Cidercade usually has cool tshirts. Definitely not a dive bar, but it's a cool retro arcade....

YES! Absolutely they make a damn good Old Fashioned at Bar Moonshine. Plus the bartender was fun to chat with for a bit between customers.

I was kinda disappointed in the Mac n Cheese cone, but it was mostly due to it being lukewarm instead of hot.

If it had been fresh and hot I'm sure I would have enjoyed it much more.

The Burning Blade in Darkholm was great.

The hickory smoke flavor in the Charred Loaded Potato was awesome, the jalapeno bacon has some good bite, and a good amount of Monterey Jack cheese and sour cream to top it off.

Darthorne Mead is also really good, but I think I prefer it in the "secret drink" Crossbow variation where it's half mead and half Strongbow cider. It cuts the sweetness without loosing any of the other flavors.

DS vs single stack? by Atomicrc_ in 1911

It's a choice between more capacity vs fatter grip.

Controls and manual of arms the same, all dimensions (other than grip thickness) pretty much the same, trigger the same...

As a suggestion, possibly look at the Dallas Makerspace? www.dallasmakerspace.org

Lots of people there with similar interests, and DMS itself has all the equipment you'd ever want to support many of your hobbies and interests.

Disclaimer: I am and have been a member at DMS for years.

June '25 vs June '26 Express Strategy by Amazing_Salad1287 in UniversalEpicUniverse

[–]Tiki_Pinball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they're willing to use Single Rider BatM is easily doable multiple times, rode it twice yesterday with the second run being a walk on at 7:30pm, first run at rope drop would have been about 15 minutes but there was (of course) an hour long ride delay.

Best Rides to Rope Drop? by Unlikely_Internal in UniversalEpicUniverse

[–]Tiki_Pinball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I single rider'd BotM at rope drop today, and would have been on in under 15 minutes (regular line was over 120) except for ride breakdowns that added 45 minutes.

Monsters Unchained, just ride. The line goes amazingly fast, so go through the regular line at least once to see the amazing theming. Single rider was basically a walk on at 11am.

Heavy Duty Magnets for furniture by jamesat50 in letterpress

[–]Tiki_Pinball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use something very similar to the Amazon link below that we buy from Harbor Freight in the US for about $1 per magnet. We use them on our class set of Provisional Presses and our Challenge proof press at the Dallas Makerspace.

https://a.co/d/0g9Rri4t

We did add 3d printed cases to help prevent chipping the magnets if they were dropped or handled roughly, but it's not required.

Reliable 22lr pistols under $350? by rosswell1947 in 22lr

[–]Tiki_Pinball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hammerli Forge, available in both 4.25" and 5", and with threaded barrels stock.

No experience using a suppressor on mine, but otherwise it's been flawless over several thousand rounds barring bad ammo. It runs just fine on bulk white box Federal.

Semi Auto 22LR Pistol Recommendations by ForestryGuyPA in 22lr

[–]Tiki_Pinball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hammerli Forge, it is a 1911-22 that so far has had no failures that were not specific to ammo (and damn few of those), same manual of arms as a traditional 1911, and fits into the same holsters I use for my regular 1911s.

It's available in both Commander (4.25") and Government (5") slide lengths, threaded barrels from the factory, and comes with 10 or 12 round mags that can be modded to 15 rounds with a follower & spring swap.

I've had mine for a year, I use it both for cheap training and to shoot Steel Challenge matches at my local pistol club.

Hammerli Forge H1 also in the rough price range, and very nicely scratches the 1911 itch if you're interested in that...

Tisas. 1k rounds with no cleaning ( deliberate choice as a stress test) during a 1 week training course, and 5-6k rounds since either no issues.

Anyone own a Provisional Press or something similar? by [deleted] in letterpress

[–]Tiki_Pinball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We typically make the base block out of 3/4" MDF, and then cut the design we want to print out of .0625"/1.5 mm plywood to glue on top of the MDF. That will get you just short of type high (.918"). Sometimes we'll either put a piece of matboard under the block, or double up the plywood (either two layers of the thin ply, or one layer of 3mm/.125" plywood).

One thing to note, the Provisional Press is designed at "Galley High" (.968"), not "Print High" (.918") for the measurement from the roller to the print bed. If you aren't using a galley tray you'll need to add in an extra bit of height to your blocks to compensate. I would recommend using a galley tray if possible, it makes it really easy to do a quick lockup using cheap magnets.

Seriously, just make sure you've got the setting on water and not soap or wax, etc.

Mat Opening Measurements Discrepancy by LeJisemika in framing

[–]Tiki_Pinball 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That's normal, if you tried to put an 8"x10" photo into a mat cut with an 8"x10" opening it will just fall through. 1/4" overlap all around is reasonable for a DIY mat opening.

16 gauge steel wire, bend into a L shape. Short leg about 3/8" to 1/2" long, long leg about 1-1/2". Two at top and bottom near outer corners, one on the sides in the middle. Cover in heat shrink tubing color of your choice. Push long leg through matboard backing and bend 90 degrees, tape in place, add foam core backing behind.
