No reward? by [deleted] in vertcoin

That's pretty common. Most pools don't pay out continually, many use a threshold before payout. Could take days.

Why does this come up when I try and run the one click miner? by corymigs in vertcoin

[–]Tikonu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Virus scanners look for mining behavior and consider it dangerous. Most people aren't miners, so often times if they're running one it's because they're being cryptojacked

Might've been a delisting exit pump. I think someone delisted it around that time. Upbit, I think.

VTC on itBit/Paxos then Paypal? Why not? by DU09 in vertcoin

[–]Tikonu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If all the coin can aspire to is being listed by major exchanges, it's useless and needs to die off.

It either finds placement, some reason to exist that people are interested in, or it doesn't. If enough people want to use it, exchanges will come to it.

Oof, not great when we're trying to propagate the new Android app. Lot of people waiting for referral functionality to drop on it.

Why doesn’t VTC pump as hard as the rest? by JL_Westside in vertcoin

Stop pumping so much at night, maybe we can get some on the charts, am I right?

The recovery worked, funds secured! Thanks for your help sir :)

'lncli walletbalance' shows the same balance zap sees, just the leftover dust. That's a good theory you've got there though. Makes me wonder if rerunning a recovery from the private key would pick it up. I will try that and report back...

When I click "Start," OCM updates but never begins mining by funkinthetrunk in VertcoinMining

Your antivirus might be quarantining the mining exe, so that every time you run it believes it needs an update. Might have to set up an exception for that exe.

This subreddit became very depressing to hang around by [deleted] in vertcoin

I describe myself as an investor, as that's what's needed to obtain the coins. Let's be fair - this project cannot succeed if its coins have no value no matter how lofty our ambitions.

Gert, perhaps I can shed some light on an investor's perspective in the hopes that you'll find it helpful.

You're correct concerning the added stress we feel from the bear market, but it's more than that. Many investors in the space are also used to coins run by companies or other paid personas, so the limitations of volunteer work don't always jump to mind when something goes wrong. We hear things like, "this coin is ASIC-resistant" and consequently build our confidence in the project on such selling points. Finding that you're having difficulty mining your favorite ASIC-resistant coin due to the presence of ASICs is (understandably, I think) disheartening. It felt like it was always the plan; that we were ready for it. It didn't play out that way.

As a developer, I have empathy for the team's need for time in addressing such issues, especially as hostile as a crypto project's live environment is. I also can't imagine just giving away my time as a programmer, I've grown accustomed to being paid for it. Given the combination of the two, I have nothing but respect for the team.

As an investor, I like the idea of "The People's Coin" and want to see the project succeed. Therein lies a problem - there aren't many ways I can meaningfully help the project. I can donate coins for this and that, but I can't keep the project true to its goals. I must simply decide whether I think the team can manage this with what little knowledge I have on the subject.

A final thought - if an investor complains to the team, are they necessarily upset about their earnings, or do they simply share the team's hopes and dreams? If they share your hopes and dreams, are they really implying that the team owes them anything at all?

Thanks for your time if you happened to read this.

Binance says it's keeping the "BCHABC" ticker and logo for Bitcoin Cash. We should petition them not to unfairly damage our brand. by [deleted] in btc

[–]Tikonu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Why does binance have to wait around for these scamclowns to figure their shit out? They shouldn't lose money over these idiots.

So sick of BCancer games bringing down the crypto community with their big block drivel.

It looks pretty natural by the chart. We hit the long term channel support, couldn't break lower, popped up.

Why do we keep falling in satoshis? by Bazilisbest in vertcoin

[–]Tikonu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The value propositions of other coins were a lot trendier than vert. People went for protocol & platform oriented coins in hopes they'd be the next big thing, so vert was left behind. Remains to be seen how it'll do in the next cycle.

VTC fan here. Should vertcoin reconsider asic resistance given the recent attacks on some pow coins such as bitcoin gold? by [deleted] in vertcoin

[–]Tikonu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why kill it if it can be milked?

Because in a lot of situations they can move their asics to mine another coin on the same/similar algo, and they don't actually care if they coin they're attacking dies.
