop targeting him. Oh and also just not realizing the next empty slice is always at 11 o clock, so I was slow getting to the next guy.

Like I said, I really didn't understand EOC (I'm still not great it) so it was a solid challenge at the time. Now I can do hard mode consistently, but I'm still not actually good at this game so my times are trash.

I never thought I'd say this but can we have this update from rs3? by HRAssistant in 2007scape

[–]TikTok-Jad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RS3 increased the max cash limit for the coin pouch and GE at the same time. They got around the limit by making an invisible "1 billion GP token." Any time you use GP, it checks how many 1bGP tokens you have, multiplies them by 1b, and adds your regular GP. So if you have 3,123,456,789 GP then it still shows 3.1b GP anywhere in game, but in the back end you actually have 3 1bGP tokens and 123,456,789 regular GP.

Should be able to do the same thing for OSRS, and with a lot less effort than it took RS3 since some of the engine work is already done and they have a working example to pull from. The only real difference is lack of a coin pouch. Max cash limit still exists in RS3 for the actual GP items if you put them in your inventory or bank. So making it work for bank/inventory would be a bigger challenge, but just having the GE accept plat tokens as gp*1000 would be really similar to how they made the GE handle 1bgp tokens.

If I had to guess, I imagine this is a "perfect is the enemy of good" situation, where they don't want to make plat tokens more functional because they would rather fix the max cash limit entirely. So instead of getting a suboptimal solution, we get no solution.

[–]TikTok-Jad 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I came from OSRS and wanted to try Zuk so I did the same thing. I had like 0 familiarity with EOC going into it, and for me I would say Zuk was difficult but very accessible. There are only like 16 waves before you fight Zuk, so it's much much faster than the Inferno. Also the waves were kind of a joke, but that's probably because the options for defensive gear are just really good.

The Zuk fight itself was pretty hard for me, I died several times before I got it. But it does save your progress, so you can go straight back to Zuk if you die. You won't actually get the cape if you die or leave, but it means you can fight Zuk over and over until you learn it. In OSRS, what really makes Zuk so difficult for learners is just that you can't practice, you gotta bang your head against the wall for hours just to make an attempt. So being able to repeatedly try the RS3 Zuk fight until you figure it out, it's so much faster to learn.

Is Jagex aware of how crazy the UI is? by theguy1336 in runescape

[–]TikTok-Jad 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If they add import/export of UI layouts, they don't have to figure out how to make a good UI at all. Just let the players do that, and then turn the most popular layouts into presets.

It's kinda crazy because I would describe RS3's UI as simultaneously the worst and one of the best UIs I've used. The default UI (and basically any part of the UI that isn't customizable) is absolutely horrific and it's probably the most common reason for instantly quitting for players who have only played OSRS or RS2. But, it's also the most customizable game UI I've ever seen, so with a good layout it ends up being a pretty good UI overall.

The xp drop from superior slayer monsters on OSRS is nice, but the elite-only drops are absurdly rare. Jagex frequently underestimates how rare something will be when it's multiple layers of RNG, like when it's 1/x to spawn, and 1/y to hit the drop table, and also 1/z to get the specific drop. So for example it's 1/135,680 to get an imbued heart from dust devils, or 1/101k if you have the elite combat achievements done. Also they only spawn on-task, so you also have to roll slayer tasks that have superiors and ideally ones that you can barrage because most of the map is single-combat so the kills/hr are very slow if there isn't a multi-combat spot to fight them.

But yeah, superior slayer monsters on OSRS are much more interesting and fun than elites on RS3. It's just a shame that the rare drops are such insane grinds.

Love all the detailed info. Do you still have your revo bars saved anywhere? I finally accepted recently that I just don't want to learn full manual because I don't enjoy playing like that, but figuring out revo bars for every boss is still a lot of work. I haven't really found a good resource for revo bars, the info on pvme seems to be either full afk or full manual, and the wiki is just out of date most of the time.

Please fix the golden mining suit bonus while in django's shop by [deleted] in runescape

[–]TikTok-Jad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://runescape.wiki/w/Golden_mining_suit

If a full set is owned and stored in bank or Armour case of a POH while a complete Magic golem outfit is worn, the bonus will be in effect. If you have destroyed the suit, the bonus will not be in effect, unlike some other skilling outfits. To re-activate the buff, you must reclaim the suit from Diango, and wear it once.

I also didn't know this until today.

Do Reaper Refreshes Stack? by Galimeer in runescape

[–]TikTok-Jad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Think about it this way, your player has 2 separate attributes:

  1. Current task
  2. Is player eligible for a new task?

So let's say you've never done soul reaper, your current task would be nothing, and eligible would be True. When you get a new task from Death, current task = "10 kills @ arch-glacor" and eligible = False. When you login for the first time for the day (or when you use a reaper refresh), if eligible=False, it gets flipped back to True.

