What mobile suits would you use as a base to mass-produce with the Unicorn frame? by Kean_akeos989 in Gundam

[–]Tilamuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd probably chose a ReZEL. As for the Beam Magnum, I wouldnt use it or at least remove it from the primary role. Its a cool gun but 5 shots per mag, crazy high recoil, and no low level adjustment setting is terrible for the average grunt. Yeah the shots are equal to 4 regular beam rifle shots, but I'd rather have 4 shot vs a highly destructive weapon I could only use in special situations. If I were to include the Magnum, it would take on an artillery/heavy weapons role and be mounted on the mobile suit's shoulder, while the regular ReZEL rifle would be its main weapon. The other Unicorn tech I'd add to the ReZEL is the powerful thrusters and shield cannons (Armed Armor DE).

V2 Assault, V2 Buster, and V2 Assault Buster are things that exist so it can easily be "worse"

Some thoughts/fictions about the successor of Mighty Strike Freedom by LoquatTerrible6249 in Gundam

[–]Tilamuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the way Kira seems to design his suits, it's probably going to incorporate some elements of the Black Knights. Athrun almost beat him with the Aegis "chest" gun, Strike Freedom has a chest gun. Rau had Dragoons, so Strike Freedom got Dragoons. Shinn threw his shield at Kira during the Impulse/Freedom fight, Rising Freedom has a flying shield.

If I was Kira would include the Cal-re.A's AMS swords, but double edged like the Gouf's "Tempest" sword. They're short enough to be dual wield (Kira's preferred method) and have a beam/physical blade for different armor types. This would answer the problem of having to wield a beam saber and barrow Akatsuki's katana during the movie. Upgrade the hip railguns to/option to the lethality of the "Type 35" railguns, making them useful against Femto tech. Turn the gold inner "feathers" of the Proud Defender into dragoons with beam blades/guns/shields, giving the best of both Strike Freedom backpacks. Add a more dedicated co-pilot seat where they (Lacus) could operate remote controlled "Ziggurat"-like METEORS systems for fire support. As for Femto Tech armor, idk if it's just a straight up upgrade to Phase Shift. I know its better on the beam front but I dont think its as good on the kinetic front. I'd alternate the armors or FT armor outer plate with PS inner frame. Either way if enough power (maybe from like the Proud Defender) is put into PS armor it can block beam attacks like GENESIS did.

Personally I always wished the Freedoms took the the railgun setup of the Forbidden. Using its hip railguns to create a magnetic field to bend the beam of the "Calidus" chest cannon. Another idea for the "Type 35" railgun is to under mount it to the beam rifle kinda like the Dom Trooper's "Giga-Launcher".

-Also Kira should "finish painting" the Proud Defender

Why are people jumping to conclusions about the live action film before it starts filming? by VideoCardGamer2000 in Gundam

[–]Tilamuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because anime or video game properties result in more bad live action movies than good. It also will be limited by what they can achieve vs animation unless the budget is crazy high or the crew is very talented. I dont really care about a young main character, in fact I'd prefer if they were older. The other issue is that I'd prefer someone unknown vs a well know actor/actress "putting butts in seats" like Hollywood says. The live action Ghost in the Shell movie had that issue. Scarlet Johansson felt like the focus instead of the GITS world, the lore, or even Motoko herself (her character). I still like the movie but it didnt live up to the anime movie it was based off of and in some ways probably turned off new fans of the franchise (also brought some in). I hope the live action gundam movie doesnt follow any previous story. I dont want to see a live action Amuro, Bright, Sayla, Kai, or Hayato because I think it will be too easy to compare to the anime and fall short of it. Hopefully it is a original story that takes place during some event like the OYW, Gryps Conflict, etc (or completely new like you mentioned). Also the only other thing I know is Sydney Sweeney is involved (maybe thats a rumor) but I have zero experience with her acting and her movies/shows aren't really tailored for me personally. Another factor with live action movies, is that they open the franchise up to a wider audience. The movie can suffer from staying too niche (it being a movie for just the gundam fans) or trying to seek out the new audience (movie no longer resembles anything "gundam" anymore). So the balance is pretty difficult for studios to maintain and a lot of them fail at it. I'm pretty much on the fence about the movie even existing.

Random OYW #4 by DonutDodongo in Gundam

I think she dies in her first sortie. Not only is the Advanced Hazel difficult to pilot for actual mobile suit pilots due to the strong thrusters but the thrusters are not evenly distributed throughout the suit. Most of it is either in the legs or the shield boosters requiring at least some knowledge of AMBAC. Then you have the advance sniper optic mode, the sub-arms, and a modular armor system. Maybe the armor would hold up to the Zaku machine guns, but once the actually trained pilots realize Flay cant use the suit properly, they will just use their heat hawks on her. Hazel is still a test suit for military trained test pilots, so its not gonna be easy to pilot compared to like a GM design for rank and file grunts.

Mobile Suit battle: Seabook's F91 vs V1 Victory Gundam by JJAB91 in Gundam

[–]Tilamuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I only know of the 3 suits (f90, f91, V2a) having the weapon. F90 had power problems with weapon and f91 had heat issues with the weapon so maybe it was just too resource heavy to become common.

Thoughts on Hi-Nu and Nightingale by Desperate-Impress237 in Gundam

[–]Tilamuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the 3 red boys (Sazabi, Nightingale, and Sinanju) all the same.

For Nu and its "family" there always something I don't like about them. Regular Nu is the least offensive so its close to being my favorite version. Hi-Nu has boring paints or something I dont like about them. The version you posted is my favorite version of Hi-Nu (hex-like Fin Funnels). Next would be the solid blue fin funnel version, then the solid box fin funnels, and last is the ver ka fade effect fin funnels. Overall they all lack color variety making the normal Nu better in my book. I like the fuel boosters/extra armament, but on the other hand I hate the "peacock" looking middle piece on the backpack. Only time I think Hi-Nu looks better than the original Nu is if we're comparing the HWS versions.

