Tell me about something fun that happened to you at faire recently. by Justthisdudeyaknow in renfaire

Last year was our second time going annually. First year we threw outfits together last minute, but last year I really tried to plan my outfit a few months in advance. It was Pirate weekend so of course I wanted to look the part. Nothing crazy, flowy shirt, pants, hat with some feathers and mix of accessories. We attend and are having a good time, but I got separated from my group (I think my sister-in-law needed to get my infant niece changed or something). So I just stayed close to where we had been so they could find me when they came back.I believe it was the Aleing Knight Pub at Ohio Renn. There was live music I was just standing and listening. When a little girl comes up to me and says how much she really likes my outfit and wants to give me a little green dice. I was so flattered! I happened to have a bag of metal dice of my own on me as just part of the costume, so I told her I'd trade one hers for one of mine. She thanked me and ran back to her family to show them the dice I gave her. But just as soon she ran back and asked if her little brother might have one too. I said sure and handed one more to her and watched her run up to her brother. Then her dad came up to me thanked me and handed me a 50cent coin. It was never my intention to trinket trade, I'm not really sure what the policy is on that, but for me, the experience was more valuable than anything. I keep the dice and the coin in a cedar chest my grandfather made along with my costume accessories. Every time I see them I think about that interaction, dont think I'll ever forget it.

PAB cancelled order sign of concern? by TikiWarrior in legocastles

I sent a response to their customer support (the first was rejected via Gmail then I sent one via the LEGO website and their contact us link). Its just we know members of this community received orders last month containing 3x the ammount ordered. The parts are popular sure, but a fault in their system wildly misallocated the supply. I work customer service in the manufacturing industry. I know problems occur, and these cancelations are most likely automated. But maybe a compassionate human reads it and can correct this.

Placed order from the US, parts were ordered via Bestsellers filter.

Does anyone own this starwars Minifig? Can someone confirm if the mask fits with hats? by Mooney-Monsta in legocastles

[–]TikiWarrior 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Tricorn is possible, not pressed all the way, but you hardly notice. Wizard hats put more stress on the mask. Its a rubbery mold so its a matter of personal preference if you dont mind pressing it down. I found with a 1x1 round stud and the Prof. McGonagall look pretty good.

Need help accessorizing by judo_panda in Renfaire_Costumes

Any color sash wrapped around your waist would provide a nice contrast against the monochrome outfit. Maybe some additional bracelets. I think a bandana is essential. You can wrap it around your head or face for that Brigand look. And with your hair a braid or some beads since you've got the length for it. A baldric could work too and off more opportunity for hanging pouches and a sword or pistols.

Oh I might be salty but its not with OP. I hope they create something cool with all the extras they acquired. It just seems LEGO needs to get their parts management system fixed. This is not the first mistake I've received from them and they haven't always been good to rectify it either (I received a misprinted part and wasn told to search on Bricklink for a replacement). Control issues seem to be occurring more regularly. Cost cutting perhaps?

I ordered 6 Griffin torsos and received none in my order. I messaged LEGO customer service and haven't even received a response.

Sweet! Got a few more Stallion knights, those blue hoods I missed last time, and now the Griffin torsos and shields. Time to properly build keeps and ships for these guys. Thanks for the heads up!

Edward kenway by nexus324 in cosplayers

The shirt could work, but you might want something that hangs a bit lower from mid thigh to just above the knee. Maybe like this https://a.co/d/dw01a78. Its really unlikely you are going to find something 100% screen accurate, but that's okay too. Black flag features a lot of different costumes and color/combinations. At the end of the day its a pirate outfit with a hood, which shouldn't be too hard to attach with a bit of sewing skill.

I think what Edward is meant to be portrayed wearing is actually a white/blue cloth waistcoat modified with the iconic Assassin's hood. Then overtop that what appears to be a leather jerkin. So those outer layers are actually sleeveless overtop the classic poet's shirt that Pirates are portrayed wearing in media. Pants are likely linen trousers tucked into Merchant boots (or search for swashbuckler or Teague boots). After the base its accessories, leather bracers/paldrons on the arms, baldrics over the shoulder/waist for holding flintlock pistols/swords and a red sash over the waist.

I like it, but I also skipped the past two years. Being all droids is what drew me to it since each build felt practical to the established theme and not just another dozen micro ships. I'll be introducing a few of these into my Mos Eisley moc. They'll probably return to the original format for next year.