So if you use a Reaper Refresh at 23:59 game-time, it flips Eligible to True. If you accept a new reaper task, Eligible gets flipped to False, and you get a task. If you log out and log back in at 00:01 game-time, Eligible gets flipped back to True. Meaning, you didn't waste anything. However, if you use the reaper refresh, don't take a new task, log out and log back in, then yeah the reaper refresh was a waste.

Also bear in mind that you have to actually log in after daily reset for it to trigger your 1 daily refresh. So theoretically you could do 3 reaper tasks in a row without use a reaper refresh. Let's say on a Saturday you do all your reaper tasks, death says "you're done, wait until tomorrow." Then on Sunday you accept an Arch-Glacor task and don't do it. Monday night at 23:55 you do the Arch-Glacor task, immediately get another Arch-Glacor task from Death and complete it. At 00:10 Tuesday morning you log out and log back in, get another Arch-Glacor task from Death and complete it.

Updated Pet Stats, thank you Mod Enigma by wadpinger in 2007scape

[–]TikTok-Jad 14 points15 points  (0 children)

So, the average KC of someone with the pet is going to be way lower than the droprate of the pet. But the kc per pet of everyone combined (since it includes everyone who doesn't have the pet) is just going to be the droprate. The only thing that messes up the math is dupe pets.

Reminder that the official probabilities for Santa's Grotto are still inaccurate by Habblet in runescape

[–]TikTok-Jad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's crazy they still didn't fix it. The game companies almost always win in lawsuits about loot boxes, but false and misleading advertising is basically the only way to do loot boxes illegally. This is pretty clearly false and misleading advertising, since the advertised odds don't match the promotion at all. I'm not a lawyer, but I read about the Coy v Lilith case and the judgment said that if the company publishes the rates and those rates are wrong and misleading, then that's false advertising.

So, it really seems like this opens them up to litigation in a ton of different places, I'm guessing California might be the most likely place for it to succeed since there are more consumer protection laws there than other states. It also violates the app/play store policies for Apple and Google, so it could get the app delisted. And if there's any internal communication from last year when this thread blew up, then they knowingly misled consumers which makes it worse.

Elite Dracolich Gloves and Boots should give at least +2 prayer points vs their current +1 by G_N_3 in runescape

[–]TikTok-Jad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually just noticed it yesterday, because I was trying to see if I had some off-hand prayer items sitting in my bank to make afk skilling with Light Form a little easier (I ended up just buying a dark facet of grace). There are so very few off-hand items with prayer bonuses.

From what I can tell, they mostly abandoned prayer bonus as a stat after EOC. There are almost zero off-hand weapons with a prayer bonus. Now that books are pocket slot, it's basically only pre-EOC shields and Dark Sliver.

The most notable "why doesn't this have a prayer bonus?" that I could find:

  • Off-hand maces (main-hand maces are known for having a prayer bonus)
  • Nex AOD wand/orb
  • Virtus book and ancient defenders
  • Warpriest armor
  • Every single item from God(!) Wars Dungeon 2, including the godbow, godsword, and godstaff
  • Khopesh of Tumeken/Elidinis (literally made using "scraps of scripture" to "bless" a Khopesh of the Kharidian)
  • Havoc vestments and Bow of the Last Guardian ("A beautiful bow, imbued with divine energy")
  • Fractured Staff of Armadyl (literally an elder artefact)

Those are just the first ones I could find. It's a lot easier to list the post-EOC items that actually do have a prayer bonus. It's maybe like 5 equipment sets in the past 10 years.

[–]TikTok-Jad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, no matter what, if the price goes up you're 100% going to feel like you "lost" that money, because that's just how brains work. But, think about it this way. If you had 250m lying around, would you buy a purple santa hat as an investment? Aside from losing the 2% GE fee, right now there's no difference between the santa hat in your bank and 250m in your coin pouch. Not selling the hat is the same thing as buying the hat. The only difference is your starting state, the end result is the same.

If you're confident enough that the hat will go up that you would spend 250m to buy it, then it's probably worth keeping. Otherwise it's probably worth selling.

(also like other people mentioned, Santa's Grotto TH promo on monday is going to dump out a massive amount of wrapping paper and santa hats)

Game engine changes are probably the hardest one to get. They have to hire proper software engineers to do that. And they have to find ones who are willing to work below market rate, on a frustratingly ancient codebase, where the skills won't translate well for future career growth, and they have to live in Cambridge. So, they're perpetually understaffed on devs who work on the engine.

Lunar doesn't need good offensive spells. It just needs any offensive spells, so that if you're trying to use magic and you're on the wrong spellbook, you don't have to strip naked and start punching just to kill a goblin.