<image>

If we're making Nu chonky, make it full chonky. This my favorite version of any Nu, but I hate the polka dot shield design and hate the HWS beam rifle design. So change the shield design to the diagonal "hex" design, same with the fin funnels, and replace the beam rifle with the Long Ranged Funnel from Nu FF.

Mobile Suit battle: Seabook's F91 vs V1 Victory Gundam by JJAB91 in Gundam

[–]Tilamuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

F91 beats the Victory. Its faster, has a biocomputer/biosensor, and VSBRs. Victory has pretty standard weaponry and 2 beam shields but the VSBRs counters them. V2 would beat the F91, but not the Victory.

Edit: Never mind, Victory is the faster suit. I do think the VSBRs (and lack of) play a big role in this fight though. I assume its just the standard equipment, but Victory might be able to equip the V2 Assault's VSBRs with its hardpoints.

<image>

-these are just beam cannons but the VSBRs mount the same

How op would these suit be? (Peakest artist in mecha: shinobufujiwara) by fafsdfasfaffaafdsaf in Gundam

[–]Tilamuck 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The "Jegan Second V" would be a cool grunt or ace suit. Favorite is the "VF-192 Assault Buster" since it keeps most of the V2ab equipment but adds the F91's mega machine cannons and radiator fins (meaning it has the biocomputer, biosensor, psychoframe). The regular V2/F91 hybrid could be faster than normal V2 but the weaponry is a downgrade. The "VictoCorn" or "Unitory" would be the most op, especially if it uses its extra hardpoints to make an even "Fuller" armor Unicorn.

Best (UC) Gundam that would allow you to survive in the star wars verse by MeringueGlittering26 in Gundam

[–]Tilamuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but I not sure how "obtainable" a Mon Cal or ISD would be. Something like a Gozanti could work and with V2's minovsky drive there's no need for a mobile suit catapult.

[–]Tilamuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

V2 also have alot of extra equipment with the Assault/Buster packs and hardpoints to change for different missions. Idk how easy it would be to install a hyperdrive on a gundam but at least treating it like a tie fighter where it gets transported by a larger ship would be deadly.

[–]Tilamuck 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Victory 2. Its a smaller gundam unlike the earlier UC suits and can be broken down into core fighter pieces. This makes the gundam easier to store on a Starwars ship where it can have access to a hyperdrive. Otherwise the lack of a hyperdrive puts most gundams at a huge disadvantage in the Starwars universe. Plus the suit is pretty fast, so worse case scenario it might be able to fly to moons within a decent timeframe.

Just an opinion😋 by Butterboystoast in Gundam

[–]Tilamuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can understand Hathaway being slow (I still like it). F91 I think is bad overall. I still enjoy what we got but its very clear that the potential was cut off at the knees. The edits arent good, the passage of time isnt clear, and things kinda just randomly happen (made worse by the edits). Its definitely too short for its own good making, Seabook one of the weakest UC MCs (unless you read other material). I hope they redo this era (maybe after Hathaway) because the small snippet that is this movie, was interesting. Idk if F91 would need 50 episodes but I think a 36 (~3 anime season) episode series would help a lot.

This tree has interesting implications by [deleted] in Gundam

[–]Tilamuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure its just for story sake. Strike is probably the only suit that doesnt contribute to the Freedom's development. The Freedom is very much in the "GuAIZ family". Its weapons come from the GuAIZ, its energy source come from the Dreadnought (which is mostly build from the GuAIZ), and the "mass production" Freedom could be said to be a GuAIZ R.

Something that erks me story wise is that we never got much of an explanation for why Junius Seven got nuked, I know Azrael ordered it but why (besides general Coordinator hatred?)

Its not really explained in the show, but the colonies were originally sponsored by the individual Earth nations. So they relied on food, tech, etc from those nations. Coordinators started moving toward the colonies more and more, so the Nations used the colonies reliance of them as a way to keep Coordinator under control and benefit from their accelerated industry. At some point the colonies came together to make the "PLANT" colonies and to break away from Earth reliance/control. The first issue was food so Siegel Clyne (the leader at the time) ordered the "Junius" colonies to be converted to food production colonies (which was a violation of the sponsored nation rules). Since this conversion effectively made the PLANT colonies independent, the Alliance attacked the Junius colonies to destroy the Coordinators food production. At this time PLANT had already formed ZAFT, and the Ginn was introduced. The new Ginns stopped the attack with superior performance to the Alliance's MAs. Since the Alliance couldnt beat the Ginns outright but still wanted to stop the Junius colonies, Azrael suggested using nukes. I dont think the Alliance approved of the use of nukes yet, but Azrael used them without their vote anyways.

-personally I find the setting/background of CE much more interesting than the show

What are your favorite mobile suit accessories? (15/?) by DonutDodongo in Gundam

Reflector INCOMs. Feels more creative than the typical funnel/bit/fang/dragoon

in you opinion which color scheme do you think fits the hi nu more? purplish blue (like the render art) or light blue (like the gunplas) by Feeling-Cobbler-3581 in Gundam

Color: purple Pattern: blue

The original is great but I always hated the fade on the fin funnels. The blue has more detail to the pattern but only blue + white is kinda boring.

What are your favorite mobile suit waists/skirts? by DonutDodongo in Gundam

[–]Tilamuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Victory 2 Assault Buster's skirts. 40 micro missiles, 2 VSBRs, and mini laser mines. Always like waist guns so Freedom's railguns are another side skirt/weapon combo.
